  1. Do you have a source for 34,000 case of COVID-19 in Mecklenberg county?
  2. Considering that China put 70 infected people in the same place for quarantine and then dropped the building on them...I wouldn’t put anything past them.
  3. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I am a heavy face toucher. Not only do I touch my face in nervous ticks, I touch my face when thinking or observing something. On top of that, anytime I think of not touching my face, I immediately feel little itches on my face. I will try harder. Ha! Not knowing what the next step is here in Virginia Beach, I decided to spend my lunch hour stocking up on beer and liquor, just in case. I grabbed a big 1.75L of tequila, a 1.75L of vodka and then four 12 packs of IPA. Unfortunately I got into a car accident on the way home after work. It felt slightly awkward with the tow truck driver and Uber driver watching me transfer all that beer and liquor, but it is what it is. LOL
  4. As a side note to that, the Wal-Mart around the corner from my job finally has TP in stock. Its not much, its probably 10-15% of what they normally carry, but you can walk in and choose between about 4 different brands of 6 packs now. The way they did it was to finally start enforcing a strict 1 pack per customer rule. Now they are slowly building back up their TP stock.
  5. I wonder the same thing. I've heard alot of what ifs and looking ahead, but not alot of reality. There appears to be stress in a few hotspots that are densely populated. Other than that, the "system" doesn't seem to be overly stressed. Since alot of our media comes out of New York, when they experience something the talking heads have a way of making it seem like the entire country is going thru the same thing. They are not.
  6. During the recession in 2008/2009 the President of the company I was working for stopped taking his salary, while at the same time fighting to keep most of our staff in tact even when many people had nothing to do all day. The only reason I know about his salary is because I happen to see a printed email sitting on the Operations Manager's desk. Apparently the President went straight to the CFO and told her to cut off his salary, but don't tell anyone. The Operations Manager was checking overhead/labor costs and noticed something wasn't right. He sent an email to the CFO, and the CFO let him know what had happened.
  7. Call me crazy but even in your doomsday scenario of being fired the minute I walk back in the door in 12 weeks I'd rather have that happen and get thru the current epidemic than get fired immediately and not be able to find a job right now because nobody is hiring.
  8. This sucks, sorry it happened.
  9. The "design" is not the issue, its getting it into production and into the hands of people who need it.
  10. I knew a pathological liar in high school. It was my girlfriend's friend. You are right, its different when you meet someone like that. A lot of people will lie when they get in trouble, or have a particular agenda for lying. But she'd lie when there was absolutely no reason to lie. It was just a part of her DNA.
  11. Deaths are the most important number to track. It gives context and meaning to the infection number. I'm also trying to keep up with ICU visits that don't result in death. That number is a lot harder to track, but its also an important factor.
  12. In what I've read, it doesn't appear that GM, Ford, etc are just going to suddenly get into the respirator business. They are working with medical equipment companies as a partnership, and giving them whatever assistance they need. The auto makers would have instant access to a vast network of open space to build things, a ready made work force, contractors on speed dial to immediately install whatever is required for the machinery, etc. They also mentioned the advanced 3D printers playing a part.
  13. Thanks for the clarification. When I read "Tesla to build ventilators" and "Elon Musk delivers ventilators" I put the two together, not realizing they were separate issues.
  14. You seem pretty sure of yourself, so I figured you had given this some thought and done some research. I guess you are just speaking from emotion and not facts.
  15. That's alot of words without an answer. So let's take the 30,000 number. How many ventilators do you think they actually need? More than 30,000 and that's just the remainder? Less than 30,000? Exactly 30,000?
  16. And to repeat: So in your estimation, what part does the hospital, the city of New York and the state of New York play in the need for ventilators?
  17. From what I read Elon Musk set up a shop to build some medical equipment and has already started sending it out. So I'd imagine its not that difficult. the key is getting in touch with the right machinery people and having the space available to set up shop.
  18. So in your estimation, what part does the hospital, the city of New York and the state of New York play in the need for ventilators?
  19. And then decades from now, people will complain that the warehoused supplies are old or outdated. LOL
  20. The federal isn't void, the states have just done a good job of convincing people that they don't have a higher responsibility in all of this. Our country is set up in a particular way, and our local and state governments are on the front lines of this. The feds are there to assist, not take over every hospital in every city in the entire country.
  21. "Like a prick, you're having second thoughts. You're shrinking, and your two little balls are shrinking with ya. And the fact that you've got "Replica" written on the side of your guns. And the fact that I've got "Desert Eagle .50" written on the side of mine, should precipitate your balls into shrinking, along with your presence. Now f*** off!"
  22. I'd like to see how that plan works when you say "hey, if you have asthma, you no longer have a job. Everyone else, back to work. By the way, everyone with asthma please raise your hand now. Wait, noone?"
  23. July 24th is a ways away but you can't wait until the last minute to make a decision and still have a successful Olympics. People are gonna need to know one way or the other soon.
