They signed Kirk because they think they have a legit SB window with him at QB
They could have just added an elite prospect to help on said SB run
Making a pick for the future because they're about to lose even more draft picks, and thus lose out on more players they could use for said hopeful SB run, is the epitome of stupid.
If they lose say their 1st next year because of this, that means they'll have signed Kirk for a SB run and then not had a 1st round pick to help out in the first 2 years of his contract.
With no defensive player worth taking at 8 and probably no trade down offer I can respect that they stuck to their guns and took the guy the must believe in. Kirk while being paid very highly will be a 36 year old QB coming off an Achilles tear so there's no guarantee he will hold up. Also, it's not like Kirk is just some elite QB he in my view is a very productive QB who has an elite agent who keeps getting him these mega deals. Kirk is also awful in primetime and hasn't won a playoff game since 2020.

The Falcons taking a QB in general here is dumb
But they just took the QB who turns 24 in a couple weeks and now will have to sit for at least 2 season I'm guessing.
If you're going to take a future QB knowing they'll have to sit behind Cousins for a few seasons, why are you taking the oldest guy of the bunch?
So dumb
The Falcons are gonna lose picks when the NFL does the investigation on the whole Kirk Cousins tampering deal so I can see why they went ahead and took a QB now. Take the guy you like now because you'll be too good with Kirk to be picking that high and you'll lack the capital go trade up.

I liked Penix but holy reach.

You're wrong there. The Browns snd Texans also don't have first round picks.
My bad haven't paid much attention to the 1st round order this year since we don't gotta pick.

How it feels watching the 31 other teams make at least 1 pick tonight.

I'll never forgive Kelvin Benjamin for not chasing down that Chargers defender and forcing Cam to have to make that awkward tackle and causing Cam to hurt his shoulder.

Dude's a great player. The more I watch and read about him the more I like him and want him on the team. I feel like he'll be a great fit with the DAWG culture Morgan wants to build. I imagine Evero is having wet dreams about having Horn and hopefully if we can convince him to come back Stephon Gilmore playing on the outside with Sainristil playing the slot and moving around the secondary.

I like Trey Benson at 65 or 101 but no way would I spend one of the 2 2nds on him with all the needs we have.
-
I just wanna feel like a game is still winnable after the opposing team put's up 17 points.

If the board falls like that then I'm either trading down with a team who wants to come up and get Bo Nix or I'm doing back flips because Jackson Powers-Johnson is there and I'm running the card up as soon as the draft opens. I like Xavier Legette but I'm confident he'll be there at 39 also.

Bryce will be our opening week starter for at least the next 2 years. The 2025 QB draft class looks really weak so the earliest we'd draft a new QB would be 2026. You could maybe bring in a vet to compete with Bryce next off-season if he shows absolutely no improvement this year but giving up on Bryce this soon is just being irrational.

Not impressed with how he handled the offseason so far
Bryce has had like 2-3 public appearances since the season ended. Are you wanting him to do some sort of media tour?

I respect Clifford for stepping up and coming back to be our HC after Kenny Atkinson left us high and dry, but it's been clear for a while now that his time as an NBA HC has passed.

Canales gets his Doug Baldwin at 33 with Ladd McConkey and Morgan gets the next great Panthers linebacker with Payton Wilson at 39.

Sound fundamentals. CMC had some “deceptive” speed.
A true bring your lunch pail type of guy with sneaky athleticism and who just plays the game the right way.

Xavier Leggette will be the receiver that we all talked ourselves into thinking Laviska Shenault would be.
-
I'm all for Ladd McConkey at 33. Dude just gets open and makes himself and easy target for the QB. He definitely fits the profile of WR's that Canales had in Seattle like Golden Tate, Tyler Lockett, and Doug Baldwin so I wouldn't be surprised if that's they guy Canales is pounding the table for.

Burns best game will be against us as it is his “prove you wrong” game
Seeing Icky absolutely pancaking him in the run game is gonna be so fun to watch.

Maybe. Every year I kept thinking Burns would break out and it never happened. It was same ole, same ole. He would show up for a few snaps a game, maybe get a sack, and then disappear.
If he does show improvement it will lower my opinion of him even more.My biggest issue with Burns is that I never looked at a game and said we won that game because of Brian Burns. I'm sorry but if you're making $30 million a season you better be the sole cause of at least a couple of wins a season and not just being a good player on a team that wins occasionally. I expect a similar season from Burns this year where he has a couple of flashy athletic sacks but continues to disappear in long stretches and get overpowered in the run game by opposing TE's.

Burns is going to put up impressive sack numbers this year.
The giants definitely have the talent on the D-Line for Burns to feast but I feel that based on the QB spot situation they're in he'll be in the same spot he was in here where once the other teams puts up 17 points the other offense just runs the ball and goes to quick game passing knowing the game is already out of reach.

I'm not sure any TE has ever gotten more bang for the buck for his bank account as Ian Thomas has. He's the type of guy who should've been bouncing around the league trying to latch onto a roster as the 3rd TE and yet we've made him a wealthy man. Good for him but holy poo we're a dumb organization.
We need a Mod to start a go fund me for the huddle so we can all chip in to hire a private investigator so we can get to the bottom of the how does Ian Thomas continue to be on this team mystery.

I wish I knew how that whole thing played out. From the outside looking in with the advantage of hindsight it really feels like a lot of the staff either didn't want Bryce to begin with or they got him into camp and panicked when they found out just how physically limited he was playing against NFL defensive talent.
I think the coming to Jesus moment for last year's staff was in the Jets joint practices when they saw first-hand just how bad the Oline was in this scheme where they couldn't just line up and power run the football like they were doing under Wilks. Getting destroyed like they did probably took every pass concept that was more than 20 yards out of the play book because we simply couldn't hold up in pass pro for that long.

Bryce had no shot last year. From the historically bad interior Oline to the terrible WR's (except Thielen) and an offensive coaching staff with so much division and terrible play concepts that no matter what happened he was going to fail. I'm still convinced that despite all the reporting that it was a joint decision to draft Bryce I still believe that Reich wanted Stroud or Derek Carr instead.
If I'm Canales I tell Bryce to throw everything from last year in the trash expect for the Texans, Packers and the last drive from the rainy Falcons game. Take the times where the offense looked semi-functional and try to build on that.

As a huge Gardner Minshew fan I'd love that for him. He might finally get a shot to lock down a starting QB job.
