  1. there’s actually people mad CMC doesn’t take this team seriously when Rhule is the coach lol prolly saw that clown walk in and start ya king away about DBO bs then decide to take it easy until the next regimen or team
  2. They could get a 2/3rd but you all think they’d rather have Darnold for 20 mil lololol
  3. with our cap and not being able to afford our own damn players let alone FA…i am not quite sure how it’s even possible or what kind of logic/analytics explain how Rhule will somehow possibly get better results from a worse team… but i guess Tepper knows something we don’t
  4. Wow. I thought players knew the ref had to touch it. I mean that’s why players are always running the ball to one in close games/in general. Had they done this, easy 1 second left. They actually tried to set their own ball/spot lol
  5. Granted Herbert almost made it. And rankings are subjective. But he was ranked top 5…and had an oline ranked 10. It was the defense that did them in. It’s pretty bad. I wasn’t disputing QB…but there seems to be some sentiment an ‘ok’ oline will suffice and while that may be true to possible make the playoffs, it hasn’t been true for continuing in the playoffs, aside a few anomalous (which had a HOF qb btw) in the past two decades.
  6. Sunce it’s football Sunday, figured I’d spark a little more conversation. For another debate inspired by the QB thread. Let’s look at oline. Summary - Oline takes you deep in playoffs. 2021 Oline rankings: Raiders 28 (lost) Bengals 20 Titans 16 Bills 17 Patriots 9 (lost) Steelers 26 Chiefs 5 Cardinals 15 Rams 7 Packers 14 49ers 3 Cowboys 1 Eagles 4 Bucs 2 -8 of the top 10 ranked olines made the playoffs - the top 5 olines made the playoffs, all of the top 5 ranked qbs did not - poor olines sabotaged good qbs that should be in the playoffs (and will continue to do so the further we go) - only 5 out of 14 teams in the playoffs have a below average oline, and historical statistics heavily favor the last 4 will be in the top 10 -consistent model, historically it should be known going deep in the playoffs consists of smart QB play vs. effective/flashy qb play. Nevertheless, comparing Super Bowl teams in the last two decades have 3 glaring common factors in statistical order: 1. Top defense 2. Top oline 3. QB -only a few (literally) examples of a team making the super bowl in 20 years with a below average oline, and to a slightly lesser degree, top 10 I should also add we are talking deep playoffs…not simply making the playoffs. I understand making the playoffs has become our super bowl but it’s a low bar. There are 14 teams left, that’s almost half the NFL. These points will become more apparent further in the playoffs, as it consistently has, just the same, the last 20 years. This is not downgrading the importance of qb at all, just presenting an argument oline is just as important. You simply cannot ‘get by’ with a mediocre oline, that is false. Unless ‘getting by’ means making the playoffs and no further.
  7. Beane should’ve already been promoted. They kept Hurney, even rehired him, which was dumb. That wasn’t hindsight. McD is a little trickier. Do you fire Rivera after only one shitty year removed from a super bowl? Plus the year after we went 11-5. This could’ve been hindsight.
  8. Yea but cam TD and Olsen all went on the play like trash and their contracts were expiring, you you rather of signed them all farewell/twilight contracts and pretended it be a good team? I think Luke’s unexpected retirement definitely hurt though. but still I don’t think this was the issue, the issue was the fact the panthers never invested in drafting gross replacement, letting Hurney totally fug the cap, never Planning ahead for cans replacement, Tepper keeping Hurney, and then hiring Rhule. These are the issues that kept us in hell.
  9. and continued to pay a coach aka ‘pie chart’ reasons because it would hurt his revenue some people are really fuging stupid when it comes to JR, JR was dumb as a rock, he made it in a era where as a white privileged male he competed with literally no one and he was afforded a degree. this age would chew him up and spit him out they covet his dumbass but he’d be behind bars if he didn’t have enough money to pay for non disclosure lol result wise, JR had success every 5 years of misery. we are on year 4. It’s not looking good but anyone saying 4 years is enough to compare to 25 is clearly not being objective, fact is more time is needed
  10. I think Fit is just sharing his thoughts…we all know he does not have much say in the actual pick.
  11. I mean rookie all pro lts are pretty common, he’s a guard anyways, and he has a mobile qb, don’t forget about Horn, if he played this year we wouldn’t even need oline
  12. Silver lining, don’t bitch, it’s all we have people: 1. The cap. It isn’t great now but will be abundant in 2023. 1a. Contracts. I believe big contracts/5th year options are due 2023/2024 barring negotiations beforehand. Also, things like CMCs clause etc. The new coach should and will have a say on these. We won’t really be stuck with anyone, at least not for long, aside from Moton and possibly Shaq (who will be restructured). 2. Gutted draft. Between this and the cap…it really could not be a worse starting point for new regimen. 3. Taking into consideration points 1 and 2, this isn’t at all a desirable spot to land as an new HC, added to the fact there is no QB or oline here. There is nothing but a decent defense to sell to upcoming coaches (who care about winning and money) compared to other teams, we’re bottom of the barrel all things considered. 3a. With a great cap outlook in 2023 and all draft picks, and a ton of new NFL coaches this year, next year, we will have better luck finding much needed coach willing to come in a more coach-friendly environment for success. ‘Pick of the litter’ or what have you. 4. Poor QB draft. Next year is much, much better. Along with the cap and another poo season from Rhule, great position for a coach to come in to. In our state as it is, no worthwhile QB will come here and a new regimen will be doomed for a year or forced to reach. 5. Controversial maybe, but I believe it will matter to some coaching talent out there the fact Tepper gave a more than a reasonable amount of time (three years) to Rhule. For a fan this sucks but as a potential coach I think this matters. 6. Fitt or a new GM will finally get their input on the coach. Why you let Hurney have input on a coach and then fire him? Quite the ass backwards blunder. Pretty rare to see this happen, especially with an unproven coach, college at that. (possible) 7. Tepper learns his lesson. Yet to be seen, but he gains more experience and possibly gets the help he needs to do this right. Hard to not admit some level of failure when Rhule fails again and fans called it the year prior. Smart people learn from mistakes. We must as fans hope for this from our team’s owner. Hopefully we see something here. Rhule may be here next year, time to accept nothing will be done about this. I feel Tep would be smart to keep Rhule on track in his own ‘process’ and demand results with Darnold, don’t even let him draft a QB. What’s important now is keeping these silver linings in place. I feel what is going to be interesting is how much leeway he will have not only on trading future draft picks but also signing players long term/new contracts that a new regimen may not. This will be telling. And for all that’s holy, we can only hope he will be on a very short leash in this regard.
  13. Horn could have played lights out and the season’s results would have been closer to the same than if had Rhule picked Slater. It’s not that Horn is bad, it’s that Slater would have helped this specific team significantly more and if your coach is unable to assess that due to a fuging dumb reason…it’s a really bad sign. Not only this point but he was good signing two god awful olineman with injury histories to decent money when no one else wanted them within seconds of FA. On top of it all he tries to downplay Slater’s play as if he cannot accept in any capacity he is doing well and justify his pick. Arrogance of knowing it all. That’s going to hurt this franchise. He cannot evaluate olineman or QBs. The no 2 and 3 most important factors in a winning team after a stout defense. That will not win anything. There was a HOF coach that said if you’re just looking for prototypical size and not the player overall as a person and in your scheme, you will fail. Or something like that. I forgot who it was.
  14. JR went through two stints of misery lasting 5+ years in between success. This is not new. The Panthers have always been a below average franchise (surprise!). We are on year 4. I agree it’s looking bad and if we are going in to 2023 with the same bullshit we can then act like this level of suck is unprecedented and we are doomed. Granted there isn’t a lot of time left and it doesn’t look good. But I am not phased. 2-3 more years and I’ll check out.
  15. i’d still like to see cam with a great, winning coach, above average oline, top offensive receiving weapons and healthy cmc, and offensive scheme tailor fit for cam, top 5 ranked defense, and refs who know how to accurately call a game i think he’d do well
  16. who cares, we see his actions, why do we need to hear words?
  17. Intelligence is not an ‘alpha male trait’. Stubbornness and arrogance is. Tepper simply does not know what he is doing and it’s as simple as that. He needs to hire help. But ‘alphas’ don’t need help. It’s a really dumb, debunked term but proposed traits of an alpha are really not desirable in his position…or really any position…outside of being surrounded by gullible, insecure morons.
  18. I don’t know how this will be possible. This isn’t a coach with NFL connections or pedigree. And if you look around that’s what the majority of NFL coaches have and who they bring in. That is a major reason college coaches for the most part don’t work. Knowing that, the best candidates will look at the overall state of the team to choose to come it. It is their choice after all. So no oline, no qb, a solid 2 and whiny 500 years bitch sideshow Bob diva at wr injured hb, lame duck coach with poor ability and draft without sure franchise qbs, with only 1 pick in top 100 no less Tgere is absolutely zero reason one of the best coordinators want to come here. Just like Watson and Stafford and other players we will inevitably hear about this year. The only single reason I can think of is money. But that will still eliminate a lot of candidates that want to win which is a negative.
  19. Yea he said a team is built on the lines and that’s the ‘foundation’. Which is true. But… the resources went to CBs.. and defense… and positions outside the line… one sole ‘top pick’, more like mid pick for BC. that’s it. Trash brought in. said line was priority. But why now? Why not before? It’s the foundation. very confusing
  20. Use cam as a battering ram? But why? You notice his face getting hit this year? Dude was hurting. He can’t do that poo anymore, why would anyone want to send him into a wheelchair. Just let the man retire. Besides any competent team/franchise has a player to get those tough yards.
  21. I was for sure it would be this year…I underestimate the stupidity. So frankly who knows. I’m starting to think he is good friends with Tep and results don’t even matter.
  22. Am I the only one that thinks BC isn’t built for interior? Maybe it’s just me or maybe if he gained weight, I just don’t see it.
  23. Uh yea…the better question is why did we give up draft picks for what we saw on the field this season and what does this mean regarding ‘the process’?
