Purdy probably would have sucked on the Panthers. Purdy is in a really good situation and in an offense that is filled with playmakers that help his strengths while minimizing his weaknesses. I doubt he would have had that with the Panthers and definitely not with Rhule.

    Yep.

I actually believe Rhule. There are much better lies to tell. But what’s it matter? poo coach and Purdy would’ve failed here anyways.

  2. Tepper has decades of hardheadedneas over York and outside of football has been successful and wealthy. It’s not the same. I have very little faith Tepper will change in his lifetime.

As far as Willks, he’s a good coach but not for HC. But what he’s saying is spot on, and he’s been around enough to be credible in identifying poo ownership.

  3. whenever the huddle offers their takes on HCs I always side with the opposite

remember how excited this board was for Rhule? And (albeit less more so) about Reich?

remember how this board hated the idea of McCarthy (who isn’t great but let’s compare him with what we ended up with)

oh and don’t forget absolutely hating the idea of Reid and his mismanagement of McNabb and how he will fail miserably (I got utterly thrashed here for supporting that idea)

    yea…I remember lol

  4. Hmmm not sure why everyone cares about him bulking up so much. He’s not a cam type QB. He’s just too small. He could put on 20 lbs of muscle and he still wouldn’t be much better getting away from defenders.

I’d like to see him work on quicker decision making first of all and everything that comes with being a cerebral QB. Needs to be played to his strengths. Better speed/navigation but not in a typical sense…more like in a Brees sense and more so due to his stature.

but at the end of the day like someone already said, players around him matter a lot so chemistry with them is important to…whoever that may be, we def need some playmakers in here for any chance despite this point guard crap going around

he has also been on teams who featured Evans/Godwin and Lockett/Metcalf as the starting WRs.   So, his teams have not been short on talent at both starting spots.

he walks into a team that doesn't have an actual 1 or 2.

If people can argue Moore is a true 1, Theilen must be at the very least a 2 if not a close true 1, especially with Young.

But I somewhat agree on your premises because I believe both a 2s. I think Theilen would absolutely thrive with a true 1 here. But he is getting old so that window is closing if not closed after this season.

  6. Absolutely not. No one is giving anything for him to offset the investment the Panthers did. Even if you’re not trying to offset it, it is not worth a 4th rounder at best to not see if he can turn it around, especially on a rookie contract. The Panthers benefit the most to take the risk and keep him than any other team and see if he can stay healthy.

So what your saying is we're going to luck into a pretty decent qb late in the draft this year and trade Bryce for a 4th round pick next year? Only difference is they have a ton of skill players for Purdy to throw to and an all world rb and a great oline and a really good if not great defense.  Maybe tepper will learn like York but San Fran didn't really start trying to address qb until that team was STACKED. we're at least 3 years away from being competitive which sucks because we were also 3 years away in 2020

Well San Fran found their QB during the time the owner went hands off, like literally disappeared from making decisions he wasn’t qualified to make. Tepper needs to stop lobbying for players he has zero clue how to evaluate. That includes not letting his wife have any influence either as she is not qualified in the slightest either.

Young is going to get another year like it or not. But if he likely fails it is important the football people get to go get their guy (and other players) without any interference. A lot of that stacked 49er team also came together when the owner cut the poo.

It’s hard enough to build a team and find a QB…but it’s important you to let the people you hire prevail or fail on their own merits.

Despite the media bullshit, Tepper’s impatience isn’t an issue, it’s his decision making and drastically overestimating his abilities. Much like York’s past.

  8. Been saying this for a while, Tepper is going through almost the same blueprint as the niners. However, two things concern me.

One, the fact he is literally making mistakes almost to a ‘T’ that have already been done and made. Ironically thinking he’s doing something smarter than everyone else.

And two, more importantly, Tepper is going past the time frame of York to learn those lessons that were already taught long ago.

York is one hard headed mofo even after demotions in his past but what we have is a slower, dumber, much older, and even more hard headed version. I foresee it taking Tepper much longer to learn anything.

  9. it’s not CMC or the trade, it’s the bigger picture that’s depressing. CMC would’ve just wasted away here whether traded or not, he’s simply a detail

the bigger picture is this franchise having no clue how to use/capitalize on generational talent from all angles - cant develop them, cant scheme around them, can’t coach them and can’t win with them, cant adapt to the modern day football with them, hell I don’t think we can even train/condition them properly with all his injuries…its fuging pathetic

  10. Who cares about a 6 year deal, what are you guys on about? If he sucks really bad halfway through he will get canned, we all know this.

Also, aside from Tepper’s firing spree, as it stands, no one in their right mind sees this trash team turning around in two years. The Panthers fielded one of the worst teams in NFL history and has an engrained losing culture, and no first round pick.

To top it all off, if Young doesn’t work out, and all signs point to that being true, Canales really won’t even get started until year two maybe three when he has an opportunity to get his guy in place.

This is all part of the domino effect and repercussions of a poo run organization. Tepper made a complete mess of everything and dug a deep hole.

I personally don’t expect anything from this team next year, 5-6 wins will be a huge positive step as sad as that sounds.

Some guys want the challenge of turning a franchise around.

There is no greater glory than being the coach to turn a franchise around. People with confidence pursue challenges against their abilities. Yes, plenty of people would want that opportunity.

You guys are getting confused. The Panthers aren’t a challenge, they’re disfunction. It isn't pressure to turn things around, it’s frustration. Coaches are looking for a challenge but also want to be able to see themselves succeed. The challenges they seek lie in the team, not in battling the owner.

  12. Yea I’ve always said it’s very hard to accept the best candidate was already in house but there is a reason they keep hiring guys with no options. No one wants to play for Tepper, understandably. Or, they’re looking for a payday. Tepper is still meddling. He hires a consulting firm but a big part of me thinks he just has an overbearing attitude that people pick up on right away and realize they won’t be employed if they go against the grain.

Tepper always yaps about needing and loving people who disagree with him to go back and forth and there is a reason for that, it’s not true. The loud person always taking about bullshit because they’re trying to convince themselves and others of something completely false, we all know these kind of people.

As the dysfunction goes on year after year we can only be described as the Browns. Less and less options coach and player wise and money will matter less and less because there simply is no chance of success under Tepper.

  13. Hurney’s bloated contracts paying for the past and his god awful ability to fill holes with vets/FAs made him a terrible GM. Basically the opposite of Gettle who couldn’t draft but had an eye for filling holes with vets.

    Also his hometown hero obsession.

Don’t forget trying to trade into the first for Little lol

    Then you don't know Dan.

I know Dan and he is far from a yes man.

He is also one of the most competitive people that has ever walked in the stadium.

I hope it works out for him

I personally worked with him for over 10 years. Can vouch he is NOT a yes man. Makes me think more of how long he’ll last. I’m also very tempted to ask if he wanted Stroud over Young lol

  15. Oline wasn’t the worst in the league? For context- most metrics have them ranked around 29/30. No it’s not 32 but that’s on par with the worst in franchise history which was 2021 (31). Cam’s own Chandler and Bell lineup came in at 23/24, and Cam’s career average oline rank was 16/17, seems people were pretty upset about that. Franchise sack record. Second record for any first overall rookie QB pick in NFL history. Very, very teams have fielded a bottom 5 oline twice in a three year span. I didn’t go back to a five year span but I’d bet money the Panthers would have or be very close to having the worst average oline during that time in the entire league.

Can't help but think how we traded him and really got little in return the way Fitterer drafted.

Really baffling. All we had to do was suck like we deserved and get a top pick. Gell could’ve redeemed ourselves and trade burns. Could have kept cmc and Moore and lure a coach to use them but not with dumbass Tepper’s would  ‘I am smarter then everyone’ qb cheat codes and become the bottom the barrel nfl team for 5 years. And for what? Fit was now fired and any dumbass fan knew he was awful to begin with.

I really hate Tepper for what he’s done here, it’s really just unbelievable.

  17. I mean y’all are too damn extreme. Two things can be true. Young can be a back up and that number can still be atrocious.

That sack number is now the most in franchise history and also the most any number one overall QB in history has had besides Carr.

Regardless of Young not working out that is some really shitty numbers for whoever the QB is and doesn’t exactly attract talent. No wonder Stafford said fug that poo.
