  1. Since we're on the topic of Zach Wilson and how he'll turn out... I thought I'd share this clip of Ryan Leaf's take from a few weeks ago. He was filling in for Rich Eisen (who is a Jets fan if you don't know). I really enjoyed listening to his perspective.
  2. Thats fair. I definitely think that our staff thought they could elevate him to a pro bowl QB. And they were clearly wrong about that. I do think a large portion of the offseason outcome was attitude though. Not that they wouldn't have traded for Darnold, but Teddy would likely be going into camp as our #1 QB if his mentality was different.
  3. I was optimistic about Teddy, because I thought that he would excel in Brady's offense. He also has plenty of reps as a starting QB in the league and brings experience. The main problem is his attitude. If he was a true professional and a real grinder, he'd still be on the team IMO. The team decided to replace him ASAP not because he played poorly on the field. (He did). But because his mindset does not fit the culture that Rhule and company are installing. As soon as he blamed Brady about the play call not coming down in time that one game, I knew it was over. We'd eat whatever salary we would have to eat to get rid of him. And well, here we are. I'll admit I was wrong about Teddy, and our team made a huge mistake signing him last offseason. Its just encouraging to me that they have the ability to move on from a bad decision that quickly.
  4. Im convinced that Dan was a hall of fame linebacker if he could stay on the field. Conversely, his entire play style was having no regard for his own health.
  5. Moton is on the right side because he is not a LT. The Turner for Okung trade can be graded as either a win or a wash in my book. Okung only played half the season because he can't stay on the field, but I think he was decent when healthy. His contract was also an expiring one, while the Chargers straight up cut Trai Turner this offseason. We got an overpaid player off the books essentially.
  6. That's true, I just think historically we had a very difficult time stopping any kind of a running threat at QB. I don't know if it was the scheme or the coaching or what, but we never seemed to be ready for that kind of thing. Cam was/is more of a power runner, but he was still damn quick at his physical peak. On 3rd and long, it felt like he could see an opening and shoot upfield for 10 yards in about a quarter of a second.
  7. I'm not here to make excuses, but here's some excuses.
  8. Maybe on paper, but Michael Vick completely destroyed John Fox's defenses. We could never deal with mobile QBs. I have a hard time believing he could have slowed Cam down at all.
  9. And even with all that it took like 7 or 8 Jake Delhomme last minute Disney movie drives to get us as far as we got. I swear it felt like John Fox was trying to put us in that position every game...
  10. I don't live in the area anymore, but it would be cool to see the Carolinas get a MLB team. I'd probably adopt them. The Mariners are impossible to love, given that I didn't grow up here.
  11. Bill Parcells had certain guys he liked that he would bring to new gigs. You just gotta hope for 2 things. First, that your coach likes guys that aren't a negative to the team. And second, knows when to get rid of them if they really stink.
  12. If anything he's good for the league because people either love him or hate him. People tune in for polarizing figures good or bad. That said, I'd be surprised if he made the team. You're really gonna use one of the 53 roster spots to have him as a TE?
  13. I'd pass on this one. Guy was released because he's not good enough to be a starting safety. He's an average slot corner, which is not something we need at the moment.
  14. We will have a top 5 defense. If Burns stays healthy he will push for the lead league in sacks.
  15. I like statistics and historical data as much as the next guy. But, there's an important thing to remember. Franchise QBs that win Super Bowls are the exception and incredibly rare. This limits the usefulness of statistical analysis.
  16. Thats what he gets for losing to us on purpose last year.
  17. Only time will tell, but I really like this draft for us.
  18. Maybe trading all of our picks to Denver to get Teddy Bridgewater back.
  19. I'll just add that I absolutely hated Michael Vick as a player for the Falcons. He completely destroyed us, and I'll never forget attending the 41-0 game in 2002. I have never seen a player single handedly destroy a team the way he destroyed us that season. The other game we lost 30-0.
  20. Part of that is true, but part of that was also Vick's attitude. When he was drafted by the Falcons, he didn't take learning the playbook or watching film seriously. He changed his attitude a lot when he returned and played for the Eagles. By that point he had his head on straight, but his body couldn't stay on the field for 16 games anymore. If he had put it all together as a rookie, he'd be one of the best QBs of all time.
  21. I'm okay if we take Pitts at 8. I like to think the strategy is to get people to jump ahead of us, so that a tackle falls to us. This talk of potentially trading up to get Pitts though... doesn't feel right. If we make that move, Pitts better be the real deal.
  22. In short, yes. He looked worse his 2nd season as the starter than his 1st one. He had more INTs than TDs that year. By that point he was 3 years into the league. Once they took Rivers, Brees play took off in 2004 and 2005. By that point they had to make the call on which QB they were keeping long term. They chose Rivers, and the rest is history. In retrospect, either would have been correct IMO.
  23. How does 2nd rounder 1 year out = 1st round pick? I get the point that if we are the worst team, it will be the 33rd overall pick. But, there is a time value associated with these picks you know.
