The knock on him coming out was he wasnt focused, no really competitive and in general just lazy. He had a good rookie season and thats it. He never was elite and I doubt the knee injury did anything but expedite the inevitable. He was having work ethic issues before the injury for us. one of a 100 articles detailing how lazy he was https://247sports.com/Article/Steve-Smith-Kelvin-Benjamin-diss-parking-cars-Carolina-Panthers-wide-receivers-Florida-State-Seminoles-150995560/

Williams was pick #11 overall

Replace injury with appetite and you are right.

Going BPA is how you end up with players like Brown, butler, Benjimen. Sometimes you have to draft for need

Being aggressive in free agency and trades wins.

On the flip side, the Bucs and rams are about a season away from totally imploding. I get the "win now" approach and totally support it if your team has the key pieces but you better damn well be ready for pain on the back end. Just watch and see how the saints do in the next few years. -
From worst record to Superbowl in 2 seasons

The NBA draft lottery is the dumbest thing in professional sports. It makes zero sense. -
Wait, wut?
-
Why in the hell would any gm agree to the job with a subordinate making the decisions?
-
There is no way we were looking to trade for darnold after his 2nd year.
-
That’s a recipe for success
-
For #6 they will. Watch Rhule do it
-
But hey, on the flip side, if by some miracle Rhule and Darnold makes the playoff next year he probably coaches another couple of year. so theres that
-
To me it certainly feels like it.
-
No more giving vets multi year deals and no more trading for crap qbs. Roll with Darnold and if something happens (spoiler: it will) then start Walker since Rhule is so hell bent on keeping him on the roster.
-
2022 aint going to be pretty. Buckle up.
-
Williams was never a F/A. And I would rather not take my chances giving someone record money who is already hurt when we can simply draft a guy.
-
This is all true. We are stuck with Darnold and/or a rookie qb. Thats why it makes sense to build the line this draft (where there are some top level guys) and then use our top 5ish pick next season to get the qb position right. Forcing another qb into this situation would be insanity.
-
Our realistic option for QB in 2022 is Sam Darnold.

Hes hurt. He is on the wrong side of 30. We have tried this before (hello Kalil) and it severely handicaps you. Plus for him to come here we would have to throw the bank at him.
-
Screw it dude you are not worth it.
-
Nah I’m good. Feel free to ignore my posts in the future since I am rent free in your head.
-
You poor guy, who is emotional now?
-
But what if the team we just traded with has one ranked higher? Its just too risky for qb's.
-
Why would you risk that if you identify someone you like? Seems like a good way to screw yourself in the draft.
-
I am strictly talking about the rankings.
