  1. Except one of those teams has been a SB contender for 4-5 seasons and the other one is the Carolina Panthers.
  2. Agreed. Him and his agent have to know the game being played here. If he wants a certain team, he won't waive it for 5 different teams. The Texans will do the best offer for the Texans based on who he will waive his NTC for.
  3. The biggest thing for me is losing Payton. As much as their FO has kicked the can, he has really kept the team competitive week in and week out for a long time.
  4. I'll be a Panthers fan until the team doesn't exist or is moved elsewhere. We could blow up the whole team and be hopeless and the Panthers would still be my team. Just the way it is for me. That's more of an emotional attachment than anything. I've moved all around the country since growing up in Charlotte and I simply cannot stop being a Panthers fan (for better or worse). But on the Watson/Tepper dynamic. In the professional world, anyone who's burned a bridge like that with their previous employer has huge red flags. They could be coming from a terrible situation, but it's still something to watch closely. Was Houston 100% in the wrong and Watson would love spending the rest of his career in Carolina? Maybe. But to me the risk is certainly there that after 3-5 years of BS in Carolina he wants out again. Combine that with a FO/Ownership that has soured on 2 QBs in 2 years. It's not a great look.
  5. You're using language like someone who's upset. But a lot of our cap room is spoken for over the next 2 seasons depending on who goes the other way in the trade. This website is a great reference for that as you can look at 2022, 2023 and 2024. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/carolina-panthers/cap/ And I'm simply pointing out that this player has burned a bridge with ownership and there is a possibility it happens with his next team. I'm done with this for now though. It's just a bunch of name calling and poo flinging instead of having a discussion.
  6. You're taking this way too personally. We had an average QB in 2020 and we won 5 games though.
  7. Nobody's butthurt. You're just being unrealistic. You really think the same thing couldn't happen here that happened in Houston? He could just get mad and want to play elsewhere you know? You think he's going to wait 3-5 years for us to build a team around him? Lol.
  8. How are you missing the connection here? We are trading away our most valuable picks for 3 seasons. Watson will count 40 million against the cap. We'll have to wait a couple years for other cap hits to roll off. How exactly is that going to happen?
  9. My argument isn't that Lovie Smith is some great hire. My argument is that what's so much better about Carolina? It's pretty identical. Both teams are several seasons away from competing (if we are stripped of major assets as a result of a trade). Lovie Smith is basically discount Ron Rivera if you look at the W/L and career history.
  10. Lovie Smith may not have done well in college, but he has an over .500 overall record in the NFL. He has also been known to be popular with players. I wouldn't place him as a top tier head coach, but he's better than Matt Rhule.
  11. Cause he already jumped the shark and he won't go back on his stance. He should have just worked things out and played out his contract in Houston IMO. No reason to throw his career away over being on a bad team. He is the one who signed that extension with the Texans. Nobody forced him to do that. You only get to be in your 20's once. As a pro athlete, those are prime years I wouldn't be willing to throw away sitting out, personally. He may not like the Houston Texans or their management, but what exactly is so bad about that org vs the Panthers, Seahawks, etc. They aren't that bad and now they have Lovie Smith.
  12. The one thing that really concerns me, is that our front office might be the worst negotiators in the NFL. They completely outbid themselves for Sam Darnold last year, and it looks like they might be doing the same thing now for Watson, but on a bigger scale. If everyone's ducking out of the Watson game left and right, we should stand firm with a reasonable offer. Watson WILL NOT play for the Houston Texans. If they don't trade him, they are just bleeding his potential trade value year after year. They're really in a bind with this. IMO we should offer something like 2 1sts and CMC as the meat of the offer. If they want more than that, just say good luck trading a QB who's sat out for two consecutive seasons for that.
  13. If Watson gets suspended for 6 games, CMC might be on IR by the time he plays.
  14. It's just crazy to me how we watched prime Cam go through his career with limited weapons and protection on offense. He never had a good receiver during his prime except for Greg at TE, and he never had a good line. People in this community have been complaining about that for the last decade. Now the crowd wants to trade everything away to get a "franchise QB", where we won't have any ammo to build a team around him. On top of this he has questionable character and has not played for an entire season. This is just complete madness.
  15. Yea I'll go ahead and put my name down on record. This trade is pants on head retarded for the Panthers. I'll gladly eat my words but hopefully this never goes through and he gets traded elsewhere. This would be a tremendous mistake for the franchise. Deshaun hasn't won anything in this league because he can't do it by himself. He will not fare any better here than in Houston. And he will make things bad in the future when Rhule gets fired and Watson demands to be placated by the head coach selection who will have 0 first day draft picks. Just bad all around.
  16. Then its time to walk away from the bargaining table. Or else our FO are the worst negotiators alive.
  17. 100% agree. Plus we are giving up those players in addition to future picks. I don't understand this framing that we're just giving up the last 3 guys we selected.
  18. That trade is so bad for the Panthers. You have to be delusional to think that turns this franchise around in a positive way. All 1st round draft picks aren't created equally either. Ours are likely to be in the top 10, while a team like the Rams is trading away a 20-32 pick for a 1st.
  19. I used to think MLB was becoming less important in the current NFL. Then I watched an entire season of Jermaine Carter.
  20. With Rodgers and Wilson locked in, the supply of available QBs is now shrinking fast. Feels like someone is going to trade too much for Jimmy G. Let's hope its not us.
