Draft a QB or Re-Up with Darnold?
mrcompletely11 replied to bLACKpANTHER's topic in Carolina Panthers
If stroud falls to the top 10 range and we are in the 15-18 slot then I would be beating the table wanting to move up to get him. I think stroud is good enough to win a lot of games for us. He isnt the athletic marvel fields is but he is plenty good to be a franchise guy for us. -

https://www.theringer.com/nfl-draft/2022/12/15/23510194/mock-draft-texans-colts-panthers-bryce-young-cj-stroud-will-levis Best case scenario if this works out. We would be in the playoffs 100% without a doubt if this were to happen 9. Carolina Panthers: QB C.J. Stroud, Ohio State The Panthers’ recent investments into the quarterback position (including trades for Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, and the selection of Matt Corral in the third round of the 2022 draft) shouldn’t stop them from pouncing on Stroud if he falls this far on draft night. The former Buckeyes quarterback has a strong arm and pinpoint accuracy throwing downfield. There are questions about his ability to function out of structure, but he has all the tools to develop into a high-level pocket passer. -

This guy gets it. I dont see how anyone can honestly say with a straight face that Darnold should come back under any scenario. vet minimum or not. I guess I have watched a different qb the past couple of games then some of you guys. Darnold fuging sucks Some dumbass team like the cardinals or redskins are going to way overpay for him IMO -
I am still at this point. No matter how we finish, good or bad, I desperately want Tepper to bring in a kevin colbert type consultant (if not the man himself) to totally assess this franchise and give a recommendation for a HC coach and staff. If its wilks then so be it but I truly hope Tepper doesnt get caught up in the emotion of beating a few poo teams and make another rash decision. We need to modernize our offense to compliment our d. If wilks insists on the archaic ground and pound then we have to look elsewhere. Its just that simple.

Anthony Richardson declares for the draft

https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/draft2023/insider/story/_/id/35235286/2023-nfl-mock-draft-todd-mcshay-early-first-round-predictions-31-picks-including-qb-landing-spots seems to be picking up even more speed from a draft heavy 11. Carolina Panthers (5-8) Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida OK, this one is going to raise some eyebrows. Full disclosure, taking Richardson this early is way too rich for my blood. He lacks experience and isn't NFL ready. We've seen a QB with 13 or fewer starts go this high only two other times since 2000, per ESPN's Stats & Information (Alex Smith and Mitch Trubisky). But what choice do the Panthers have? If they can't find an answer in free agency and end up picking outside the top 10, they might resort to desperate measures in desperate times. Richardson's physical traits are excellent, too, including elite mobility, great size (6-4 and 232 pounds) and a rocket arm. If Carolina can make a savvy coaching hire and get the right staff in place to develop him, then this could absolutely work. The Panthers have been outside the top 20 in QBR for the past four seasons and are last this year (21.9), so it's time to invest in a signal-caller in the draft -- even if that means reaching a bit. One other thing to watch: I think the Panthers could try to get ahead of the Falcons and Colts to draft Will Levis. -
