Lol, and people keep ragging our receiving corps and blaming them for the offensive struggles. I'd take any one of our guys over their best. Tank is a good player, Woods is solid, but they're not busting games open with their jaw-dropping talent. That "receivers suck" argument is convenient bullshit... don't get me wrong, the playcalling has sucked ass and guys are probably being misused, but they can still make plays, catches and have gotten open.

Ron Rivera: "NOW THATS WHAT I CALL PROTECTION, VOL.2!"
-
I hadn't even heard that about Mingo. I did wonder why him? Did they have a precious relationship? I really had hoped we would just trade back up and take Flowers bc I just had a feeling he was going to be a real explosive playmaker.

Yeah, and I can't knock people I respect for who they like, but again, even pros and pro scouts are wrong, A LOT. But I maintain, if the owner is making that pick its not because it's grounded in football knowledge or expertise, and that's my problem. And honestly, to this point, Tepper hasn't made a single, proven good decision yet.
-
I dont know that they publicize a ton about the comings and goings of scouts, but I think I do recall there being a pretty big exodus since Hurney 2.0 through now.
-
I'm still hoping for the best for Bryce, but man, if it's true that we picked him because Tepper wanted him, that fuging pisses me the fug off. It just seems like such a dumbass with money, casual ass pick. "Yeah, let me ignore all the positive qualities of these other guys... draft him because he won a lot at one of the best programs in the country. He's a winner."

But he can't be! He's not a super processor point guard!

Was it at a pizza parlor?

Someone is in their feelings. You're the one who came in busting shots associating people with inflammatory, ignorant poo like QAnon, but the burden is on me to go search your posts for your opinion on everything Panthers? I honestly dont care what you feel or think, at the end of the day. You replied to me with inflammatory poo. So you clearly care about what I think, as you felt compelled to force your opinion on me. Next, you just suggested Tepper step in and make decisions on day-to-day football operations, rather than let football guys make football decisions. But, my theory, which has happened throughout the league numerous times since injury reports became a thing, is a crazy conspiracy. Lol. I appreciate your youtube informed scouting report of our WR corps. I'll be sure to give you mine once someone else tells me what to think of them, too. But just to be clear, no, my issue wasn't with Darnold taking shots that weren't there, it's that Darnold wasn't throwing to anyone when he's 20 yards off target and he fuging sucked. Bryce isnt comfortable throwing anything over 10 fuging yards. And yeah, thats a problem for a franchise QB. But hey, go off, sis. And ok, you got me all figured out, brother! I'm relishing staring down the barrel of another shitty ass losing season all so I can gloat that Bryce wasn't my pick! Yay! Y'all are really something else.

Bro, we've been on the same page with a lot of stuff over the years, so no need for "QAnon" bullshit insults. It's simply my observations and opinions. For the same reasons you think I have to trash Bryce because I didn't want him, I could assume you have the same incentive to defend his honor because you also want to be right that he was a good pick. At the end of the day, we should both be pulling for him bc our team's success depends on it in many ways... And I have maintained since day 1, even if I didn't want a specific player drafted and if I wasn't a fan of that player, I'm still going to pull for their success once they're a Panther until it's clear they're a liability. Bryce has not reached the point of clearly being a proven liability (I usually reserve that designation until they've had at least a full year on the roster where we've seen them play). But, I do believe Bryce has shown enough through two games to show he isn't ready. And again, I don't think it's a conspiracy after watching what has transpired from the preseason and now into two regular season games that Bryce is leaving a lot of big plays on the field. It doesn't matter how many deep shots you take, but it's a fact you have to take some. Bryce will not. And I don't want to hear receivers aren't open. Our recieving corps has talent, and are way better than what the Texans and Colts have, and yet, both of those QBs are putting up far better numbers and taking shots downfield to threaten the defense. Yes, the playcalling has been shitty, but as I've said repeatedly, the #1 pick/franchise QBs should be able to make plays and change games single-handedly with their ability. They might not single-handedly win them, bc occasionally, they need other guys to make plays to help... but Bryce, outside of that long scramble last week has not done that or shown that. He is super dependent on his supporting cast to carry him with their production instead of the inverse, and that was always my issue with him from college til now. He, so far, is who I thought he would be as a pro, and that's not good. Again, that doesn't mean the book has been written on him and is over, but I think the coaches watched the film and saw the opportunities he's leaving out there because he's scared to pull the trigger on smaller windows and deep shots, and they want to see what the offense looks like if Dalton does. I'm still astounded people think this poo is some far-fetched, unrealistic, and asinine conspiracy. poo looks pretty cut and dry to me. Somebody made the call for him to be the #1 pick. They hyped him up all offseason, pushed the hype further in TC that they got the pick right (which is easy to do when the organization controls the media that is put out because they limit access) and then as soon as we hit real, competitive games against other teams, Bryce and the offense came crashing down to Earth and looked nothing like what team-controlled media pushed them as all offseason. The offense didn't just look like the expected struggles of a rookie figuring it out on-the-fly - they looked absolutely horrid and non-functional. And because of that and this new staff all trying to figure out together for the first time, it can't be he was this bad, right? So, seeing the plays Bryce was leaving out there, they now want to see if it was more him or them. And in order to find out, they have to "bench" him, thus the injury. Now, after seeing what the offense looks like with a QB who is familiar with what shots you can and should take in the NFL and will throw deep when it's there, they will reevaluate afterwards and also be able to show Bryce a blueprint of what they expect from proof of concept with Dalton. That isn't some radical "the elite are running giant pizza parlor sex rings and eating babies" conspiracy. It's only offensive if you really thought Bryce was gonna come in and light it up early.

Wow. I'll have to go watch his, bc like I said, I hadn't been keeping up with them aside from the quotables tweeted out and posted. But it was actually pretty jarring seeing that clip of Brown's presser, bc it was clear how pissed he was and he definitely didn't appreciate having to discuss Bryce's toughness or the injury... and it sounded pretty definitive to me that he didnt believe the injury was legit.

Growing up, I always said Usher was my generation's Marvin Gaye, but I don't know if that's accurate either, bc I think it's bigger than that (all respect to Marvin Gaye - one of the greatest, smoothest, coolest vocalists of all-time). Usher is legendary and one of my favorite artists ever, too, and you just can't go wrong with this. He's always a showman, always entertaining and has a ton of hits that transcend across all of society. But I'm also trying to remember who was the headliner at the previous Suoerbowl he performed at? Because I remember he did "Yeah!" And "OMG." Was it The Black Eyed Peas? I think it was in Dallas?

It's definitely a soft benching, for all the reasons you stated, but also, I haven't been watching pressers and all that this year bc I just got burned out on them after the Rhule Era - but, I was watching anlocal news editorial on the situation last night and saw Thomas Brown's clip from his presser when asked about the injury and he seemed super pissed. He seemed irritated and short with the questions, but what caught me was when asked specifically about the injury, he was irritated and dismissive and said, "I don't know. They said it happened some time in the first half. I don't know." I hadn't heard that until last night. He also then added he hadn't seen him limp or anything, then someone asked about his long scramble and if Brown noticed anything off, and he said no. Just from my observations of his responses, he seemed very skeptical of the injury and was pissed off. If i had to guess, my belief is the decision to claim he's injured came from Reich and others with more cachet in the staff/brass, and he was pissed bc a) He doesn't feel Bryce was really injured and b) He feels Bryce's struggles are due more to the shitty offense and playcalling so he's frustrated they are benching Bryce without letting him (Brown) try to see if he can help him with his brand of playcalling. It felt like Brown was frustrated bc he sees what he doesn't like with the current setup but they won't let him try his hand at what he was hired for to see if he can remedy it... and then on top of that, the reporters were questioning Bryce's toughness as a result of this - inferring he is mentally folding because he's having a rough time so the staff benched him to save him from himself.

Is he on the 53 now? Or can't we use him on GameDay without moving him up officially during the week? I forget the new PS rules.
-
Still gross Henderson is playing lol. Also, where has the CB we picked up from San Fran waivers been?
-
That Seahawks injury report is crazy lol. And we probably still lose.

Damn. Welp, Reich sucks. I just remembered Frank holding the playsheet and all of that, so I assumed he did... I completely forgot it was under Pederson.

Well, said... Cam's projected #1 after KB went down in 2015 was fuging Jericho Corchery. Cotchery literally was so slow, he looked like he was running in place most plays. And people still blamed Cam for having to essentially be an entire offense. Thank God for Ted Ginn that year, who statistically ended up being our #1 simply because he could stretch the field. And that was a perfect comparison, because just the threat of Ginn and Cam utilizing him made that offense dangerous bc at any given time, Cam could bomb it to him or if the defense stretched themselves too far, he could just take off and run. We just don't have that threat with Bryce, and it isn't because of the receivers. As I said in the other thread, our guys have beat their man over the top multiple times this year and even when Bryce attempted the pass he was WAY OFF and throws it early before the receiver has finished their move - I suspect because he's not comfortable throwing deeper passes in the first place. And just like Cam's corps, even if you have a bunch of pedestrian WRs, if you have one Ginn, or in this case, Chark, you can threaten the defense with deep accurate passes, but Bryce is too scared and inaccurate to throw it deep. But even that take is kind of coddling him, bc again, I've watched TMJ and Mingo beat their guys over the top and Bryce just missed them, badly. Talent-wise, this WR group blows 2015's out of the water. We had fuging Philly Brown getting major snaps lol. This group is big, physical, and despite what people are saying, has athleticism. It's how they're being utilized and it's having a guy that can't get them the ball in the right spots.

Also, for those that watched the game last night, look at the throws Purdy was making. You want to see a super processor? That's what it looks like. He knows where the hot is, he knows when to give his guy a chance, and he's throwing into tight windows based off what the defense gives him - but it's all completely confident and with conviction. And like Bryce, he's not a big guy and doesn't have a huge arm, but he clearly knows wtf he's doing. Bryce doesn't look like that at all. He's fuging scared. Purdy was throwing into tight coverage most of the night, but he was putting it in good locations and giving his guys a chance. That last deep ball to Deebo was a perfect example and was 30-40 yards in the air, iirc. Coverage was great, but he went back shoulder and gave him a chance to make a play, and he did, for a TD. Bryce is so risk averse and scared of making a mistake, he won't even try that or give our guys a shot, and when he finally gives in and tries he has no touch on anything deep so its so inaccurate they don't even realistically have a chance. Again, there are clearly issues with scheme and playcalling, but we have how many WRs this season at 6'2" plus, and we're not even giving them a chance to use their strengths and body guys. If everyone keeps pounding the table saying they can't get separation, then let them go up and get it, threaten the defense and let them make plays with their size. But again, that separation poo is overblown to coddle Bryce... Chark and Thielen didn't just crawl out the womb yesterday. TMJ and Viska had no issue getting open before this season. Now, all of a sudden we have the slowest worst route-running unit in the league, simply because we have to justify the Bryce pick. It's bullshit. And I know it's been at least 5 passes across two weeks where one of our guys had broke over the top of the defender and clearly had a step on them but Bryce overthrew them by 5-10 yards. So again, I'm tired of hearing the "not getting separation" poo. And also, AGAIN, I acknowledge Reich's system is fuging dinosaur poo at best, but the plays are fuging there.
-
But look at the 40+ yarders sprinkled throughout Rivers and Ryan's passing charts. The threat is there and it matters. And ngl, all those short to intermediate passes are a lot easier to make at 6'3"+.

What record gets Reich fired?
Proudiddy replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tepper's dumbass gave Matt fuging Rhule 2.5 years. Reich probably gets 4. -
Yeah, I remember hearing that, but I liked his playcalling with Philly. Idk wtf is going on now, but it clearly is a problem so far. It boggles my mind that a pro QB is cool calling a game like this is 1940s football... but still, we have enough data showing it shouldn't be this bad based off what he did elsewhere. Which brings it back to Bryce as well... Seeing what Dalton does is going to be interesting.
-
It's why I really think the receivers argument is cookie-cutter-excuse-making bullshit. Have anyone not a Texans fan tell you about their receiving corps. We have better talent and despite early impressions here, Reich didn't have terrible offenses where he was OC and HC, so us having record low stats was not expected, nor acceptable.

TBH, and fair, I think all of it factors in. It's not all on Bryce. I think a lot of the doom and gloom is because many of us felt Bryce wasn't the right pick because he doesn't single-handedly make his team better, which is what I feel is the definition of a franchise QB. He was more of a game manager that compliments the talent around him - a cog in the wheel, so to speak. Whereas if he enhanced the players around him and threatened the defense just with his presence, it automatically makes us better and opens the game up for the offense because of the dynamicism - again, this is what I expect of a franchise QB - then we would be encouraged by the possibilities moving forward. The fact that he is so dependent on everything being perfect around him between players to scheme and playcalling for him to be effective, and we're seeing how ineffective he is when those things aren't optimal, that is very discouraging. Honestly, I expect Dalton to perform better, but not anything Earth-shattering. Mostly because he is experienced and knows what he's looking at and seen it before, but I do think there is going to be further evidence that the playcalling sucks ass. I really don't believe the WRs are as bad as advertised so far... hopefully we see more out of them this week.
