Speculation is he doesn't want to play in cold weather cities. I'm guessing the Browns situation is too good to outright say no to though.
-
I like this signing as a guy to carry some of the load between the tackles. As long as we're talking about Chuba, we could probably replace him with this guy and Abdullah. Not big on Chuba at all, and I don't think he's a good benchmark for other NFL RBs. Not even Panthers ones.
-
Agreed. I'd rather take a swing at a rookie that's an unknown, than commit a bunch of money (and picks for a trade?) to a guy we know isn't good enough to be the dude in this league. Rookie is almost a free shot minus the draft choice spent.
-
We just need to draft our own QB. Browns wanna move on because he's not good enough. He looked like Sam Darnold at times last year.
-
No thanks. He's not that good. Observe.
-
He's gonna be on thin ice this year. Especially if we miss out on Watson. Have to think Tepper will blame that on Rhule.
-
I'm guessing he picks the Falcons at this point. Seems to be his childhood team. He called them to reach out about an offer. I was looking at Watson's Wikipedia page and it says that when Warrick Dunn played for the Falcons, he gave Deshaun's family a house in 2006. https://www.thefalcoholic.com/2017/1/10/14223324/former-falcons-rb-warrick-dunn-donated-house-to-deshaun-watsons

Wow that costs nothing.
-
Robbie might actually have a good year if Deshaun is the QB.
-
Are you not entertained?
-
100%. Baker is not that dude.
-
Best case scenario is Tepper finally realizes he's in over his head because of this clown fiesta.
-
Watson was so impressed with Rhule and Tepper that he is now entertaining meetings with any team that is potentially interested. Doesn't look good for the Panthers. Sounds like we're a fallback plan at this point.
-
And even if you don't get DW, Flores is still a better coach than Rhule.
-
Tepper missing out on this deal because of Matt Rhule would be poetic.
-
49ers must not think much of Trey Lance to be entering the chat.
-
The real franchise QB is the friends we made along the way.
-
Fitt didn't get a meeting invite with Deshaun. It was Tepper and Rhule. I'm not sure how involved he is in this.
-
So will the Bucs get their interview with Watson and Houston on Thursday? So they can send TB to San Francisco in a 3 way deal lol.
-
It's gonna be another month so every team gets their own personal interview day.
-
Lmao this place is going to erupt into flames

I hear ya. Honestly if I were the GM I probably wouldn't be making this trade. It's quite a haul. But the Panthers are going to go for it and I can kind of understand the reasons why. It'll either go down as the Herschel Walker trade part 2, or the Texans will squander the picks and there will be an ESPN 30 for 30 special about it some day like the Brady 6.
-
Maybe he's not worth it. Time will tell. But QBs of his caliber and age do not hit the market ever. Who's the last top tier QB that moved teams during the prime of his career? Probably Drew Brees, and that was forever ago. While that was FA, that changed the fortunes of New Orleans and Miami for over a decade.

Deshaun Watson's stats are pretty hard to deny. The guy is tied for 2nd in career passer rating all time with Rodgers, and only 1 of 4 guys to have a rating over 100 for their career (who qualify)
-
Tom Brady has set a ridiculous precedent. That isn't going to be the norm. Closest thing is Rodgers at 38 and he could fall off a cliff at any moment. Plus he can't win in the playoffs.
