Burns trolls everyone’s favorite beat writer

Say what you want about The Rolling Stones. Mick at 80 puts on a better show than most performers less than half his age. That pretty much speaks for itself. -
"a team that, while is 3-0, isn’t in the same class"

Yeah, we know we won't see you when your sorry ass every single year a pretender that falls apart overhyped team gets shown for what they are. Again. You'll just disappear like the pretender fan for a pretender team you are. -
Yeah that is a little concerning. Football is a violent, physically demanding game. It wouldn't have bothered me if he had said that he wasn't a football fan at age 4, but a guy saying present tense that he's not a big football fan (and it's not remotely apparent that he's being tongue in cheek or sarcastic) worries me. Let's hope he's money motivated, because then we can still get great production out of him based just on his desire to earn as much for himself as possible, but I hope he doesn't turn out to be someone that took this path in life only because he had the gifts and it was expected of him.

I've always liked the suggestion of Red Tails. The Tuskegee Airmen were a groundbreaking group who distinguished themselves serving their country in the war to defeat one of the greatest threats free societies have ever faced. They embody many of the ideals we share as americans: courage, hard work in overcoming obstacles, achievement based on merit. Washington as the seat of the federal government could do a lot worse than to pick a mascot for it's team that symbolizes values held by the entire country. Now if you really wanna strike fear into the hearts of opponents with something relevant to the region, you could always just go with the Washington Auditors. But that doesn't have the same energy. Or any energy really. Am I saying the IRS is a soul devouring outfit that sucks the life out of anything it touches? Yes.

This might be my favorite thing said on the huddle this week, SCP excepted.

THIS GUY GETS IT! -
I figure we need at least 3. If we are super lucky then the two rookies on the roster might be two of those 3, but more likely just one of the two will pan out. If we use next year's first on a top OL, that still leaves us needing to acquire one more OL from the draft or FA, and that's not to build an amazing line, but just to make the line not a weakness.
-
Please reread my OP. Nowhere did I say that would net us a starting Left Tackle. What I actually said was, with Fitty's magic touch it might net us an olineman (didn't specify position since everything except one tackle needs an upgrade) who would be an upgrade. YOU put words in my mouth by responding to what you interpreted my post to say, rather than what it actually said. Also there was a pretty high level of over the topishness in the post that should have signaled just how seriously it should be taken (not terribly).

I'd trade Robby even though I like him if it gets us a quality OL, so I'm down with that idea. Before Fitty I would have said no one would give up anything valuable for shi or the likes of Daley, but poo man, the dude got something for Greg Little. Greg @#%ing Little! Nothing is beyond him. Do I think any of that is likely? Nah, but atm I'm enjoying the possibilities in a way that I never did under previous regimes. I think what's far more likely than a far fetched dream scenario I outlined fairly tongue in cheek is at most we're able to add one decent but not outstanding vet, and one of the two rookies proves up to holding down the fort at a spot for the second half of the season, and we finish up with an O line better than what we have now, but that is still only mediocre instead of bad. I see this being enough for us to get to the playoffs, but not make a lot of noise in them.

After our win against Houston I was pretty much in the thought pattern of: Damn even with these injuries we got a pretty nice team coming together if you don't count the Oline. That's the one thing holding us back. After the CJ Anderson trade I am not putting it past Fitty and Rhule to pull another one off at some point, say maybe trading Shi Smith (gonna have a hard time getting the ball thrown his way as much as he deserves being the 4th WR) and Daley ("Sure he looks awful on tape (insert some hapless bottom dwelling GM's name here), but that's only because he's allergic to the blue in our uniforms. Your team colors are completely different. He'll look like an All Pro for you! Besides, you're getting fired next month anyway, so why not get back at your owner?) I could see Fitty finding a way to bring in one key piece with another trade, maybe a center to replace Paraplegic, I mean Paradis. Then if the rookies are up to starting around say midseason, we're in position to roll. I mean look gang, after the Cowgirls, we don't play another team with a winning record til Arizona FIVE WEEKS later. Our schedule looks like one that could afford us some breathing room early to be patient while our new OL develop. Then we go into the tougher back half of our schedule with a retooled line that at least isn't a glaring weakness. By then we have CMC back and with this D and potent skill position players... The point is, it doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility that we have to live with a completely subpar Oline all season anymore. Who knows what could happen?

Why do we keep trading our FA acquisitions?
1of10Charnatives replied to BurnNChinn's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just looking at straight tackles for a LB can be deceptive and is not always a good indicator of quality of play. If a guy is the weak link they're gonna go to his part of the field over and over, and he might get a ton of tackles, wheras a lb playing at a higher level might have fewer tackles because his skill set allows him to be more effective in coverage so there are fewer throws to his man, or the tackles he does have result in fewer yards gained. -
too many syllables. Catchy has to be punchy. short and sweet. Also it has to roll off the tongue. Snow StormTroopers doesn't flow. I like Snow Storm, it flows.

Yeah. No. Right there in the gut. Thanks bro. Think you could just twist it around a little while you're at it? I was having too good of a day with the trade and all.... *cries a little* I'll be fine. Really.
