  1. https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/33329213/charlotte-hornets-rookie-james-bouknight-ejected-courtside-seat-uconn-men-basketball-game I didn't see a thread on this. I don't think I've ever seen a fan get ejected before. Apparently he just moved to the student section.
  2. I've got to disagree here. I see this argument a lot, and I really don't understand it. If this was true, then we would see more players do well at the pro level than college, because they have better teammates. The best high school players stand out and get recruited by the best colleges. The best college players stand out and get drafted the highest. Good players on bad pro teams stand out too. It's mind boggling to me that people think a player is held back by playing at a lower level of play. If this were true, nobody would ever get out of minor league baseball or the NBA's G League. It is more and more difficult to exceed at each level of a competitive sport. Could Carson Strong be a better pro than he was a college QB? Absolutely. Will it be because he has better teammates in the pros? I really doubt that.
  3. For real. And what kind of coach doesn't draft a QB? Every coach in recent memory always drafts a guy. Most of the time you're coming into a situation where the team stinks, and they need a QB. It's crazy to think Rhule decided to bet on Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Darnold instead of just drafting a guy. Is it hubris or just stupidity?
  4. Some great points here. I'd just like to add that this looks like back to back seasons where the Hornets are exciting, and they fizzle out towards the end. The play-in game last year was a disaster. I know we're a young team, but I'm starting to think these young guys need a different coach.
  5. If the rumors about Flores and Tua are true, can you imagine what he would think of Sam Darnold's play?
  6. Not sure much of the class rubbed off on Tepper.
  7. Maybe he's a better coach than he is a recruiter? It would take a really top tier recruiter to go into Michigan and make them a National Championship contender. They can barely hang with OSU. You bring up a valid point though. I think it's likely a combination of right guy for the right situation. But I also think Harbaugh might be a better pro coach than college coach.
  8. We could save the draft pick and just sign Jacob Eason. That's who Strong reminds me of as a prospect.
  9. I thought he should have gotten more playing time, especially late last season. Would have been useful in evaluating if he can transition to a starting role. Now it's more of a blind gamble.
  10. We can talk about trading DJ, but that's just cruel. I'd never send him to the Jets.
  11. What are the chances, after all this, that Watson returns to the Texans? Would he play for Lovie Smith?
  12. The only reason I would be "pro trade" is because I think he will fetch quite a bit in the FA market, and I don't think he will be worth that amount. If all we can get is a 3rd, we'd be better off just waiting and collecting the comp pick when he walks. Here's the PFF best WRs for 2021 and 2020. How many of those guys would you take DJ Moore over? Look around the league and he is not on a lot of these guys' level. Just because the Panthers have only had a couple good WRs in our history doesn't mean we should pretend DJ Moore is something he is not. https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-final-2021-wide-receiver-rankings https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2020-wide-receiver-rankings
  13. Agreed. For example, it took major balls to trade for Sam Darnold, pick up his 5th year option, and roll with him as the only viable QB on the roster.
  14. It's like when you disregard the instructions to assemble furniture or something, thinking you already know what it takes. Then after an hour realizing that you really don't know how to put this thing together and go dig the instructions out of the packaging you threw away. We need Tepper to have that a-ha moment.
  15. DJ is a number 2 receiver, and paying him any more than that would be a mistake in my opinion. We already fugged up by extending Robbie Anderson instead of locking in DJ for a similar amount. I like DJ but he leaves a lot to be desired in the route running department. He accumulates aggregate yards, but he's invisible in a lot of big situations in games. On top of that, he could probably use a fresh start, since his body language looked absolutely miserable out there at times.
  16. The last 8 or so games have been rough. Team is sputtering out when they need to be dialing it up. How much of that is inexperience vs coaching?
  17. Part of me is afraid Rhule will win 5-8 games and get year 4.
  18. Rhule is really an idiot if he does this. Jimmy G couldn't get the 49ers a Lombardi and they are STACKED. They have a good run game, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel. They have a very talented defense. But he still wasn't enough. Why would anyone think Jimmy G is going to be the answer for a significantly worse roster? We might as well trade for Jared Goff.
  19. That's quite a lot of changes on the staff with the guys who left for lateral moves.
  20. This is an interesting thread. Nice thought process. I think if we are keeping Burns long term, we should go ahead and lock him up on an extension now. If we just let him walk without signing him or trading him, that will be a big whiff IMO. Personally, I'm probably trading him. He's a good player, but I'm not building my defense around him.
  21. Agree. I get that they missed that call, but IMO the entire game should have the same level of leniency when it comes to making calls. If the rules change because its late in the game, then the refs are deciding the game as much as the players, and that's no good.
  22. They were a good team before trading for Stafford. We are not a good team.
  23. It was bad because they didn't call anything until the Rams needed to score. Just call the whole game consistently please.
  24. Stafford also didn't have to sign 2 separate extensions to stay in Detroit. I don't really have much sympathy for him in that regard. He chose to play there after his rookie deal. Cincinnati fans have been stuck with the Bengals since the 70s. I hear you though. Neither team winning really bothers me.
