How dangerous is Willis as a runner? What makes him special?
onmyown replied to micnificent28's topic in Carolina Panthers
I don’t really care about a QBs running ability. Immobility and elusiveness yes, that is a very desired, elite trait. But legitimate running? I’m honesty not sure why that matters. -
Is Robbie gone? (Tweets and profile pic change.)

OR some people just want to know what the hell he is saying and are genuinely curious (myself included) not the edgy narrative i know, but i bet it’s more common than people are told to think -
Actually, if I remember correctly the census around pretty much everyone was either Horn or Fields if Sewell was gone, mainly Horn, with some smaller whispers of Surtain and a random Smiths here and there…and that pretty much happened. Granted that was much closer than draft time than around this time. But seeing as this will be the third year in a row the Panthers have a top 10 pick, that isn’t surprising, most mocks worth their salt, closer to draft time, generally nail the top 5 and often 7/8 of the top 10 picks/moves of the draft. Which makes sense as they’re the easiest.

Hmmm an elite back for 4 games or an above average slot receiver dangerous in space for 17 games? yea what CMC ‘does best’ isn’t 30 carries a game rhule you could get CMC to drop some of that weight too, better long term for him and the panthers

Rhule says giving CMC fewer reps at RB diminishes his value

that is what makes cam special and he did not have a lot of options, their oline was good so why not lastly Cam was a lame duck, everyone and their mom knew it but to be quite honest I’m not sure what this has to do with the topic. Elite coaches know how to utilize elite talent -

Cmc IS a slot receiver Eddleman was a QB btw you truly believe that if belicheck Peyton or mcvay had cmc he’d be getting 30 Carrie’s at RB? Lol it’s just lazy and inept -
Tep needs to hire all kinds of help in a lot of areas and stop with his amateur bullshit treating this like a damn hobby

shows polish imo but not ceiling out of curiosity what was cams?

Matt Rhule dresses like a goddamn slob

when you can wrinkle your pants by sitting down, things need to change -
when you guys comment on Howell can you do us all a favor and specify whether you’re a tar heel fan/alumni/homer beforehand? makes it easier to gloss over the comments thnx

they need experience in confidence which is hard when you have no chance, yes they do need a HC and I’m sure they’re well aware Rhule is on the hot seat i was comparing to Darnold and comparing to cam who also stunk, G would be better than either that’s pretty obvious also comparing to options…I’d rather draft and olineman and pay G nothing to probably not doing anything than draft from this group of turds and go qb next year than do something dumb like take Pickett

if it’s just a year or two and meaningless cap, key word meaningless - like cam got, who cares really yea we could roll it over but it’s not that big of deal, this young team needs experience with at least a mediocre qb that won’t lose the game for them, I think there is a lot of value in that i don’t see Rhule lasting after a 8 win season and if he does better and goes playoffs he deserves to stay imo despite all the pitchforks
-
you can bet your life if cmc went to Belicheck, mcvay, or Peyton etc…he would’ve been working in the slot day 1 and worth every penny the panthers can add him to the waste bucket with Luke and cam…at least that is impressive

Fit said he felt good about the dline (and oline) and the work there was done but honestly, i don’t think it’s going to turn out well don’t get me wrong I like the moves but i feel we still need some playmakers…fat ass bust brown really set it back i expect more gash rushing and stepping up from opposing qbs this year per usual
-
this is the general consensus and also the general consensus as to why… not sure this is really any type of ‘prediction’

I’d say sitting behind and collaborating on the sidelines with one of the best like you said is a form of indirect mentoring and I do believe that probably helps preparation. And again that means the rookie is sitting and he’s only sitting because the vet is still high level. But as you said, it ends at some point (or doesn’t cause the rookie sucks or vet has more in tank ala Love) because it’s cut throat. The way it is. Like you said at some point the younger player needs to be given the reigns and older cast aside to avoid issues. But cam isn’t going to show anything at this point on the field and people seem to confuse cam with a good qb coach and it’s really not the same. In fact I’d argue, ironically, players who played like crap but have the gift to teach work out better. Plenty of examples. It’s two different skills obviously.
-
why are people obsessed with this mentoring idea like that doesn’t happen unless a vet is on the field playing at a high level, and even then it’s rare, otherwise it’s called a qb coach it doesn’t make sense, learn to enjoy the panthers/nfl in general

can’t fix stupid who cares anyways easily replaceable in fact we already a have another rookie/two year WR with bigger upside needing reps
-
can you imagine Brady winning a SB with a third team (ever been done before)? Damn this fool won’t die but he’ll be out of the NFCS so I choose to believe this

Panthers have the Worst odds to make the Playoffs in the NFC

dammit we’ve had a top 10 picks three years in a row…we are building a team via browns method how tf are we worse than Detroit we should at least be ahead of them dark ages ahead -
Just my thoughts; I took a lot from that. Acknowledging the ‘right way’ is to draft a qb, weird hearing that as this franchise has not done that. I would’ve really liked a follow up question here referring to that fact and how they evaluate QBs because they have already passed last years prospects who seem to be better than this year. ‘Rookie QB needs to sit at least for a little.’ I don’t think they’re looking to start a rookie day 1 but maybe 1/4 into the season which I like. If Sam can just win one of those 4, we’re still in it. Rhule’s best bet as well to stay. You don’t draft a QB at 6 ‘just for competition. I’m thinks a raw QB that falls for that. But on that note, lot of tackle vibes, getting an offensive tackle. Rush, QB, and LT is what Fit focuses on. That’s not uncommon but makes me feel a DE or LT is all but certain for the draft and If there is a QB involved, it will be seeing how it plays out and trading up for one, and I get the feeling they will stay at 6 for their LT. He said in the beginning teams have to call them regarding a trade and QB situation. And no one has. This is negotiating 101. Leading to my next thoughts of him saying ‘we aren’t doing anything immediate’. In essence meaning not only does a team need to call but he’s not inpatient and the value needs to drop. So a move won’t be made if it’s costly. Not even too costly. Just costly. Right now it’s just not worth it. In all I feel they’re tightening up on things. Probably because Rhule is on a short leash and because they’ve realized at this point more harm than good has been done. This is a good vibe I get.

here is why I don’t think cam has even gotten a back up offer…officially reported that is his play style is nonconformist, you’d have to have a completely separate playbook/plays for cam than your starter, if you don’t, you’re not using him for what makes him special and it’s pointless ideally you want your backup to at least come in and be able to carry over a lot of what your starter has been doing, asking everyone to switch it up can compromise the season honestly for these reasons i do give credit to the panthers for being able to float with Anderson behind cam, that was impressive but generally that’s a lot of work to put on coaches and players, not impossible, but not ideal GOAT Belicheck tried but I think at the end of the day he realized it would take a lot of personnel changes to get the most from cam, and he went to a rookie qb that plays safe, traditional, and did better, that Patriot already had a defense that was in the top for points allowed, an above average oline, obviously supreme coaching, albeit abysmal weapons …and could not make it work, the only thing that changed in all that was 300 yards from the top two receiving threats and giving the RB those rush yards instead of cam…and a rookie QB who played safe, that’s all it took to get into the playoffs
