Not exactly a high bar lol. Both teams are now in QB purgatory/hell.
-
Seahawks are toast. Russ has carried that team for a long time. It's probably time to rebuild, but I wouldn't let any of the current front office do it. They've done a poor job since the 2nd SB appearance.
-
I guess they decided to pull the trigger when news of Aaron Rodgers broke. Feels like that was probably their initial target, but I'm just speculating.

Ian Thomas Contract Details (also TE market is HOT)

What kind of mental gymnastics is going on here? So by extension, PJ Walker was a good signing because good QBs are in demand. -
Your solution for the QB situation?

The man is still younger than Joe Burrow after all. -
Your solution for the QB situation?

I think option 5 is the best, provided we don't overpay someone for too long. Almost all of the available FA QBs are better than Darnold at least. And option 5 doesn't require us to to give up players or picks. -
With his size and the sort of load he's carried in his career? Please show me a RB that was injured for 2 straight seasons after that kind of load and returned to form for years to come. It's not impossible, but he was run way too hard way too often IMO. Rivera ran him into the ground and Rhule didn't miss a beat.

Nobody knows, but I have a feeling in my gut that the cap room is for Jimmy G or Kirk Cousins.

Shaq Thompson - RESTRUCTURED Contract**
PNW_PantherMan replied to SetfreexX's topic in Carolina Panthers
We were in a good place with the cap before all the bonehead moves though. (Extending Robby, picking up Sam's 5th year, signing Erving and Elflein, etc). -
Even though Ron is mediocre, the number of coaches better than him is much smaller than the number of coaches worse than him.
-
And no amount of “constructive” posts or being positive is going to make the team any better. The team sucks right now and we’re just fans. So the discussion is going to be negative. It’s not rocket science.

I'll answer. A receiver that makes the important catches on 3rd down and the red zone. A receiver that regularly creates mismatches and problems for defenses. The aggregate stats argument doesn't hold a lot of water with me personally. DJ is a good player and currently the best receiver on the roster. But if we pay him a Kenny Golladay contract I think that's going to be a mistake.
-
Or they're going to trade for Jimmy G, Kirk Cousins, or Baker Mayfield and give them a huge extension.
-
Absurd? Lol ok. We can agree to disagree. DJ received the 6th most targets in the NFL this season. He's obviously #1 on this team, but what I'm saying is he is not a true #1 receiver. Just like Teddy Bridgewater was our starter and put up decent numbers. Just because he exceeded what a backup QB would put up, doesn't mean he's not a backup QB tier player.
-
He was also drafted in the 6th round and played for 20 years. He's an anomaly. Its not repeatable or something you can build a model around. Josh Allen was pretty close to being a champion this year, and we all know how close Cam was in 2015. Colin Kapernick was close with the 49ers. We're talking about a handful of games here where the outcome is slightly different, and the resulting story is completely changed.
-
I'll gladly eat crow if it happens. I don't think DJ is bad at all. I just don't think he's an elite #1 option. That doesn't really change no matter who's throwing him the ball. He has not grown as a player since he was drafted and he is frequently invisible in crucial downs and situations. He is a #2 receiver.

Matt Rhule watching tight ends at the combine

Overruled. This is funny content that pleases me. -
Short arms, this time Tyler Linderbaurm
PNW_PantherMan replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel that but at the same time, is that true for any position except QB? Even a top tier pass rusher probably isn't adding wins by himself. Or the best CB in the league. -
I don't disagree with any of that. But I do think QBs like Michael Vick have changed the league because they change how kids play the game. They see a pro QB do all the things that Vick or Cam did on TV and they want to play like them. Maybe they're not winning the Super Bowl year in and year out, but I think it has had a long term effect on the overall play of the QB position in the league.
-
I hate moving money into the future so Rhule can try to "win-now" in year 3. What the hell is this "process" anyways? Tepper is a moron for not firing this guy. We're gonna be paying this roster until 2030 at this rate.
-
That's debatable really. Every QB is not going to be Michael Vick or Cam Newton or Josh Allen, because there just aren't that many of those guys. Freakish athletes that are good enough to play QB in the NFL. But I don't know. Its hard to say the game hasn't changed because of QBs like Michael Vick. Does every QB possess incredible rushing ability with a cannon arm? Of course not. But QBs are much more athletic and quicker than they were years and years ago. Now its basically expected that your QB has some agility and escape-ability or else they are worthless. Drew Bledsoe would be killed in today's league.
-
I'd be down for a Malik Willis lottery ticket with the 6th pick. Might be a reach, but he also might be a superstar where he would go 1st overall in a redraft years later. Probably won't happen though, because Rhule is going to take Pickett or some random defensive player that's projected to go around 15 overall.
-
Yeah plus I hate the idea of trading away future pick(s) to get more picks in this years draft, which is a weaker class. That seems like a bad idea.
