No up and coming GM with options would come play for a Baylor car salesman who has control. And certainly wouldn’t sign off on all these dumb moves. He either did that or made these moves himself, why does it matter how inept you are if you’re inept? Fitt wasn’t miraculously the best candidate and isn’t miraculously the only thing Tepper has done that was a home run. Give me a break. Carrying over staff is a huge red flag, Tepper isn’t learning. He did the same with Hurney. Coaches don’t even hire GMs in the first place unless they’re all Star coaches lol. That alone should tell you everything’s but y’all are some weird ass fans. Panther fans are the most forgiving, unaware, mediocre driven fanbase in the NFL, it is dumbfounding. Players can be garbage for years and Panther fans be like ‘giVE hIm a ChAnCe1!!’ like that did WR we have for three years I don’t even remember his name. Combined with Teps dumbassery and this fanbase sometimes I feel like I could sneak onto the staff somehow and fleece the team out of several millions for a few years.

New PFT article on what the Saints want for Payton
onmyown replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
You all are just butthurt. Payton can scheme. He can adapt. He can build a team and a legit/elite staff. Tepper needs a HC like Payton. He will build the roster and culture. He’ll tell Tepper to fug off with dumbassery as well. Until now, all Tepper is known is kiss ass Hurney, salesman Rhule, and yes man Fit. None of them were at the top of their positions or knew what the fug they were doing. Think about that for a second. You wonder why Tepper is so such an inept owner? He learns nothing and surrounds himself with the wrong people. Payton is the only coach guaranteed to have the balls and more importantly, the resume to put Tepper in his place. That includes getting rid of Fit and finding a real GM. Or at least have him just be there to fill out paperwork. I don’t think some of y’all really comprehend what’s happening here. Tep is creating the modern Browns and another tenure (3-4 years) of five wins and it’s going to be near impossible to dig this franchise out. He already is seeking help from his wife instead of legitimate counsel. Fit is still here. These are HUGE red flags. If you look at the 49ers and theor past years’ records, it’s almost exactly what is happening here. Until their owner got the fug out of the way and started hiring people that knew what they were doing. Who knows where they’d be if they kept doing Tepper-esque bullshit. For the love of god someone needs to teach Tepper. He’s probably not willing though, but especially won’t be without having a Payton or Harbaugh type coach calling out his idiocy. Like or hate Payton, this franchise needs him on more ways than the others. -
Y’all know we had an amazing cap outlook two-three years ago too right? Like the best we’ve seen since the looming lockout in 2010? Do you see how quickly that was destroyed AND for perennial 5 wins? Do you know how many teams spend that much and also have that low of wins? There’s only a few, and they’re trash. This is what happens when your franchise is run by an idiot owner. Tepper hasn’t made like 95% awful moves except all of a sudden Fit was right. He is part of the bad decisions and needs to go. The best GM wasn’t miraculously already here lol. It’s not some weird miracle you all think happened.

Yea I’d hate for there to be a shitshow in Charlotte. -
Trading for Sean Payton vs Settling for Steve Wilks
onmyown replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
soon as we can figure out how to beat all the other offers Wilks is getting we will have an answer oh wait that is our answer -
as much as I’d love Payton and give a first for him two firsts is just too much. but I would trade Burns and 20 mil in cap space for Payton

Go on record now before the hire is made Re: Sean Payton
onmyown replied to GOAT's topic in Carolina Panthers
We know Tepper is inept (Rhule). We know he is a bad owner (worst stretch in 30 years of history). We know he will make idiotic decisions or try (Watson). We know he refuses any help that will not coddle his ego (including his wife in decisions). We know he has absolutely no clue how this works (trying to interview GMs and then denied and laughed at because he already had one). We know wants money over player safety or respect (turf). We know he is a slimy snake (obvious hedge fund, but rock hill). You’d have to be extremely naive to learn literally anything about this move. -

some people think they’re taking some moral high ground due to bounty gate yet watch/support the NFL in general which is irony’s definition according to Webster -
David Tepper.... Year 5 ownership, + and - of Tepper
onmyown replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
These are just sneak peaks. The episode are the wonderful 5 win seasons he graces us with. And yea it’s getting old. -
y’all kill me. Why is this even relevant to a bottom dwelling team? We are just tying to have a winning season and god forbid back to back winning season. Payton could come here and rebuild the roster, culture, go to the playoffs a few times in a five year contract and I’d consider it a success. Some of you still think we are the verge team despite have the worst record in the entire nfl over the last half decade lol obviously a Super Bowl is the ultimate goal but there just because a coach is promoted doesn’t mean they’ll make it either
-
But Rhule, no problem. -Tepper It’s PR talk, only idiots believe.
-
It would cost less to trade with the bears and draft a QB. And it wouldn’t kill a team’s cap, already in cap hell. I’d rather take that shot. Trading for and then signing away the future to Lamar and not being able to build around him would be incredibly stupid.
-
for the same exact reason this would be so fuging awful on our roads/highways today
-
I mean I kind of get why you’re saying but Panthers of the AFC? Sometimes I don’t think fans understand just how delusional they can be and god awful this franchise is under Tepper, like over the past five years, we are top 3 worst NFL records. The Chargers have 43 wins in that period, three winning seasons and two playoff appearances while the Panthers have 29 wins and zero winning seasons and zero appearances lol. Teams comparable to the Panthers are literally the Jets and the Jaguars, as much as people like to make fun of them. There is only a few teams below this franchise.

Wills will do anything Tepper tells him to, to become the HC. And Tepper loves that fact. Wilks has no other options, no one else is interviewing him - which should be an obvious red flag for anyone supporting him staying as the HC btw.
-
Meh hard to say. People need to realize, if they haven’t already, Tepper is a god damn idiot. He has tried to interview for a GM when Hurney was already the GM. That’s against the rules and he got denied (and laughed at). He also let Hurney help him hire the future. He also had a small time college coach have input on hiring the GM (lmao). He could very well be hiring the entire staff himself and be neutering the new HC. And common sense says only poor options would allow that. So maybe Wilks. Also makes sense why Harbaugh was a quick no. Tepper strikes me as the type to go 180 to the other extreme after being swindled (by Rhule) like an idiot, Watson after Cam has this feel. And this would too after giving Rhule full control, and now no one gets it. Hell this could have been his wife’s idea. Or maybe his new ‘smarter than the rest of the NFL’ revelation. Yes this is all just thoughts a speculation. But you have to bring your theories to insanely stupid levels to understand Tepper. You don’t just stumble into being the founder of the worst season stretch in a 30 year history of a franchise, while actually trying, in your first shot, without having some really bad ideas. His learning curve is a big one, and will take quite a while before he gets it right. Buckle up. He’s already shown to completely ignore how things are done and NFL history, but ironically, will end up there anyways when he finally figures out what everyone else already knows.
-
We don’t even have a GM yet. Or really even an owner. Despite the positions not being vacant.
-
Meh. He’s alright. It’s not a priority to replace or anything. The clutch kicks are most important though. Couple more of those misses and need to start looking again.
-
That’s because he’s doing it all ass backwards yet again for some reason. Consultants find a GM and that GM finds the coach. That’s how it’s done and most NFL teams are built. Fitt has zero experience and is not qualified nor should he be a GM. I said we will know if Tep still hasn’t learned if Fitt is still here seasons end and what do you know. You literally have a room full of people who have zero relevant football decision making experience calling the shots. It’s comical. It’s like when he tried to interview GMs but couldn’t because he already had one, Tepper is a fuging idiot. He doesn’t know how this works or the rules, anymore than posters here. It’s sad. For those paying close attention, this is a toy to Tepper. He wants to leisurely figure it out himself and wants the credit for doing so. How long that takes or whether he actually can do it or not is completely irrelevant. fug him.

Would much rather give draft capital and a QB for five years on the cheap than pay a big contract for a QB. That’s the ideal blue print. Generally, that big contract/vet QB blueprint option #2 isn’t going to work on an already cap crippled, perennial 5-win team.
-
Eh. I see it another way. In reality this magnifies this franchise’s biggest issues for years, awful cap management/contracts and poorly utilizing a modern player causing him to be more injury prone, which both are loosely related to cringe dinosaur coaching hires and losing seasons with a crippled cap (obviously). But I get it, we need to self preserve so yea, this was a win for us I guess. For the record, I would’ve taken this trade too. But I’m not going to ignore the bigger picture/issue of what is going on.

No. No bonus and it means nothing. Hurney…that u?
