2023 Off-Season Thread
PNW_PantherMan replied to USDepartmentOfSavagery's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
I don’t disagree but football jerseys aren’t that far off. It’s almost impossible to find a safe guy to buy a jersey of. Even if he doesn’t leave in free agency he might get ground into saw dust in the next season or two. -
2023 Charlotte Hornets Summer League
PNW_PantherMan replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Hornets
He’s just an awkward player. He looks like Gumby trying to drive to the basket. He’s not strong enough to play like a big. He plays more like a giant small forward than a center. -

Everyone plays selfish to try and stand out to make the team. -

We might have the worst summer league roster. A lot of these guys are awful. -

He should get more minutes. Kai Jones ain’t it. -

The last game was pretty good for a summer league game -
Anyone ever own a jersey of an infamous player?
PNW_PantherMan replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Worst jersey I ever owned was either Kerry Collins or Tim Biakabutuka. Kinda wish I kept them at this point but they really fell apart. -
Can Bryce Young lead Panthers to a deep playoff run?
PNW_PantherMan replied to NAS's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think part of it is the NFC South is garbage. 8 or 9 wins might be enough to host a playoff game. -
Yea that's a huge problem right now. Lamelo Ball is the best pick we've made in a long time and is incredibly talented. But he could obviously use a better coach to help him refine his game. Like knowing the right things to do at the right times in a game to secure a win vs. just being flashy and winging it all the time. Hopefully with the new majority ownership we can get a better coach next year or something. If we can start building on something hopefully it can snowball into a team that guys want to play for, and we can start making the playoffs more consistently like the Hornets of the 90s.

Evero's defense will be fast and aggressive.
PNW_PantherMan replied to panthers55's topic in Carolina Panthers
If Horn and Jackson can stay on the field, it will help for sure. But in my view, I'd say its the opposite. If the front 7 can generate lots of QB pressure, the defensive backfield's job is going to be infinitely easier. Even the best corners in the league can't cover forever. But a good rush can make almost any NFL level corner look like a star. If the combination of our front 7's speed with Evero's scheme can get to the QB, I think our defense will be very good. -
Will the Panthers or won't they contend for a playoff spot
PNW_PantherMan replied to panthers55's topic in Carolina Panthers
Somebody from the division has to make it. I don't see Tampa or Atlanta challenging for it with Baker Mayfield and Desmond Ridder at QB. And as much as people talk up Derek Carr, the guy only won 6 games last year with the Raiders. I don't see how New Orleans is an upgrade as far as supporting cast, and Dennis Allen is a terrible coach. This will be our division to win or lose even with Bryce making some rookie mistakes. -
Rumor - Canes Adding Tarasenko
PNW_PantherMan replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Wonder what the contract details will be. I like adding a player like him that not only has a great shot, but isn’t easily bumped off the puck. I just hope we’re not overpaying. His injuries in recent years are a little concerning. -

Disagree. He shouldn’t be playing 34 minutes a game but he needs to be playing right now. -

Rough 1st quarter lol -
Not sure why we’re so focused on defensemen, when they’re probably the best part of our team. The TDA thing makes sense to me because we barely had to give up anything and his salary is 50% retained. Trading for Karlsson and paying the rest of his contract doesn’t make a ton of sense to me if TDA is coming back. He’s good but I think his average value is something like 11 million for the next 3 years.

Hornets Signing LaMelo Ball to Max Extension
PNW_PantherMan replied to MillionDollarCam's topic in Charlotte Hornets
He’s still super young and the hope is his game gets more polished as he matures as a player. Also he needs to stay healthy. But the talent is undeniable and it’s not every day this franchise gets a player of his caliber. You can pick in the top 3 for years and not hit on a player like him. Its a bit risky to build around him because of the missed time, but I don’t really see how moving on from Lamelo would be a better option for this team at this juncture. With everyone healthy this is a team that could make the playoffs. And the core of the roster is so young that they could improve significantly over the next couple seasons. Maybe we can get a good coach too. -

I think he’s worth the risk for our team. How often do we get a player as talented as Lamelo? Might as well lock him up and see where we can go. -
Its not every day we get a player of Bridges' caliber on our team. I think we have to try and keep him around.
-
You’d just grandfather them in until they build their next one. You don’t have to push an owner very hard to build a new stadium. It seems like that’s all they ever want to do.
-
I like this move. Our PP was better with TDA, and with Philly paying 50% of the salary its a no brainer.

Exclusive first look at Panthers updated jerseys
PNW_PantherMan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think they can only change uniforms every 5 years but this is such a minor tweak, I don’t know that it really counts as an actual change. Also not sure if that will remain the alternate or be the primary home? -
Stanley Cup Thread. Vegas vs Florida
PNW_PantherMan replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
Maybe but to me Vegas seems like a much better version of the kind of hockey Florida plays. They are both physical and forecheck aggressively but Vegas is just better at it. That particular style seemed to give the Canes trouble. It’s unreal how good Vegas is at blocking shots and protecting the net. If a shot isn’t blocked, they’re bumping guys off the puck as they shoot or getting a stick in there. They are also pretty skilled offensively and have a good power play. I really thought the road was paved for us to make it to the finals this year but watching this series I don’t know if we would fare much better than Florida. Maybe next year will be the one for our guys.
