So next week’s game against the Bucs is definitely rigged, right?
Wes21 replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think it was an incredible time to have a good year. Panthers went 15-1 and to the Super Bowl. It was bracketed with a Duke basketball championship and a UNC championship game appearance. UNC was about to win the natty the following year. Clemson football was in a national championship and about to win one the following year. Coastal Carolina won a baseball national championship a few months after the Panthers Super Bowl. It was an incredible time to be a Carolina sports fan. -
Shaq Thompson shedding some light about Rhule and Wilks.

He is not the worst in history but he was a predictable flop. College coaches don't belong trying to run NFL football teams. It doesn't work. A guy needs some kind of street cred for gorwn athletes making millions to buy in. But even more important the guy needs an NFL staff. And if a guy is a college football lifer, he will most likely lack the connections to get the staff that he needs to succeed. The idea that college coaches can jump up to the NFL should have died already. The main thing that keeps teams trying it is Pete Carroll. News flash...Pete Carroll is not a college coach. Pete is an NFL coach that spent some time in major college football. Wrap your mind around that and guys like Matt Rhule will never happen again. -

I came back to this thread to say that the leagues attack dog...good ol' Jerome Boger...is doing the Saints v Eagles game. I would bet that he's there for a Saints victory. The Eagles beating the Saints does nothing. The Saints beating the Eagles potentially opens up several intriguing storylines and matchups heading into the final week of the season. And if you are into conspiracy theories and that the league is pulling the strings for ratings and storylines...the Panthers over the Bucs makes more sense than the other way around. If the intent is to have Boger deliver a Saints victory, that doesn't jive with screwing the Panthers and having the Bucs ride off into the playoffs before the last week of the season. For anyone like me who wants to know the ref assignments right after they are dropped and read some high level analysis of calls during each weeks games without the media spin, I would highly recommend Football Zebras ( footballzebras.com ). This week we have the same ref who did our game against the Browns to open the season. -

One easy cheat code that they use is on 3rd down. They will wait for Brady to not convert on 3rd down and give him a ticky tack illegal contact downfield or defensive holding on a receiver. That gives a fresh set of downs, tires out the defense a little bit more and keeps the Bucs defense on the sidelines for a little extra rest. -
I have a buddy who is in the sports TV business and he said if the networks were given the chance to only show Packers, Cowboys and Steelers games all year long...they would take it. So I'm going to just spitball random crap and see if any of it sticks. The Cowboys are already on Thursday Night Football. The Packers are playing a 4pm game on CBS against the Vikings. That is an all NFC matchup that got "cross flexed" from Fox to CBS so that CBS could show 1 intriguing game that afternoon. Which means CBS is going to fight to keep that game. Taking it a step further, the other 2 afternoon games are Jets @ Seahawks and 49ers @ Raiders. So moving the Rams/Chargers game down to the 4pm slot would mean that there would be all west coast games on at 4 with only the New York Jets bringing an audience from the east. At the 1pm slot CBS also has the Ravens/Steelers game. As much as they might want that one, I think they might let it go because they also have the Chiefs at 1pm. CBS has been leaning heavy into all Chiefs games and broadcasting them nationally, even when they are playing a team like the Texans. Here are some additional rules to flexing that I was not aware of but google'd it. Apparently when the networks protect their games from being flexed, its something that has to happen by week 5. And it can only be 1 game per week. So if we are going to keep overthinking this like I am in this post, we would have to also ask ourselves what games would have looked compelling enough to protect in week 17...way back in week 5. Which leads me to believe there is an off chance that CBS chose to protect Chiefs/Broncos. Which leads them open. https://sports.morganwick.com/category/football/nfl/snf-flex-scheduling-watch/

Make sure no Panthers complain ever again. If they do remind them of the rushing performance against the Lions in 2022. Case closed, no reason to change.

That was actually my solution. I called it "the dumb cord" that I hooked into my "smart" phone. My phone doesn't have an aux jack anymore, but youtube has restored my ability to stream my phone thru that same truck. I can do it thru bluetooth again.

The “Maybe Not So Obvious” Elephant in the Room

There will be plenty of blue in the stands against the Lions! -
Dude, we are saying the same thing. Here is another one where I would blame "the software," but I am talking about the people behind it. Years ago in my truck I could stream youtube by simply plugging in my phone and clicking a few buttons. Suddenly there was a series of updates that didn't allow that anymore. Same truck. Same phone. Same hookup method. They just "updated" it so people like me couldn't stream music thru youtube in their vehicles. And I'm sure there were some other goodies that came with the updates as well. Yes, I "get it." You aren't saying anything that I haven't already thought about. But I can still talk about them and make fun of them. I can also call them stupid.

I absolutely love the "view finder" on that app and the reviews people do of every seat. Its an absolute awesome feature.

Its not just Apple. Its annoying how companies try to control things thru software. I have my car set up to be able to stream anything that is on my phone...it mirrors my phone screen. But I can't do it with certain "services." NFL Sunday Ticket is one of them. As soon as I try to mirror to my vehicle, it tells me I am not allowed. So to watch games on a road trip I either have to watch it on my phone or only watch the local broadcast games thru another service. Using my iPad was the same thing years ago. I could watch Sunday Ticket on my iPad or my TV. But if I tried to cast my iPad to my TV it would tell me that it wasn't allowed. NFL's replay package did the same thing. I would want to go from watching the All 22 cam on my iPad to my TV and it would tell me its not allowed.

I had DirecTV for years out of spite for Comcast Cable and how they were overcharging me. The customer service was unbelievably bad, particularly after they got in bed with AT&T. I swear I have never gotten off of the phone with them in anything less than 45 minutes, with most calls lasting an hour or more. I think the "pick a team to follow" option would be a favorite feature for customers. The issue there is obviously the networks packages not jiving with that option. So one weak you would be buying a FOX game and the next week it would be a CBS game, depending on who we are playing that week. I will tell you how stupid the networks can be sometimes. I have Cox Cable and they allow for viewing live TV thru their APP. However, you can't watch every channel that you have in live format. So if I want to watch a college football game on ABC, I can't just log into my Cox APP and see it. I have to go to the ABC APP and use my Cox Cable login credentials and watch it on ABC's APP. If that is the ONLY thing I want to watch its a minor inconvenience. But if I want to channel hop to another college game on NBC, I then have to get out of the ABC APP and pull up the NBC APP.

You should be able to cast from your device to your TV.

Jaycee Horn weighs in on the turf debate
Wes21 replied to PantherFanInPhilly's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not all stadiums and situations are the same. I think any open stadium could change out to natural grass whenever they are told they need to. However, things are a bit different for existing domed stadiums. What the Cardinals and Raiders have is neat...but those elements were built into the design. Going back to retrofit a domed stadium without a retractable roof would be a different ballgame than the other stadiums simply swapping out the turf to grass. That puts a handful of teams in an interesting position, with the rest of the league able to quickly adapt. The Lions don't even have room for the cute little grass outside and move it inside trick the Cardinals and Raiders designed their stadiums around. Ford Field is shoe horned into Detroit right across from the Tigers stadium (literally walk across the street) and they are locked in from all sides with highways and buildings. Its part of the "charm" they were going after. -
I would love to say he got caught up in the moment, which I've seen. But when you see him wince before deliverying the next headbutt you can tell its for show. He's dealing with the pain of the headbutts to show "hey guys, I'm tuff and I enjoy what you are doing right now! Can I be your starter again?"

Sorry bro, I didn't realizing you were just trolling. I will leave you to it.

Lamar might be available in real life. How many of the QBs you would take over Lamar are going to be available in real life next year? I would love to consider them as well.

What's sad is when I read the original post I thought "what the F event is tomorrow at the stadium?" My mind immediately turned to thinking it was a concert or something. I guess I have given up on the season so hard that I couldn't even wrap my brain around the fact that there is half a season left and we are playing in the Amazon Bowl against a team that is owned by the Home Depot guy and coached by Mr. Fed-Ex, Jr.

Take a close look at CJ Stroud and really think about who he is surrounded by. He is "pulling out wins" for the Buckeyes, but he has the talent advantage every week. Guys who are good enough to be 1st round picks in the NFL are not good enough to play for Ohio State. That's how good his receivers are. When I look closely at him I see a guy with a ton of arm talent that just doesn't have what it takes outside of that to be a franchise QB in the NFL. He's one of those guys that looks amazing in his highlights but then when you really watch his game film and remember he has the better team by a country mile sometimes...it paints a different picture. I see a slightly less awkward Jameis Winston in that regard.

Yes - like the 15-1 season where we went to the Super Bowl.

We don't need no stinkin MVP around here, we've got Baker!

Its weird how the playoff success seems to suddenly fall off a cliff after Ray Lewis and Ed Reed left the building.
-
And some are more right than others. Making a silly generic statement doesn't change that.

Fans don't want to use a draft pick for a player because they want to save the draft pick to use for a player. So if we use the draft pick for a player we won't have it anymore. Flawless logic.

Definitely win! The Lions have been tanking for 6 decades and still suck.
