  1. One would hope the powers that be in our organization gathered that intel before pulling the trigger on this deal.
  2. I would not be surprised with the Patriots trading up at all. This offseason Bellicheat has behaved in a most unBellicheat way, throwing money around in a fashion that reeks of desperation. I have a strong feeling he sees his legacy going down the tubes as Brady just won another SB without him while his Bradyless Patriots floundered. He may very well fear the forming consensus that the question has been answered which part of that dynasty was most important and it wasn't him. I just wish they could have both failed, but I'll take it.
  3. I would be mad at 8 only because my philosophy is no non pass rushing lb is worth the 8th pick in the draft in today's NFL. Nothing against the very impressive Mr. Parsons. Past the top half of first round is a different conversation, but MLB just cannot impact the game enough to merit a top 10 pick anymore IMO. It is arguably the least important position on the defensive side of the ball these days.
  4. I for one am okay with a proven young talent at qb having to sit out for a year to let his body heal and recover from football especially if his trade value is going down. All of this is predicated on him being cleared of wrongdoing. I can't pull for someone who's a sexual predator off the field, but I'm perfectly willing to give him the benefit of the doubt until the process plays itself out.
  5. I don't need training to make armchair speculations and assume complex medical conditions exist based on zero personal experience with a person? You're right I don't. I'll just refrain from doing so. I will however feel free to continue to criticize actual self destructive behavior and push back when people take it upon themselves to criticize me for doing so based on their own assertions backed by absolutely zero actual diagnosis.
  6. Probably because we are calling it like we see it instead of conjecturing wildly on things that *might* be true and criticizing others for not taking such hypotheticals into account before criticizing. Did you really honestly expect that if you are the closest thing to a therapist here, that all these laymen with no medical training whatsoever should have looked at Wilson's behavior and thought, hrm, that could be a star athlete not taking his responsibilities seriously and behaving like an entitled star athlete, but it's more likely a complex medical condition I should give him the benefit of the doubt on without an actual medical opinion on the issue and hold my tongue? Even if you are the closest thing to a therapist here, that doesn't change the validity of the criticism in the least. No one here is criticizing a schizophrenic, they are criticizing self destructive behavior that you and you alone have decided *might* be schizophrenic, and feel entitled to chastise others based on your own determination that by your own words, everyone else is less qualified to make.
  7. Aye. As much as college coaches like go on about their players being family, and Dabo Sweeney in particular being noted for cultivating that environment, it wouldn't look great if you had a star player play for you for four years, and somehow failed to either notice or take action on signs of significant mental health problems. That's not what we do for family, but it does sound a lot like how we might treat young men we're exploiting for our own gain.
  8. Behaving stupidly is behaving stupidly regardless of the underlying cause. You're coming dangerously close to saying no one should call out dumb behavior because that person *might* have an undiagnosed condition, which is not all that far from saying no one should be called out for anything ever, because who knows what they might have that we don't know about? Whether he has a condition or not, his behavior has been undeniably self destructive. If you want to call that kicking dirt, I'm okay with kicking dirt on self destructive behavior. It might be what he finally needs to get treated, if there is indeed a condition. In my experience, just plain old stupid is incurable though, and this also perfectly fits the bill for just plain old stupid, so absent a medical opinion, I'm comfortable with the dirt kicking.
  9. Let's turn your point on it's head: Please name for me the college program that has consistently and reliably produced more quality NFL QB's than duds over the last 20 years. I'll wait. Even the best college programs simply do not reliably produce good NFL qb's. According to this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_starting_quarterbacks_in_the_National_Football_League only Oklahoma currently has more than 2 starting NFL QB's, and that list is Mayfield, Murray and Jalen Hurts. In terms of producing QB's that start in the NFL, that's the top of the list right now. Making the argument that some QB prospect should be discounted because the school he comes from doesn't have some outstanding track record of recent success at producing NFL QB talent is an inherently flawed one for this reason.
  10. The tears of billionaires who demand stadiums be built with my tax dollars but the profits from all events at said stadiums go into their pockets are a joy to me, not a burden. Thanks for letting me know of this, it makes my day just a little brighter.
  11. No amount of money compensates for the cray cray. I don't want to have to live in and around and next to the cray cray. If Deshaun is smart, neither will he, and from all accounts and appearances, he seems like a pretty smart young man.
  12. I would be willing to trade DJ, and I like DJ a lot. Quality WR's are not that difficult to acquire in the NFL. Quality pass rushers are harder to get your hands on, so no Burns.
  13. He did play better last year but I'm not excited about him or the 10 mil. I think he falls into the range of "played well enough that we keep him, cross our fingers he at least comes close to living up to his price tag, and fill more pressing needs while he plays out his contract, then replace with young and cheap."
  14. 10 mil for a center not expensive? I think you and I might have a different understanding of the word expensive.
  15. Yeah, cause they were such a solid organization before he arrived. Makes it hard to tell if it was just him or not...
  16. This will get automatic pie from me from now til the end of time.
  17. I am standing in solidarity with the players against the 17 game season by refusing to acknowledge the results of any games played against the Jets, Texans or WFT. I hereby declare these games Fake Sports.
  18. Mel Kiper has great hair and is good at doublespeak on tv. His track record at draft prognostication is not the one I would put my faith in if required back a guy's predictions.
  19. Probably the Lions, who would almost certainly expect pick 8 as bare minimum compensation. To be fair you could trade for Stafford and look to draft his replacement a few years down the road, but ask Aaron Rogers how franchise qb's feel about a team using high picks to draft their potential replacements towards the end of their career vs filling immediate needs in an effort to maximize their present qb's career potential. Edit for additional thoughts: If we were able to acquire Stafford without giving up pick 8, I'd still say our priority with it would need to be acquiring a LT to protect him.
  20. If the Panthers are even confirmed to seriously pursue Stafford, let alone acquire him, it would make me question their commitment to "The Process" since it definitely seems like a move that would sacrifice the long term for the short term. No one can really argue that trading for a 32 year old qb, however durable, is a better long term move than drafting one, and "The Process" as elucidated by Rhule and Tepper, is definitely about making short term sacrifices for long term benefits.
  21. Implying one shouldn't acquire a LT to protect your franchise qb before getting said qb by pointing to a single example, especially when that single example is widely regarded as the best young qb in the league, and particularly effective at both getting the ball out quick and maneuvering or scrambling to avoid the rush is cherry picking the argument. Yes, if one could be assured of getting a franchise qb whose skills in these highly specific areas were as good as Mahomes, then prioritizing the OL wouldn't make sense. Since it's entirely possible to get a talented qb who doesn't happen to be almost inhumanly good at these qualities that mitigate the need for a good OL, maybe we should consider possible outcomes beyond ONLY the absolute best we could hope for, like say for instance Joe Burrow's rookie season being cut short by injury behind a porous OL, and factor those into our thinking. It's not having it both ways, it's looking at more than just what you want to see to support your own argument.
