They are not trading all those picks for a tackle.
-
Nope, we will be in striking distance, sure we would have to give up trade capital but holy hell our roster should be in a better place this time next year. One would certainly hope.
-
I wouldnt cry about that
-
Therein lies the problem. They are going to over correct with Willis
-
I am thinking of it in the context of Rhules timeline. We as a franchise cannot afford the luxury of drafting Lance/willis with the luxury of sitting them and trying to develop them. Thats just not our reality. A person like Fields, Jones or Pickett could probably come in day 1 and start. Right or wrong that is where rhule and this franchise is at

Its a weird horse to hitch your wagon to considering everyone and their brother all acknowledge that he needs a LOT of work. I dont give 2 chits if he can throw it a country mile or run over some white boy from some school named North Texas he is going to need extensive time and coaching just to be able to start an NFL game and even then its a crapshoot if he can become above average. The offense he ran at liberty has been described as "elementary" and he didnt throw much in between the hashes. He has so far to go its not even funny. How many coaching staffs are goign to have to work with him to get him able to play?

How is it completely irrelevant? What is it about Willis that we supposedly like more then fields? This is the same front office making the picks
-
Better size, played in a much more advanced system, called plays at the LOS. He supposedly interviewed amazingly and broke down multiple offenses and defenses and blew away coaches with his knowledge The real question is, how is willis a better prospect at 6 then fields would have been at 8?
-
It doesn't make sense

Willis is getting you wins. Pickett behind this line isn't scaring any opponents. Best case I guess is like you say. Build the line and pray with darnold
-
No but they can get a much better prospect by being patient for next draft
-
I am trying to understand why rhule would pick a guy that will not help next season?
-
Does trey lance ring a bell? Mahomes?
-
Neither Willis (who will not play this year) or Pickett is going to move the win total in his favor this late in the game. His best and only hope is to pray darnold gets him to 8/9 wins.
-
Willis and Pickett would be ranked 6th 7th in last years class. I would absolutely roll the dice that next years guys are going to be rated higher then both again.
-
If we draft Willis or Pickett at 6 I will support either. I mean damn I gave Teddy and darnold a chance. However I will still think that for the 3rd year in a row we have totally fuged up our first round draft pick. The thing you are completely missing about the 23 class is not about who is at the top now, its the sheer volume of potential players. Sure a couple may flame out like Rattler did or not progress like Howell did but there are like 10 guys getting first round publicity and thats not counting the always obscure guy that rises. And as far as where we are picking I am betting dollars to donuts its top 10 and more then likely top 5 as long as Darnold starts (and ultimately gets hurt) and Rhule coaching. Hopefully in 23 we will not have to do a major reach on a complete project like Willis or a ho hum guy like Pickett. We will have better options.

Nobody thinks that

This was never viewed as a good class. It had 2 guys that had potential.
