  1. Personally, I would find it awesome if they did; as dysfunctional as it seems, if Watson came in, asked them to can Rhule, and we immediately hire Flores from Pittsburgh. Now logistically, I have no idea how that would work considering all of the new hires in the staff, and I can't imagine a guy coming into that situation, retaining the new hires for a year until he can pick his own staff. But, honestly, at this point, idgaf.
  2. No, you're right... no one knows, but what is known is how fate and the league have royally buttfuged this franchise at every turn, so we know how it usually ends.
  3. I actually read elsewhere something similar, that if we whiff on Watson, a lot of other teams who are QB desperate with better situations and more assets are going to start making moves to shore up their situations. Some trading up, others trading with teams for the current guys still on the block, and when reading it, all I could think was, "we are going to be left out in the cold."
  4. Yup. And while I wasn't 100% comfortable with some of the packages we were hearing, ultimately I still wanted to get it done. The truth is, you can't win without a QB. Another truth is, once you have a QB its much easier to fill in the pieces around them then having to find one in the first place. If we whiff on Watson and New Orleans gets him, we have essentially locked ourselves into the NFCS basement for the next 10 years. And if that happens, I suspect it will mostly be because we kept Rhule in place and Watson chooses them strictly because of that and that alone.
  5. Imagine being so fuging dysfunctional of a franchise where a once in a lifetime deal for a player falls through because you kept a sorry ass head coach so the player you were trading for picks a team with what is essentially a fuging interim over the one you kept employed. I've found myself saying this following statement a lot over the last 27 years or so, but here it goes again: "Only the Carolina Panthers"
  6. Also, Matt Rhule being part of the sales pitch until the part where Tepper adds the "and you can pick the next HC":
  7. fuging New Orleans man... we just can't ever get ahead in this division.
  8. I was just thinking earlier about the relationship aspect as well and have to think, as well as hope, that that aspect may keep us from getting taken to the cleaners in this deal. Why? I was thinking back to Fitt's presser last season after we traded for Gilmore. He mentioned how it came about was that they expressed interest and happened to have a FO guy here who had worked for years with NE. I believe it was Pat Stewart. Well, Caserio (sp?), now the GM in Houston, would've also worked with Stewart. So, I have to think we have a better "in" there than other teams do. I hope that works in our favor as it did in the deal for Gilmore... and our FO seems to rely on relationships quite a bit.
  9. Now that tweet i call BS on. I still think NO is the better run franchise so I don't have much hope for us... but, Michael Thomas factoring into this? LMFAO. The Michael Thomas that they've had a tenuous relationship with for the last 3 years or so? The Michael Thomas who has barely played for the last two years? GTFOH. And pair that garbage with the fact that the only thing keeping them afloat the last 10+ years in Sean Payton, just stepped away from the franchise. Why tf would anyone want to go there? That reeks of desperation fluff purposely leaked by NO to try to ramp up our offer because they feel inadequate.
  10. Welp, it was fun while it lasted. Bring your blankets, because the NFCS basement is a bit drafty and we'll be here awhile.
  11. I just saw the tweet and thought it was fake. I further Googled it for confirmation, figuring reporters were all over it, but no one had wrote about it yet. Still hoping its a joke.
  12. Espn reporting that we're leaning towards wanting to keep CMC if we're able to get the deal done for Watson. I dont like that at all.
  13. Yeah, I agree with you. Ideally I hope we can find a way to keep both of them. Hell, I'd rather throw in another 2nd rounder if it means we could. And I'd almost feel insulted that they are even pushing for both... I really, really hope we hold onto proven assets like Burns and Chinn in this. Brown, I couldn't give a fug less. Horn, I like him but the injury scares me a bit and we're deep at corner with a GM that comes from a background that was able to find them no matter where they're projected, so losing him wouldn't bother me much. If we could somehow convince them to take the chance on McCaffrey in place of one of Burns or Chinn and then send another draft pick in the place of the other, I would be ecstatic, but I agree with you about Tepper... his desperation scares me, and I think as evident with the Darnold trade last year, other teams smell it on him.
  14. I just want it to be over either way. Can we please make the fuging deal or not and move the fug on? Again, i hope we can make it while holding onto Burns and Chinn, but I just want it made so we can figure out what tf is next.
  15. I was starting to get cold feet a couple of days ago, but my how things have changed. I was in, then out, now in again... but regardless, my stance has always been that he would rejuvenate our franchise. I still don't believe in Rhule, but we would at least have a centerpiece again. That being said, I really hope we can make it out of the trade with Chinn and Burns still.
  16. Considering the fact that we gave the Jets more value for already established bust Sam Darnold, than what multi-time all-pro Khalil Mack just commanded when no other team was trying to get Darnold, I'd say that is a safe bet.
  17. Yup, and loyalty doesn't mean much nowadays at all.
  18. For those complaining about our interest. Imagine us not getting him but Tampa does and we have to play him twice a year.
