I’m taking Warren and hitting up dline later in the draft. If those are the choices.

NFL grades on combine participants
PNW_PantherMan replied to Captain Morgan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Seems like the worst draft to have number 1 overall in a while -
I’m with you here. He played at the highest levels of college and shined brilliantly. There’s no better indicator of being NFL ready. Sure it’s not 100%, but that doesn’t exist. Look at it this way. He made people think Drew Allar could play QB.

Who is your way too early mid-round draft crush?
PNW_PantherMan replied to BeenPounding's topic in Carolina Panthers
I never said he shouldn’t be able to prove himself. I just think it’s silly to pass on a pass catching TE when JT Sanders hasn’t proven he’s the next Greg Olsen. I thought JT showed some flashes, but he’s got a long way to go. PFF had him ranked 37/37 TEs. -
I’m not defending Sanders as a prospect. He just doesn’t need to participate in the combine to trick a team into picking him in the top 5. He’s already done that. The potential downside of looking bad at the combine outweighs the positives of being selected 1st instead of 3rd overall

Yea the early part of the season showed some promise, but it’s been terrible for a while now.

What do you mean? He's going to be picked in the top of the draft. He gains nothing by participating.

It gives us another shot at a TE panning out. Something JT may or may not ever do. -

JT Sanders is not good enough to be penciled in as our only receiving TE. -
Joe Person: Projecting moves based on vibes

That would be the best way of handling it, but I’m betting an extension is coming. They’ll use the cap savings to add free agents. -
Me turning on the game

I don't know if he has little to no trade value. I'm just not sure he's going to get 10 first round picks or whatever. The Hornets lucked into drafting Lamelo. He just hasn't realized his potential because of injuries and his approach to the game. He has the potential to be like Magic Johnson. I don't think the Hornets will be able to build a winner around Lamelo as he is today. He probably needs to play with a star that can mentor him, if he's got any shot of realizing his potential. At this rate Lamelo will be 30 by the time we luck into another star.

I wouldn't feel bad for Dalton. He dodged a bullet lol.

I'm not really disagreeing. The Lakers changed their minds and were able to undo the trade. That's pretty absurd. In this situation, a 3rd party physician should have given Williams a 2nd physical to confirm if the trade should really be cancelled or not. The only point I was making is that something changed as a result of that exam. I really doubt they changed their minds about Knecht overnight.

Damn if only players could play for 50 years. We could accumulate some real dogs.

The immortal Jim Caldwell -
Or maybe their team doctor(s) looked at him and realized he's a ticking time bomb, even though he technically passes a physical today. I do think it's dumb they were able to effectively change their mind on the deal though. It wasn't a mystery he's made of glass.

I think one problem is the league already perceives Lamelo as a traveling parlor trick act. He's probably the most skilled player to ever wear a Hornets uniform, but he doesn't play to win. Even when he plays, the carelessness with the ball and fouls etc. It sucks, but you combine that with the durability issues and I'm not sure he has the type of value Hornets fans would like in return.
-
He's got some really bad habits that have been positively re-enforced by the fact that its college ball. Many times these desperation plays will work out for him, or not result in a turnover. But that type of stuff in the NFL is suicide. We've all seen it. And habits are hard to break.

Aint nothin "ball control" gunslinger about desperately trying to pitch the ball forward while being sacked.
-
The man certainly has a knack for finding ways to risk turning the ball over.

I see a lot of similarities with Cam Ward. Even though Cam is a more polished passer coming out of school. Not saying a lot compared to AR, who's maybe the rawest QB prospect drafted that high ever.

So this bump will basically help tank Motons backloaded year in 25? Works for me.
