That's the whole thing! The media wanted a feel good story. Like when the camera showed him giving help to the homeless person. They wanted the Malik Willis story to lead ESPN in clicks, etc. Meanwhile, LOTS of kids in the Draft were "good kids with a big heart". Pickett got that quick bit on ... what was it Big Brothers Big Sisters? Then all the kids with immigrant parents got their time in the sun. The media thought they had the biggest story in years with Willis.

I'd love to find an article on it, but this was like 1992 or 1993. The Internet was like ... I'm new here back then. It was my 5th day at the new school and my mom picked me up. She asked, how was your day? I was like, someone got murdered! I think it was over a girl. Some people say it was a knife, others say a pencil! But yes, one kid stabbed abnother to death. I don't like nor dislike PJ ... he sucks. That's all I feel about him. As for Matt, as long as he acts like a decent human being and not a teenager and ends up making us a winner, I'm all for it. QB is such a high profile spot. People HATE A-rod, Brady, Brees, Matty Ice, etc. It's just par for the course. They hate the guy, not the player.

I don't know anything about Corral, so I don't dislike his personality ... yet. If he's some showboat punk, yeah it'll rub me the wrong way. Sorry, I like my QBs to be men. No one is going to pick up Sam and the money owed to him for him to be a backup.

Because they see him as a nerdy dork IMHO. Just like with Clausen. Clausen sucked, yes, but if he were ... "cool", people would have given him a chance. Sam has no swag (which some fans here love more than the DAMN TEAM), so when he underperforms, his dorkiness gets to them. Jake was a fiesty gunslinger, Cam had the swag, some guys even gave PJ a break! So even when these guys played like crap, some people let it slide.

You give Same 3 games behind a MUCH improved line while Matt learns the system. If Sam is what Sam is, and Matt is ready to go, you put him in. If not, you sink again with Sam and get a good draft pick next season. If Sam plays great ... great. And Matt learns behind him and you deal with "who next" when the time comes. You don't just cut Sam because he played poorly behind a terrible line. You have to see what he can do. The ultimate Let You Know test. If you gave He Who I Must Not Name every excuse under the sun for years, Sam can get a few too.
