anyone who thinks this won’t cost three firsts is delusional however, throwing burns would cut that down significantly three firsts and a second or two firsts and three seconds or burns and two firsts are way more realistic scenarios imo

A Statistical Analysis of Signing Carr vs. Trading for L. Jackson
onmyown replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
Carr and build the team instead with picks would be the second best option. What it’d take to get Jackson I’d rather risk on an elite talent. In fact I’d consider it pretty stupid to not do this. So drafting a QB is the best option. That’s the most logical take imo and should be plan A and B. Plan C is keep building the team and sign whoever at QB. It sucks but this would come into play depending on Carr’s contract etc. and not being able to draft the guy due to whatever reason, because I wouldn’t want to be stuck long term with Carr, especially overpaid and also don’t really want the 4th qb in the draft at 9. I don’t see a scenario or even a Plan D where trading the farm for Jackson and then paying him a massive contract makes any sense whatsoever. But then again Tepper did go after Watson so I don’t put it past him at all. Obviously Rhule’s yes man, ‘GM’ Fit isn’t going to stop him so I sure as hell hope Reich puts an end to that thought. -
wish we would’ve traded more for Herbert its worth it and it’s true fit has no clue what he’s doing. neither does tepper. But it is what it is. only a franchise qb will save us at this point. No knowledgeable head coach (Harbaugh, Payton) is going to play nice with Tepper who thinks he knows it all but is a clown. And FA worth a poo won’t come here go figure. this is the only way. make burns part of the package to help the costs 100%.

I am not talking about the search committee, I am talking about the supposed ‘vote’ they took between Tepper, his wife, Morgan, Fit…and I believe the team president. Even Morgan and Fit do not have any history hiring a HC that I know about but at least they’re football people. I could be mistaken on some of these details but the sentiment is that the lack of experience, qualifications, and extremely poor record of Tepper himself I would think would be slightly concerning to even the most rational/forgiving fan. If it isn’t well, I guess I am just paranoid after a half decade of losing seasons and worst stretch in 30 years.
-
I question why it was a vote with inexperienced people, most of whose (3/5) are not even football people. That’s strange. Think it’s a bad sign Tep is still taking a very hands on approach. I also am skeptical that out of all the blunders that came with Rhule, Fit just went under the radar and somehow Rhule’s backwards GM hire is he’s totally qualified and everyone thinks he’s great/qualified. Also very strange. I also don’t like Reich’s stint with the Colts at all, but plenty of examples of coaches learning. And Reich IS an actual football person. He does know what he was doing so I never doubted his ability to fill out a nice staff. The question remains most important QB, and is Fit competent in filling out a real roster. I have these doubts and these will make or break Reich. I will feel much more on board if they somehow finagle moving up and getting an elite talent. Reichs’ offense will look like trash with retreads and game managers.

bc we need all odds possible the GM Rhule hired is calling the shots. let that sink in.

I wasn't too impressed with Steichen's play calling

Ahhhh I remember when 90% of the huddle shat on me for wanting Reid after leaving Philly because he was the main reason Mcnabb couldn’t get it done. Good times. -
Quarterbacks win championships
onmyown replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol It’s funny you guys think Tepper is that bright. This franchise will continue to go downhill as long as he keeps a hands on approach. Or we get lucky and find the next Burrow/Mahomes that will cover up an inept owner taking votes with his wife and customer service rep for the next HC with Rhule’s GM. It sucks to hear but seriously wake up. -
Maybe he is worth more as a bargaining chip than picks to trade up and get our QB. Which would be a better move. Especially if it allows us to keep some first(s). It would be a bad move if we still give up ours picks in which case we could’ve salvaged some for the offer.

in madden it’s a 2nd and three 4ths

Lot of people in here sound like when Dwayne Jarret was drafted…sometimes you just know. No one using the Rhule excuse for Darnold, whose decision making looked better with Wilks. But we just know. There is a reason he was drafted later on. His ceiling is a back up.

Cam rolled off the toilet after taco Tuesday to throw alley-oops to the opposing team for 10m….don’t see that happening. although that was Tepper

as long as they draft a qb who cares

Indeed, we will see and it will probably take two seasons, but Fitt is and was hired as a yes man. Clearly. A GM worth his salt isn’t going to say yea I’ll come work for a CEO Baylor coach and just do the paperwork. Tepper can bark all day long about how he loves people who argue/disagree with him but he 100% does NOT. That is why Harbaugh and Payton are not his type of coaches. Too vocal. Too knowledgeable. Nevertheless, I digress, getting the axe before Reich just starts the whole cycle over again. And by cycle I mean Tepper’s embarrassing assbackward dynamic of owner/GM/coach. Owners hire GMs with help and insight and the GM hires the HC, HC hires staff. That’s normal. Hurney hires Rhule, Rhule hired Fitt, now we have Fitt hiring Reich (actually I think a bunch of people voted on it really) and if Fit goes what’s next? Lol more shenanigans from path maker Tepper and co.
-
Actually Tepper set this franchise back and not just with Rhule. With Hurney and now with Rhule’s GM. Also with himself. He thinks he can make decisions. He can’t. This is LITERALLY what the 49ers went through until the owner stepped back and hired help, and took hands off approach. I mean Tepper literally just had a vote for his HC…including severely under qualified people when considering qualifications for hiring a HC. And that’s being nice. You would think THIS would be a popular opinion but I’ve learned a majority of this board only watches the Panthers and are in a tunnel, and that change from when they do bad is always a good thing and brings hope. Even when it’s from the same source. Hope isn’t a strategy though and general NFL enthusiasts know until Tep takes his hands off, it’s not good. The fact moves like keeping Rhule’s GM are a good idea and Tepper is going to turn around the ship on his own despite solidifying the worst stretch in 30 years is not even debated but given the benefit of the doubt/accepted as truth absolutely dumbfounds me. And thus, we need a franchise QB so badly to bail us out. This is why my opinion has changed from not wanting to trade assets to trading the future and move up for one.

Going to disagree. At one point, aside from a couple hundred yards Cam had a 1k WR, 1k TE and 1k RB. Also he was at his best spreading the ball (2015). Also, Cam’s oline ranked 17 his entire career (average). While that is not great, it certainly isn’t like Russell Wilson or Luck had. Albeit Luck’s career was ruined by it. What truly did Cam in aside from obvious injuries (which were strong contributing factors no doubt) was two related things that what were already mentioned in this thread - coaching and Cam’s negligence on correcting his issues (footwork, anticipation, throwing motion), and the latter was a result of the former. Not only did dinosaur Ron and Shula not understand the modern greatness Cam possessed (but more importantly were not capable/competent enough anyways to foster it), and thus use him carelessly, they also allowed Cam to be sloppy and rely on his legs and toughness. And Cam never grew as a QB. At the time there were reports Shula wasn’t helping Cam grow and was more like a buddy than a coach. No pointers, no criticism. That cost them, and it cost Cam. There was that season Cam did work on this throwing motion and it was all the off-season rage because even fans could see his style wouldn’t last. And at the beginning of that season (I forget which), even Ron and Shula tried to use Cam like a normal, stereo typical QB and he rarely ran for the first few games. It was awful. All of us on the forums and stands saw it and were like wtf is going on? Unleash Cam! But the damage had been done. Really too late in his career to try and start over and you could tell. Habits were there. It was set how this team would win with Cam. By the fourth game, schemes and game plans did a 180 back to what worked and Ron unleashed Supercam we all know and love and yep, the Panthers started dominating. Now running is what made Cam special, but at some point it just became ridiculous and lazy how Ron and Shula would call plays and coach Cam. In fact the 2015 team were not only fighting opponents, they were fighting inept coaching and play calling. I’ve watched the season several times and it was truly a miracle team with the dumbass poo they had to fight through from their own sidelines. Feel free to go back and see with that in mind. It is really too bad and who is to say if we had or Cam went to a coach like Payton, Reid, or Mcvay and he was coached and utilized properly things would have turned out different since like I said injuries played a big role as well. We will never know.
-
It’s not just Rhule or Ron, it’s this franchise. Tepper is still calling the shots so more embarrassment like this in the future is likely. On a side note that’s why this trade was a good one. The Panthers are years from understanding how to use a player like CMC let alone just win games.
-
Tepper, his wife, the team president, Rhule’s GM, and our customer service rep all voted for Reich. What could go wrong?
-
Highly doubtful. I 100% bet this is twisting words and was something like ‘despite the season he had’. Because he is locked down and a coach with options, who does not think he can win with a QB he is stuck with, probably won’t take the job. Also, I am going against the grain here but I think Payton will find success if his defense is at least average and Wilson will recover. He literally had ONE bad season and people think it’s all over. With proper coaching in place I think he’ll come back.
-
According to some on this board, we are a contending team and outside players and coaches who want a ring are looking our way.
-
This is Tepper’s toy. He’s ‘learning’ what others already know because he surrounds himself with people who have zero experience in hiring a HC except Hurney but he never should kept on. A vote from Fitt, Morgan, his wife, and team president? Eh, they may do well at respective jobs but that’s really strange way to hire a HC. I really wish he’d try and learn from better sources…Rhule, Hurney, Fitt…these bad people to learn from. But it’s pretty obvious Tepper wants so bad to figure this toy out on his own and take credit, just sucks as fans be dragged through it. Even JR had more football sense and he hired help.

Panthers Request Interview w/ Evero for DC
onmyown replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Not really. I didn’t make a prediction. I essentially said coaches aren’t looking at Carolina as a place to get a ring. And there isn’t much…or really anything going for the franchise. Hence he took the bag…he did it for money. Or another reason. Can you logical explain (with examples or even trends and not unknowns) why in the world with a coach with options would say Carolina is close to a ring and that’s what they want to be a part of? You people think this team has something going for it before it actually does. It doesn’t. When it does, we will know. Seriously.
