The shot of him getting drafted was brutal. Lot of emotion poured out with him and his family. Tough to watch.

If he went to a bigger school and had a different offense then maybe. He can scramble and obviously has a big arm but the unknowns were obviously way too much to risk early

The flaw in the following thinking
mrcompletely11 replied to Centerfield's topic in Carolina Panthers
It wasnt a constant for me, this just wasnt the year and we just saw why. The past 3 days is definitive proof of what the nfl thought about this class. I would have been over the moon with Fields from last year and have said all along 2023 has way more volume of top prospects then 2022. There are legit like 5 players that can go in the top 12ish. -

People keep saying that but they were never regarded as high as whats on deck. They both had a ton of poo they need to work on -

A very technical writeup of our new QB Matt Corral
mrcompletely11 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thats why I have said since we picked him that we (or the staff rather) should know really quickly if Corral can go from an RPO to a pro style offense. If he can then lets go, put him out there and see what happens. If he struggles fug it draft someone next year. IMO the only thing he needs to do is show he can grasp a more complicated offense. -

And now the adverse to that stat: Corral had a QBR of 42.2 when blitzed last season. No other drafted quarterback was below 70. Corral's average throwing distance when blitzed was 7.4 yards, 100th out of 124 FBS quarterbacks. -

On one of the recap draft shows they theorized that if the Giants went tackle at 5 someone would have moved up to 6 for KT. -
The Athletic Draft Return Ranking

How do they calculate return on investment? That seems odd -

If we are at the top of the draft next year then you are probably looking at a 100% clean and total rebuild for this franchise. I think Tepper would scrub the coaching staff and Front office from top to bottom and start over. So yeah I new staff and new qb would be in the cards -

I may be a moron but I honest to God wish they draft Strong with their last draft pick to A)send Walker packing and B)just get some more competition in the qb room. What is the absolute worst that could happen? Plus we all know some dude named kalon barnes isnt making the final roster -
fug it for where they got him and for where this team is I wish they would just roll him out there week 1 come hell or high water. What’s the point of starting darnold now when we all know what inevitably is going to happen? I think with a qb like corral we are going to see almost immediately if he has what it takes. If he can execute going from rpo to a nfl offense then we may be in business and him getting reps is the best path forward. If the transition is too much then fug it draft someone again next year. Our sunk cost in him is pretty marginalized at this point.

CBS Sports gives Carolina a C- for the Draft
mrcompletely11 replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not sure why you are comparing the Giants draft but their first round is sheer brillance. Perhaps the best best rusher and perhaps the best tackle in the draft. As for ours we have one starter from the draft. "Could start" doesnt matter as we sit today. Our draft is a solid C as we stand the sunday after the draft. And I am fine with that. I love the icky pick and I love the corral pick (as far as value goes). Everyone else looks either like a special teams player or not making the final roster. -
