I wouldnt be dunking one way or another at this point, as we know from past experience all it takes is one hit and thats a wrap so being tough or avoiding injuries isnt some crazy skill or talent. Hes going to get hurt at some point, all qbs do, we just hope its not a doozy when it happens.

I think it shows no matter how talented you are you need those vital college games/reps. The NFL isnt a place to learn the actual game/position. You need reps upon reps against various levels of talent and the nfl aint it.

And I okay now with the tmac pick as it is going to help make a decision on BY one way or another but damn I would have been really happy drafting that beast membou which sounds like would have been in cards if he was there. yep it hinders or alters your offense when you cross the 50 yard line and knowing you have to get 20ish more yards at least to put you in FG range. I suspect you call plays a bit differently as well.

His leg is too weak and its a liability for the offense. Not even having the option to kick a 50ish yard FG throttles down the offense.

I truly wonder what the massive offer Morgan made was. Because 18 spots is a ton. I can assume the rams offered next years first but this years draft was light with their picks so that probably tipped the scale. He will be 32 oct of next year. And the choice as of now is play him at this current contract for this season, see how he plays and then decide to opt out, restructure or keep playing on the existing deal. I see only 1 of those options viable, opt out after 2025 no matter how he plays and then try and resign him. But by all accounts he is a headcase currently eye balling his 5th team. Why would he want to come here initially and why would he resign here if we opted out of his deal?

In your scenario for all this to work is for him to not only play like a top 10ish corner and assuming he would redo his original deal if we didnt want to out right cut him. Yeah man I dont think extending a 32 year old corner is in our cards especially when the average age of a nfl corner is 27. That just doesnt make sense no matter how well one thinks he is playing. All in all like you say its all assumptions and hypotheticals but I really dont see morgan doing this after everything he has said and done about bad contracts

So under that scenario the panthers would void the deal after 2025 season and he could simply walk. Seems like a pricey gamble for a 4rth or 5th round pick. And thats not even considering we cant afford him status quo.

He turns 31 in Oct. He has an out after this season. If he stays on his current contract its at 25 million per and he would turn 32 during that season You dont pay 32 year old corners 25 million dollars. So in all likelihood its a one year rental.
