Zach Wilson is boom or bust and should not be started year one
Wes21 replied to Ja Rhule's topic in Carolina Panthers
You are a smart guy so I expect a better conversation. He ran around looking for something. It turns out, it wasn't there. It happens, it doesn't mean he needs to be taken out behind the shed and shot. But the alternative isn't throwing the ball away every down. Mahomes is young and human. -

The debate has already gone in a direction that doesn't fit your narrative when you have taken a position that a QB has to run around for X seconds or throw the ball away and there is no solution inbetween. On the 7th day God rested, because he created Patrick Mahomes. -

Patrick Mahomes once got a math problem wrong. Math changed to fit his answer, because Mahomes can't possibly be wrong. -

Or he could have just gotten rid of the football quickly like Brady would have done in the same circumstances. But I know...running around and looking for the homerun play every down was the ONLY option. -

Its interesting to me how Patrick Mahomes gets a pass on everything that other QBs are scorned for. With him its not "inconsistent footwork" its "OMG I love how he can adapt his feet to any situation!" He's not "overly aggressive," he's "a threat on any down to score." He doesn't have "inconsistent arm angles..." well you get the point. I consider Wilson to be in the Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers mold. If that's not what you want, you shouldn't draft him. And as fans of football none of us should want a team to draft him who isn't going to let him do his thing. Well dang - I just had a scary thought for the first time. Wilson in Atlanta. OMG. -

You are asking a question that has a deeper answer than a football forum can provide in an honest way. -

Surely the attorney who was hell bent on justice with no other motives (per his speeches) will happily step aside and see justice served in a court of law. I will patiently wait while I hold my breath. -
It will be weird if they expand it TOO much but I agree something should probably be done. There is kind of a log jam at certain numbers.

Wow, I didn't even notice this. You are right, it was Cam and Nick going in the 1st round. Then there were two 7th round picks in that draft. Only 1 Auburn guy got drafted the following year, and he was a 4th round pick. Only 1 Auburn guy got drafted the year after that, and he was a 3rd round pick. I just did a comparison to UNC around the same time and holy smokes its a night and day difference. They were stacked with NFL talent.

What was the boldest move the franchise DIDN'T make
Wes21 replied to electro's horse's topic in Carolina Panthers
If the Stafford rumors are true, I would have to say that's the boldest move that wasn't made. Thats a bunch of compensation for a 33 year old QB. -
I almost feel like the gimmicky offense held Lawrence back. He wasn't able to just get back and rip it as much as alot of other teams would have had him doing. He was too busy with all the fancy ball tricks and misdirection they were trying.

Yes, because I spent my entire 20+ hours that I wasn't posting on the board looking for one snippet of film. Good call.

Just like they drew it up, am I right?

So you are admitting to trolling and not watching the game?

He did a great job blocking...for a WR.

This is a great idea. I mean, clubbing with THOTS during a pandemic worked out so well for Dwayne Haskins.

To me Darnold is like Teddy in the sense that you know what you are getting, and it isn't a top shelf franchise QB. However I feel like Darnold is an upgrade from Teddy. Teddy is stuck as 14 TD and 10 INT kind of a guy. I feel like a career year for Teddy might be something like 18 TDs to only 8 INTs or something like that. I think a team picking up Darnold is getting a 25 TD and 12 INT type guy if they put a decent cast around him. That's where he will live I think, with the potential to have a 30+ TD season scattered in there. AKA Andy Dalton with a better arm.

17 Game Season on the way!!! What y’all think?
Wes21 replied to BurnNChinn's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don't like it, but that's because I've got a boomer mentality when it comes to number of games and how it impacts records, etc. To me 16 has always seemed perfect. I do wonder if this will make it slightly easier to get a ticket to a game in a season with 9 homes games vs 8. And with an added game, it gives Teddy an outside of chance of getting to 16 TD passes in a season. On the other hand I love the new playoff format adding a team and only giving 1 team a bye week. -
I agree. Build for the future QB. And Teddy will make sure we are well positioned to draft that guy.
-
I'm glad someone said it. Its funny watching people debate a defensive formation we are going to be in so little.
-
Sticking with Teddy 2 Gloves is a much better idea. He makes sure we will be picking at the top of the draft each year, so we will have several shots at taking a QB high.

You shut your peeper there buddy!

I think things took a turn for the worse after that point in time. JJ Watt wasn't asking to get out back then either.
