I thought that Dan's comment about bringing in players fed into what we've heard Tepper say he wanted with the Panthers. And the idea of putting the offices of the coaches and decision makers around eachother fed into the same concept. Dan has some fun with his recent interview on Pardon My Take. But one thing he said that relates back to what we are trying to build is the idea that every player is OUR player. Players shouldn't sit around thinking about whether they are the GMs guy or the Owner's guy or the Coaches guy. If you take the time to discuss it together and reach a consensus on each acquisition, you can put that on the back burner. I still remember someone from the Washington Football Team saying how RG3 would go to Dan Snyder whenever he had an issue with the team or the coaching. And players and coaches felt weird that he was the owner's guy. Its a ridiculously long video and Campbell doesn't even enter until halfway thru it but I know source material is important.

I like to bring this up to see the tap dancing.

I prefer to be called Sir Richard Longfellow -
They didn't practice not throwing the ball to the other team.

I love it when someone says they aren't going to make excuses but finds a way to list of excuses.

Panthers win the "most rested team" award this season.
Wes21 replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
If you want to look at it as a positive...I can tell you that the 2011 and 2010 Lions teams were overachievers and had no business winning as many games as they did with those rosters. -
I would be willing to do around $200-250 per ticket depending on the game. I always assume I am buying 2 tickets so that's $400-500. I probably wouldn't go to a game by myself if I had to pay anything over $300. Two years ago (2019 season) I bought 2 tickets to go see the Chiefs in the wildcard round at Arrowhead. Its a bucket list thing. They were $150 a piece. When the Pats unexpectedly lost the final week of the season, it elevated the Chiefs beyond the wildcard into the next round. I thought my tickets were no good until I contact the ticket agent. The verbiage on my tickets were "first postseason game" so that meant my cheaper tickets were now good for a more expensive round. I quickly flipped them and made about $250 profit off the pair.

Just how good are we expecting Jaycee Horn to be?
Wes21 replied to RIPTreyLance's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mark my words he will be one of the corners to ever play in the NFL. -
This is how I look at mocks, particularly outside of the top 5 or so picks. One single pick in the 1st round sends a ripple effect thru the rest of the draft. So its unrealistic to think that people are going to nail exact picks for an entire round. You just have to look to see where the players generally were located. And if the guy nails the value then he nailed his mock.
-
To me the corner position has evolved and the prospects are bettter and "longer." But for some weird reason the value placed on these guys suddenly took a dive. Guys like Morris Claiborne and Justin Gilbert were overdrafted because teams fell in love with the idea that they could be a guy like Horn or even Surtain II. Ramsey came along and was actually the guy they envisioned, not just a dream of it. Horn and Surtain have come along and presented a similar package, but in an odd year where QBs and WRs sucked the oxygen out of the room...these guys have been overlooked by fans. And to bring the point home, not too many years ago these guys would have been big talking points and most fanbases would have had visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads. LOL

BREAKING: A.Rodgers wants out of Green Bay
Wes21 replied to firefox1234's topic in Carolina Panthers
Mike McCarthy came out and said one of the reasons why they passed on Rodgers for Alex Smith when Mike was with the 49ers was because of Rodgers attitude and personality. What's interesting is if you hear stories about how Favre and some of the guys who were close with Favre treated Aaron...that attitude and cockiness was what helped him survive it and overcome it. -
I guess that's better than shrimp And how is this an "off the field" issue when he's literally doing it ON the field?
-
That makes it clear. He's trading up for Lawrence.

This ^^^. I have a million bad things to say about JJand his "genius drafting" but I can't fault his chart. So many trades fall in line with his chart that I have no reason to ever seek out a different chart. The only thing I feel I have to add is I am willing to deviate from the chart based on the situation. Its funny when I meet a "numbers guy" who has the position that you can never deviate from the chart. Their desire to find another chart is because they feel they have to have some quantifiable number to validate a decision they make. Its a weird existence that I can't relate to, but more power to those people.

Its like watching The Real World or some other reality shows on TV. The group gets into the house and they are so excited and "OMG I love ALL of you in the house. There are NO bad people here and we are absolutely going to get along PERFECT!" Then fast forward 2 weeks...LOL

I remember when they officially let receivers and TEs wear numbers in the teens in 2004. Almost all of the top pass catchers grabbed numbers in the teens. The top 3 (Larry Fitzgerald, Kellen Winslow and Roy Williams) specifically grabbed #11. Kellen Winslow ended up buying #80 off of a teammate going into the season. I think #1 is going to be one of the hottest numbers in the league now. So it goes back to what someone else asked...do we retire it?
-
It will be a thing immediately, just like the last number rule change. The incoming rookies and guys who have changed teams will be first in line.

Isn't that what happens when you eat gluten as well?

“Next thing that’s very important to me is that we build a smart football team, that we have a smart football team here, and I know we have the people in place to do that,” he said. “The first part of being smart is knowing what to do. We’re going … we’re going to know … we’re going to have systems in place that are easier to learn, alright? Complicated to the defense or offense that they’re going against, or the special teams group they’re going against, but easy for us to learn. Because when we can learn our system, and we can get good at our system, then our talent can take over. Less thinking equals talent take over. But we need to have systems in place, and we will have systems in place to do so.”

Let's take a QB in the 2nd round, what's the worst that can happen? LOL
-
I remeber when people were saying that about Josh Gordon. I'm like "dude, he's on like 8th chance AT LEAST at this point...and counting."

A team should never dumpster dive for offensive lineman, because being below the point of competence has a tremendous negative impact. But I will once again remind you that while the Panthers went 15-1 and were in the Super Bowl...the Cleveland Browns were 3-13 with the best LT, C and RT in the NFL. And just for fun their LG was the 35th overall pick who became a pro bowler as well.
