I will say this. I just thought of a scenario. If we trade him for peanuts and eat the cap, to me that signals the tank is on and Rhule is just the scapegoat for the 2022 season and we blow it all up again next offseason. I just thought of that and it would be telling if it happened but I still dont think they would be that obvious about it.

So why would we eat that for a 2nd(maybe) probably 3rd round pick? It doesnt make a lick of sense. Next off season it becomes more manageable to do something with him. But it still is going to sting. We are stuck thanks to Hurney (again) with this crap contract for the upcoming year. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/christian-mccaffrey-21749/

I dont think we will trade with NO or ATL for obvious reasons. I also think QB is on the board for the Giants and if they make that move it will most certainly be in front of us. Pick 6 pretty much locks us in to a top tier talent at just about every position we want to go (obviously I want a tackle) but there is mad talent still to be had at 6. If you drop 5-10 spots it becomes much more of a crap shoot. The top tier talent starts to thin and I am not trusting these keystone cops to evaluate. I know it sucks not having a day 2 pick but we cannot trade out of 6 to simply mask our mistake from last season. Bite the damn bullet pick a lineman and let the draft come to you. If someone inquires about a player work through it but for Gods sake last not give someone away simply to recoup from a poo mistake. I think its beyond fair to say that Fitts trade down strategy from last draft is a huge failure as we stand today. We let way too much talent slip right on by us.

His argument is stupid, Nelson went in there and made that line one of the best in the nfl overnight

Do what now?

I wouldn't be shocked I would be furious

Alright its worded weirdly or I read it wrong I thought you were saying the swap pick plus a 1rst, 2nd,...... Also there is just no chance a prospect like Ekwono is dropping out of the top 10. He is the highest rated lineman ever from PFF. Everything about the kid is off the charts. No way he falls out of the top 10 and I am thinking now he is picked before 6.

A few things. They 100% have a big board as we speak. All teams have a working board 365 days a year. Obviously that changes weekly, monthly, daily(?) but the scouting people always have something of a foundation all year. I doubt they know who they are drafting but I would bet at this point its whittled down to a dozen or so players. They just have to dig deep in the research, interviews, combine......but I doubt any of that changes the big board dramatically outside of totally removing a player because of injury attitude or whatever

Setting aside his off field stuff, but 2 firsts is a steal for watson
-
Person said yesterday the price tag is still the same for him. 3 firsts and players
-
We are odds on favorite for a top 3 pick next year. If we trade our first for a damn 2nd round qb I will simply become a damn Chiefs fan at that point, fug the panthers if they did that
-
0.00% Chance Ekwonu will be there from 11 on. I would say about a 25% chance Linderbaum is there. I would also say about a 0.0% chance we get a 2 1rsts, a 2nd and a 4rth for a team to move up 8ish spots

Hopefully with all this negative press he gets bullied into taking a lineman

That’s a 8 win team baseline no matter who the qb is. -
I think this is universally agreed upon. We will no doubt try and get cute this draft and fug things up. The only way they don’t fug it up is if they just bite the bullet and take the best lineman available at 6.

For starters this "plan" seems like a long shot that we would actually build for it and execute it. To my memory I cannot think of another team trying this. I just dont see us risking trading "several" spots down and gambling on the team you trading with taking someone other then the qb you like. That just seems like a plan that can go sideways immediately. It just doesnt seem smart to do just to try and recoup a draft pick
