KK’s extension and contract in general was worse than TBs. Paradis wasn’t great depending on this year it could be just ok. Shaq over BB was dum and just asinine in general. Soon as all these clear we should be good.

where did he not line up?

As some who has experienced a share of stadiums, I’d say this is about right. There are only a few that are worse than BOA. Definitely needs an upgrade. We don’t have a rich history like the Packers so no need to pretend we do like JR did and keep things in the dinosaur age. And I think every gets the hint after 20 years of disturbed. And these rankings also take into account the fans…which will never change unless the Panthers have some sort of sustained success. The environment in BOA when we do make it in playoffs is actually pretty decent…but just as bipolar is the Panthers success, the fans are as well. Just no momentum.

I think this is a sign of cap strapped teams. You sign talent and what could be vs. production. Injury prone or bad teams. You take the risk vs. sign a below average but consistent player. If it works out, one less hole next year, where as you’ll still have a whole with a JAG. I’m fine with that but once we have a healthy cap I really want to see some magic in FA. The only time I have ever seen that since inception was with Gettle in 2015 (in a different way).

Isn’t obvious? I didn’t watch the video but just from common sense, let’s compare then to now: Will go from arguably the worst oline in the NFL (for several years) to, as of now, the 18th ranked. I always poo on our oline because it’s garbage but the Jets are otherworldly godawful. Go watch some Jets games from last year. His RBs avg yards: 2020 (37 year old HB) 3.5, 2019 (played 3/4 of season) 4.0, 2018 4.3-4.8. I’m sure I don’t have to explain why McCaffrey is better than 4 rotating washed up HBs. His #1 receivers: 2020/2019 Crowder a decent #2 but has never cracked 900 yards in 6 years, 2018 Anderson, never cracked 800 yards. Anderson couldn’t crack 1k until he came here. And aside from 2017, looked to be regressing with the Jets. Essentially, given Anderson is a wash, I’m sure I don’t have to explain why DJ Moore is better than Crowder. Gase as OC/QB coach/HC: Made the playoffs one time and lost. Overall HC record? 32-48 (.400). Brady/Rhule unknown but that bar is on the ground. But I’d put money Sean Ryan is better than Gase. There is a reason why basically any analysis out there on Darnold predicts improvement. Pretty much a duh. Question isn’t improvement, it’s will it be enough? He’ll look better but will he be a winner. But the reasons for improvement are painfully obvious even to the most casual fan (as indicated by literally everyone who talks about the subject). I’ll root for him but improvement and good enough are completely separate topics.

Winning seasons since 1995: Jets: 11 Panthers: 7 Jaguars: 8 Panthers are actually just a few (horrific) teams away from being dead last in this category.

Rappaport critical on Sam Darnold during McAfee Show
onmyown replied to TheCasillas's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think that unless Darnold is absolutely garbage, he will be here next year as well. 8-9, 9-8 I think is that area, with a couple game winning drives, in which case I would be satisfied. Then next year it’s playoffs or move on IMO. And if no playoffs, probably only give Rhule one more year as well, 3 years is plenty to see if he’s capable. Kelly and Harbaugh both almost went all the way with shitty teams who needed serious rebuilding in only 1 season. Granted their stints did not last long at all. I think at that point a big move will be made for a QB be it draft or trade. While the Panthers didn’t give up too much to Sam what they are giving him is their time, and that’s worth a lot. At some point Rhule is basically betting his future and success outside of drafting and developing a future franchise QB which is why I think a big move will be made is Sam busts. It’ll be time to get serious.- 22 replies

Panthers interested in bringing back Tre Boston?
onmyown replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Uh yea that make a lot of sense since every other year he’s decent and then the next he’s complete trash. Why the confusion? -
Since 1995: Jets (vs. the GOAT QB in his prime) Season Record: 183-233 (mid bottom tier) Post Season Appearances: 7 Championship Appearances: 2 Super Bowl Appearances: 0 Panthers: Season Record: 200-215-1 (top bottom tier) Post Season Appearances: 8 Championship Appearances: 4 Super Bowl Appearances: 2 Jaguars: Season Record: 177-239 (mid bottom tier) Post Season Appearances: 7 Championship Appearances: 3 Super Bowl Appearances: 0 Seems we really hold those SB loses in high regard compared to a conference loss. There are only 2 maybe 3 more teams more similar in these records, to the Panthers, than the Jets. And 3 maybe 4 more than the Jags.

you’re wrong we are in the house with the Jets. sorry

I’m always leery of guys who ‘all of a sudden get it!’ their contract year. They fooled Hurney like no ones business. He has shown some flashes though but he’s also made some really dumb mistakes. He has been improving but I would never want him on a #1 alone. Which matters because if he wants that kind of money even after a solid year (likely), not sure I’d want to resign him.

Erving already injured. I’m shocked. Who could have seen this coming?
-
I mean…there’s no other long term money going to the oline, specially when Paradis is goneLol might as well its sad zero (successful) investment means zero options means paying a shot ton…It’s the Hurney motto thats said if he preforms top tier yet another year in 2021, I won’t be mad about it

4 Questions for the Defense Going into 2021
onmyown replied to CarolinaLivin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Pressure needs to turn to sacks or a broken play. All too often those pressures ended up being a positive play for the opposing offense. That is not ‘misleading’ to me (?). Add that to the horrible run defense. Panther allowed more average rushing yards than 28 other teams. Aside form pressure, Panthers were in the bottom 4 for INTs. That’s really bad. The backfield is certainly lacking but it won’t really matter if teams continue to run right through the Dline. -
70/1 Give me a scenario where.........
onmyown replied to mrcompletely11's topic in Carolina Panthers
Jake also had a top oline full of steroids. Cam had a top oline in 2015 and nothing else. Oline will matter more than superior play from Darnold. History reflects that. -

onmyown replied to mrcompletely11's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we got back to all super bowl winners (or even deep playoff contenders) since inception, our oline is going to have to miraculously go from 18th to at least top 10 but more preferably top 7. The defense will also have to go up to top 5. Namely the run defense will have to rise about 20 spots or so, the pass defense 10 spots or so. Thats a pretty tall order considering the the oline, on paper, is still trash. The defense may come close. I’m more confident in that. After that believe it or not nothing really matter post season, even QB play. Because at that point all teams are doing well. At that point it’s about not making mistakes and being able to close out close out close games not so much a QB dominating like regular season. Generally speaking of course. The defense and oline preforming top tier, are the top two biggest commonalities in the past decades regarding Super Bowls. Makes you wonder why the oline is always ignored. However having said that, the season leading up to the post season will have to include top QB play, often times more than just being a game manager, though it can be done. That’s really it. A solid oline allows everyone on offense to flourish, and allows for superior execution regardless of weapons or QB. But the offense is unlike the defense where you really do need a well rounded team. Defense wins championships is very true. And an offense gets you there. But for the Panthers specifically, all those pressures from last year need to turn to sacks and the run defense has to be addressed significantly. I wouldn’t hold my breathe this year. I mean it’s very rarely done in that amount of time. Taking a 5-11 team to a super bowl victory the next year not to mention ridiculous ranking jumps. I suspect and expect a playoff run in 2022. -
Well the pass defense was ranked average last year. Considering we have a blitz specialist in Reddick added as well as horn and Chinn back there, plus Burns was always better vs. the pas….I just can’t see any way we don’t pull out above average. Not much changed to address the run game however which was bad. Maybe some better LB play, but Chinn is maybe no longer there so that’s a wash. Brown and the whole dline will have to step up big time in the run game from last year to keep the backfield fresh.
-
Yea better than last year, but that’s not saying much. I think the biggest question on defense is the dline’s run stopping ability which was atrocious last year. And it in turn wears out everyone behind them. With the addition of Reddick and Horn and Chinn at safety, I’m honestly not that concerned about the passing defense. Lat thing they need is zero run defense like last year. I’d like to see Chinn shut down pass routes and cause havoc in the backfield rather than constantly being the cleanup guy like last year, 8+ yards down the field.

PC should probably stick to your one liner posts, no one can prove shaq is average without stats which you seem to hate yet offer no alternative and in the same breath think your emotions prove he’s great while referencing a contract from Hurney as proof the team feels he’s great too lol homer and a fan are different fans can be critical and homer’s cant youre the same guy who loved the KK extensions and signing despite other ‘idiots’ not agreeing with you while his contract crippled the team same person who thought Fox and Rivera were the greatest coaches of all time and did no wrong and JR was an excellent person/owner because enter justification here this is a homer in every sense of the word, with zero self awareness or critical thinking as a fan defensive with insults, quick to point out inadequacies yet no solutions
