He went straight for the insult, because he couldn't respond to the content of my post. He took a fat L on that one.

That's not even the angle, I wear my mask. It's trying to compare what people get paid for vs doing something for free. Its dumb. I guess I will go around asking for lap dances from strange women. Then when they refuse I will say "but the girls that get paid to do it don't have an issue with it."
-
What was really cool was when you wore the respirator around town for free.
-
All good points and I agree...yet it's still silly to compare what people do at work and get paid for vs not.
-
I don't agree with making it a big deal... ...but let's not compare things you are paid to do and its your job vs something that's not.

So the logic train starts with "that is a bad assumption." Then it starts explaining why its a bad assumption, with their own bad assumption? "Control" is another one. Its incredibly stupid and short sighted.

I have no idea why people keep talking about the flu like its a cold.

Mask update: I went ahead and ordered some new masks so that I can swap them out and have extras. I ended up ordering 3 more of the style I like the best. However, the ~$7 version of the mask that I bought originally is on backorder and is not scheduled to get here for a while, so I went ahead and bought the $25 version of the same style mask that was in stock and ready to ship. I figured I'd give it a shot and see if there was a difference, other than availability. The look is exactly the same, and as far as I can tell the materials are exactly the same. What I will say is the "fit and finish" of the $25 version of the mask seems to be better. The little plastic pieces on my cheaper mask spin around a little bit and have even come off while transporting the mask. The new one seems like those pieces are more "locked" in place and stable. At the bottom of the cheaper mask, there is a small gap between my face and the mask (kind of like a surgical mask), where as the $25 one hugs it snuggly with no gap.

And if you walked by it and had your doubts, now it has been posted on the internet. So that confirms that it's real!

Where is his name? There is no point engaging with that potato. Notice that he didn't mention a single thing about the content of your post, he just launched a general attack. He's a one trick pony with no substance. But I heard one time years ago he put together a coherent post, so there's that.

Very good post. Unless someone has been hunkered down in a self sufficient bunker for months with everything they need...they are a part of the problem whether they want to admit it or not. But lucky for them, many of us understand what's reasonable and what's not, and we are simply trying to find a balance between the two.

So my gym has begun a policy of needing a mask to enter now. But they don't make you wear it while you are working out.

It's funny because when this thing first started, it was "OMG you are racist if you are scared of this!" Then when it was realized that political hay could be made the other direction, some of those same people flipped hard.

When you side with "I don't care about results," you are on the wrong end of the conversation.
-
You are rendering judgement regardless of what the results are...which is what I said. Again, you could have saved yourself alot of words.

Sports play an important part in engaging the general populous with the schools. Its a connecting factor, and is a good recruiting tool for them. It also brings in a poo ton of money that wouldn't pour into the schools without the connection thru the sports programs. Schools call and beg for money all of the time, and they find that they are more successful in obtaining donations when people are excited about the sports teams (the team is doing well). But, if things were done purely as a business decision, most schools would only have the biggest sports and most women's sports would not exist.

I remember responding to a healthcare client who was looking at expanding their ICU space a few months ago. One option was to convert some conference rooms into space for beds. They found a configuration that would allow 20+ beds per conference room. We would have to rip out all of the carpet, add power and medical gases, etc. What struck me was when they said they'd have 1-2 medical personnel monitoring per room. So 20+ beds and only 1 to 2 people? Is that normal? Then we went to another building they had on campus, where they had a big open shell space for "future expansion." It would have been great to be able to build it there, but the medical gases you guys use were not piped to the building...so it was going to be extremely expensive and time consuming to get the med gases into that space for a "just in case" scenario, so we kind of ditched that idea before exploring it very far. But then as we were leaving, we noticed on our way out that since that building wasn't originally designed with those big beds in mind, there were doorways that would need to be ripped out and rebuilt.

If it was a business decision alot of the sports (particularly women's sports) would go away.

I've said for a while now that we really needed this in order to be prepared for a much deadlier virus in the future. This trial run helped fix (and expose) some issues we had in the way we did things, and what kind of supplies and capacity we keep on hand. I think hospitals in highly densely populated areas need to be forced to carry more space for surge capacity in the case of a future breakout. That space can either be ready made, or easily built out to receive overflow patients.

You've already said you don't care what the results are. Weird flex but okay.

Why did you waste all of those words before this statement when you could have just cut to the chase. You don't care what actually happens, you don't like him either way. Shocker!

You need this for your soul

DeSantis was being attacked saying his state was going to be New York. It's not New York, and they have a long ways to go to get there. If Florida becomes New York, he was wrong. If it doesn't, while we have our opinions, he was not really wrong.

I feel like I have a good grasp on what's real and what's not when I'm watching the news shows on TV. I have a hard time doing that on CNN.com or Fox.com so I avoid them. If I'm reading print media/websites I go to other sources.
