Why the Panthers should take a QB (article)
PNW_PantherMan replied to Growl's topic in Carolina Panthers
There absolutely is value in having a good LT, and you typically only get those by drafting them. They don't hit free agency until they are washed. Sure the team won't go anywhere until we have a QB, but LT is an important position. Just because LT can't carry the team by itself doesn't mean it's not valuable. The Chiefs lost the Super Bowl largely because their LT was hot garbage. If the argument you're making is drafting a tackle will force a trade for Jimmy G/Baker and ultimately be worse I can see where you're coming from. But saying LT is a replacement level type position without anything to back it up other than the Browns is questionable. -
That's revisionist history. Sure some people have hated the trade since day 1. But, plenty of people around here were overly optimistic about him last Summer. Things didn't get fully "toxic" until he started stinking it up bad.

"What are we doing in the draft" 2022 edition.
PNW_PantherMan replied to Verge's topic in Carolina Panthers
Sam Darnold might be on the roster, but there's no way he's the week 1 defacto starter. They will either draft or trade for someone else. -
Gordon wants "change of scenery"
PNW_PantherMan replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Charlotte Hornets
That would make sense if he could play more than half the season. -
If Gilmore signs soon are we in line to get a comp pick next year?
-
Two years in a row of this at QB.
-
I know the picks and 5th year option are already a sunk cost, but why not keep Darnold on the roster as a backup? We're going to pay someone to take the guy we paid to get last year? Its only a 1 year deal. Might as well get a warm body on the depth chart out of it.
-
I think he will be considered a bust because of the hype behind him. I'm not sure he'll ever live up to that. Probably a decent career as a middle tier starter or as a backup worst case.

I'm not trying to trash on Malik. He's pretty impressive as a raw prospect. But people get a little too excited about these pro days every year.

Zach Wilson was wow'ing everyone about this time last year.

Panthers hold prelim talks with Mayfield reps
PNW_PantherMan replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mayfield didn't get a 2nd contract because he's not good enough. He could be as cocky as he wanted to be as long as he was playing like a top QB. The personality stuff is just a poorly veiled excuse IMO. -
Too early to predict since we don't know who our QB is but here's mine. 1. Bucs 2. Saints 3. Panthers 4. Falcons

David Newton's "cryptic" comment got me to thinkin
PNW_PantherMan replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't know about all that. Maybe its true, but I just don't think Cousins is that good. He's good enough to be a starter in the league, and can put up nice numbers when he has talent around him. But he doesn't make anyone else around him better. He doesn't elevate anyone. That's why Washington let him walk years ago. He's just not good enough to commit that much money and time to. You might as well just keep looking for a QB. -
Damn. Well here's hoping its 3 1sts and 3 2nds or something along those lines.

“Franchise QBs have no desire to sign with Carolina”
PNW_PantherMan replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm shocked. Really... -
I'm still hoping its 4 first round picks from ATL, because the only interesting player on that roster is Kyle Pitts. And he's not getting moved.
