  1. So if you want a test, you can get a test...correct?
  2. Per capita is a warped way of looking at it, I agree.
  3. Its interesting how different countries are handling this. But to be fair to Chy-nah, when they go into "lockdown" its much more restrictive than here in the United States. I'd venture to say we couldn't do what Chy-Nah did here in the US, other than in particular communities (most likely highly dense downtown type areas).
  4. This is a calculation that each person makes, with some having much more dire consequences than others. There is a risk vs reward to living life, and that's how its always going to be. The idea that "no life is worth X enjoyable thing" is in many ways saying that no life is worth living, and we should spend all of our time trying to extend our lives rather than enjoying it. No thanks, Jeff.
  5. Exactly. Anything less than a full lockdown from now until eternity is admitting there is an acceptable level of death.
  6. We had 2 of our guys who potentially came into contact with an infected person. The way it played out was completely different based on how things have changed. Late March - Our guy couldn't get tested, and the sick guy that they came into contact with had to jump thru hoops to get tested, and we aren't even sure if they eventually gave him a test or not, Beginning of June - Our guy was tested immediately, as well as every other person that was identified as a possible contact with the infected person. The infected person wasn't even "sick," they came up as positive after taking the test without symptoms...because we can do that now.
  7. I told you if you shared the pic of us at the gym, you had to blur out the faces!
  8. Yeah, I like to do CNN and Fox back and forth and see the differences in coverage. My gym is pretty big, and if there were "only" 15 people in there it would look almost empty. I've worked out at a bunch of different times and days of the week. Its funny how different the vibe is at different times. With early morning workouts, that crowd was so much more about their workout than the after work crowd. Monday's after work are the worst, so I made Monday's my rest day years ago. If I really want peace with nobody in the gym, that's Friday evening. Holy cow its a ghost town.
  9. I view it different, particularly at my gym. So I will be there and I will do whatever they tell me to do. I think the worst case scenario is a bar/club type place. I told my wife its going to be a while before I go back to a bar, which is saying alot because we love going to bars once or twice a week. I'll do a restaurant, but not a bar.
  10. The funniest exchange was when he was having a lengthy back and forth with some guy, and the guy was reading him the riot act basically for not being black enough and not saying the right stuff (as is the case alot with him). In the middle of the argument my cousin has to leave, because he organized a rally that afternoon. Next thing you know my cousin is on FB live on stage surrounded by people at a rally, talking to the people at the event about what they were going to do to make the community safer, etc. And you know the guy he was arguing with probably didn't do nothing but argue on the computer all day. LOL
  11. My gym here in Virginia opened today as well. They are supposed to be at 30% capacity or something like that. But how do you judge peak capacity in a gym? Is it dictated by floor space? Pieces of equipment? Typical number of people in the gym at one time?
  12. I had some friends on FB that were bragging about New Zealand. I had to show them where New Zealand was on a map.
  13. Interesting take, particularly since my cousin is definitely not a "rule follower." He actively challenges "rules" all the time, and when he gets into some territory where he's not being "equally compliant," people pounce. And again I find that hysterical because he gets more done for the community in a month than the people yelling at him have done in their lifetimes.
  14. I wish I would have saved a meme I saw the other day about this. It was basically a cookie cutter, fill in the blanks for corporate virtue signaling where they say words that sound good but they don't actually do anything. As far as individuals, I have a cousin in Chicago who is an interesting character. He doesn't "say all of the right things" like people want him to, so you'll see a ton of people get on his case. But what's interesting is that he's highly involved in the community and even in getting legislation passed. He a doer, not just a talker. So its interesting watching him go back and forth with people on facebook, with people taking the virtue high ground on him...but they don't actually DO anything. Just virtue signal all day.
  15. I live in Virginia Beach and my parents live down in Myrtle Beach. I liked it when tourist towns shut down because I didn't like the idea of New Yorkers (and others) having the virus and bringing it down to these locations. Tourist towns were more susceptible to being "okay" one day and then having an explosion the next because of all of the outsiders coming in. ICU beds "all over the country" were not past their capacity. That was a false narrative.
  16. People have penned up energy, but I'd also say the media (of all forms) has a captive audience right now. People would normally be distracted with other things on a daily basis, but they've got time to obsess over stuff now in a way they couldn't before.
  17. Just like I said earlier. She has to push back on it, or else she'll catch hell from her voters.
  18. Its not hospital related but related to furlough's. I was working with a rep from a different company and all of a sudden he went out of touch in March. Late last week he emailed me getting our projects back up and running again. He explained that on a Friday at 2pm back in March they just walked up to him and told him he was on furlough...effective immediately. Leave everything, and leave NOW! WTH? Talk about a bad way to handle it.
  19. I will patiently wait for people to go ape poo a week or so from now about how the protests killed people's grandmother's. Anxiously waiting, waiting, waiting...
  20. Let me say it again... ...making light of the people who think you are more susceptible to the virus if you are having fun.
  21. Making light of the people who think you can only get the virus when you are doing something fun. But you already knew that.
  22. I was making light of the people who seem to only care about gatherings when people are having fun. They will be silent on any flare ups after this. But they'll be all over the next pool party.
  23. I am waiting for a spike, and for people to tie it back to the protests. Waiting, waiting, waiting...
  24. I worked for UPS for a semester in college and I was highly impressed at how seriously they took the packages. Like you, if I have something important to ship, I always use UPS.
