Its not a bad idea but they shouldn't have taken a guy that will be 28 by the time he plays.

How accurate is Madden for coaches?
PNW_PantherMan replied to BrisbanePanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I still play 2k5 from time to time on a Xbox emulator today. Still fun. -
I don't really buy into the David Carr was a good QB until he got drafted by Houston storyline. So its kind of an apt comparison. The reality is he was really slow to make decisions with the ball. He didn't read the field well. His line exacerbated the situation by being terrible, but he just wasn't very good. When he came to Carolina, he didn't have that Sam Darnold panic and throw the ball disease. That's what I would expect from someone who's "shell shocked". Not being really slow at reading the field and making the right throws. Some guys just don't have it at the NFL level. Best of luck to Bryce but history is not on our side here.

Bryce Young #34 on Chris Simms' top 40 list

When your starting QB is ranked outside of the top 32 and people say he’s overrated. Just Panther things. -

Some of you guys need to let it go when it comes to Simms lol. Yeah he's wrong some of the time, but who isn't? His analysis is pretty good. -

Let's be honest though. We don't really need some miracle 6-7 win season with someone like Minshew coming off the bench. Let's just get our next QB if this doesn't work out. -
They will if he’s that bad again. Tepper gets rid of everyone eventually.
-
We just need to invent a new formation where Bryce stands 15 yards behind the line of scrimmage and JJ Jansen plays center.
-
My point is not everyone is capable of having that much meat on their bones. I bet Bryce has been lifting since high school. I can guarantee it. He just doesn't have the genetics of an NFL athlete. It is what it is.
-
You gotta win at least a little bit in the genetic lottery to be over 200 lbs at the height of a toddler and look like Kyler.

Wilson was a good athlete out of college, being pretty good at baseball as well. Look at pictures of him as a rookie. He had muscle on him. He was just short. But, Wilson also brought back the Fran Tarkenton style of scrambling that I don't think anyone was used to dealing with at the time.

Don’t worry we’ll put Andy in and win 3 of the last 5 games to build culture and drop down to the 5th pick.

Panthers run ONE play on repeat
PNW_PantherMan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Real question is that list any better or worse than the overall pool of QBs drafted early vs successful ones? The hit rate is stupid low before you narrow it down to guys that didn’t throw. -

Madden stopped caring about being as realistic as possible a long time ago. Its just about selling ultimate team stuff now. -
I could see it going either way. He could be the next Pete Carroll, but you know even Pete didn't get it quite right until he took the Seattle job.
-
Please don’t

I don’t really care if all he says is “it is what it is” or “we picked a bad day to have a bad day” or “missed opportunities” as long as he wins.

I mean I completely agree. I’m just not sure that’s the best path forward long term. Canales could flame out and be terrible. Honestly that’s probably the most likely outcome lol. But I honestly feel like building a roster and coaching staff for one player is only worth it if it has a good chance of paying off. Bryce could still prove me wrong but I don’t think he’s worth building around specifically. I still think we beefed up the guard position to help run the ball too. Canales wants to run the ball between the tackles, and we were trash at it last season. Sure we also need better pass protection, but Bryce made them look worse than they were last year. There were plays where he didn’t have a chance to throw. But there were also plenty of plays where everything was there and he just didn’t or couldn’t make the throw.

A Brit breaks down Bryce Young vs Jacksonville
PNW_PantherMan replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
Way too early to have an opinion about the QB class next year. A top prospect could emerge. -
He’s what we hoped Bryce would be. Physically unremarkable but good enough. Plays smart and does what is needed to win. For whatever reason people always hate a winner that doesn’t have all the physical potential. But the other guys people are bringing up have not had the same success. I don’t know if he’s 2 overall, but he’s good. Making the right decisions is a lot more important than flashy highlights.
-
I’m not attempting to defend the Panthers decisions, and I don’t have a ton of optimism that this particular regime is going to work out. That said, you can’t complain that Bryce is incredibly limited and pointless to build around, and then complain that the new coach is installing his system regardless of Bryce’s limitations. Coaches install their scheme that they run and get their guys in order to run it. It’s been that way since I started watching in the 90s. This is not an endorsement of Canales or Tepper. It’s just reality.
