    This.

The only caveat imo is that if Fitt is looking for a defensive minded head coach there’s no reason to go in a different direction from Wilkes. If he wants an O minded HC then Wilkes is gone and id back up the Brinks truck for Payton and do everything possible to get Lamar Jackson (bc that’s who Payton is going to want).

I'd like Payton here but there's absolutely no chance the saints trade his rights away to a division rival. It wouldn't surprise me if Tepper did something like giving Wilks a 2- year extension with a mandate of win a playoff game then dumping him to go after Payton when his contract expires after the 2024 season.

  2. I still think Wilks has a chance to win the job, but McAdoo has to go no matter what. Baker looked like a completely different QB in only 2 days with McVay. Which leads me to the biggest problem with giving Wilks the full-time gig in that we have absolutely no clue who he would be able to get to come in and be OC. I do give Wilks credit for neutering McAdoo's inept play calling and making us a run first team to try and keep us in games something Rhule always talked about doing but never did.

You're dreaming snap back to reality. Geno Smith has a career high 72% completion rate this season. Sam isn't ever going to be that. Last season he was the worst statisical quarterback in years. He might have a few games here and there where you can win with him against an opponent with a weak offense. But when you go up against a team with an elite quarterback where drives are precious and you need points the opposing defense will key in on Sam's tendencies and eventually he will turn the ball over. We don't need anymore reclamation projects here. We need to develop our own guy. You folks who want to save every mediocre quarterback we stumble across are beyond hope.

No one would've predicted Geno would've been as good as he's been this year if someone did then they should be playing the lottery every week. Nowhere in my post did I say we should bring Sam back or that he was a long-term answer. All I said that Sam has been delt a bad hand his entire NFL career and through it all he's handled everything with class. So, if he does by some miracle turn it around then good for him he deserves it.

  4. If Sam pulls a Geno smith and turns his career around then good for him, he deserves it. He's by all indication a good dude and a great teammate. He's handled getting benched with class and watching the team go out during the offseason and turn over every stone to try and find someone to replace him with and then having to "compete" in a fake QB battle with Baker knowing that no matter how well he played he was not going to win the competition.

If progress is being made why not? I mean, we've stomached utter trash for years. It's be a lot more promising to watch a young talented QB grow than watch cast off vets just suck out loud.

Exactly, Bears fans seem a whole lot more optimistic than us right now because they get to watch Fields get better every week while we are just counting down the days till the draft.
