  1. Unimpressed. I'm aware of Anderson and who he is, but I just don't like cutting Nixon. If he is fully recovered from his injury, I wxpect him to get quickly signed by another team and eventually become a really solid contributor. In his limited action last season in real games, he was very impressive. I definitely thought he was better than Hoskins... but, I don't think we really have heard much from Nixon since coming back, so I guess it's possible he isn't the same after his injury?
  2. This. Dude basically threw Thompson a football lifeline TWICE, in college and then as a pro. I'm not saying what he's saying isn't true, but do you think you're going to get a super objective and fair assessment of Rhule from Thompson considering their history together? Sure, there is some truth to what he's saying, and I'm absolutely sure Rhule had positive qualities that the players believe in and like about him. But, it's the results on the field that matters. If he can coach every position, he might want to get to it then, because they have underperformed every year with him as the HC. And honestly, everything we've heard from the outside has indicated he is more of a gameday manager than a hands-on "coach 'em up" at practice kind of coach. And just to contrast, I'm pretty sure if you ask someone like Kenny Robinson about his experience with Rhule, the answer would be a lot different. I think there are guys that like him, even ones that didn't play for him in college, but there also guys that are just cool with playing a game for a living regardless the outcomes or the staff around them... and those guys are the reason we have never had back to back winning seasons, because it's a culture that isn't based on winning but rather image. And to me, things haven't been any different with Rhule in that sense. Who would you like working for more? Someone who is nice and mostly loyal that you can get over on, or someone that is going to push you and take no nonsense where your job security may be threatened if you don't meet their expectations? Most would want to work for the former. The issue is, Rhule and every coach that preceded him became the former, and he appears to be that guy as well, which is why we are still mediocre... So ultimately, I don't want to hear "he cares about his players" and all that BS. I want that to be a given. I want our coach to care about winning and be good at it, and good at finding the people to help him do it - not putting friends and followers in his backpack to take them along for a ride they don't deserve.
  3. Agreed 100%. It sucks, because KRob was, imo, from out of the 4 guys we're discussing here, thr best pure playmaker out of all them. Naturally. And as you said, Jaycee even said he was thr hardest hitting DB we had. I just don't understand why you wouldn't want that guy and find a spot for him on your team. I had been watching him since the XFL and wanted us to draft him, so when we did, I was ecstatic... but, man, it is clear, Rhule never liked him... can't wait to see more of Chandler getting abused. And again, how telling is it that they forced Burris into being a starter since we signed him and kept trying to sell us on his versatility and such, and he ends up getting cut and then signed back on the PS, at his age and experience level. That tells us all we need to know about what the rest of the NFL thinks of him.
  4. It still is very telling that Rhule went from saying KRob should've gotten a look much sooner in the season as a starter last year once things had got out of hand and he played him, to him barely getting burn with 3s in the preseason, then getting cut, signed to PS, and cut again. I said it during the Pats practices, but he clearly just did not like him and didn't want to play him over his guys. Look, I liked what we saw early from Sam Franklin, but outside of ST, the more he played, the more he got exposed. And I don't think Chandler should even be on an active 53. He just isn't very good. But they're Rhule's guys. And when healthy, Burris started the last two years, and now he's cut. It makes very little sense... I didn't really care for Burris, but my point is, they supposedly thought he was better than Franklin, Chandler, and KRob the last two years, and now he's suddenly not. And they think Franklin and Chandler are better than KRob, even though Rhule admitted he had a bright future and should've gotten more PT before he finally gave it to him at the end of last season... and now he's gone. And as I've said before, it's crazy, because he has always produced snd Mads big plays when he was given the opportunities. So either it's Rhule's extreme loyalty to his guys, or KRob has an off-field issue like attitude or something, but I never got that vibe off of him from all that we know. I just think they kept him around because of familiarity.
  5. I'm not gonna lie, BP, I didn't read all the way through because as soon as I saw the title, my frustration from this summer bubbled up and I had to use the thread to get it off my chest... My apologies. So, I went back and looked and I agree with your premise and proposal. Hayward will never be healthy a full season, and even if he is, he is now entering the later half of his career, so his production, alrhough still good to very good, will likely never be what it was before. And Plumlee to me never made sense. He is a dinosaur in the modern NBA, and his contributions at best, are extremely limited. Dump them for Russ, then have the cap room moving forward to keep adding around Melo and the emerging young guys. I would be a lot more excited about that for 2023-24 than I am for what we're walking into 2022-23 with.
  6. Cool story, but I'm still over here like...
  7. I hate to be that guy, but unless someone takes a monumental leap in development, our season is shot. I don't think Westbrook changes that one way or another... Only thing I'm really looking forward to is watching the young guys get burn. I'm interested to see McDaniels in an expanded role now as well, because of Miles' absence... but, Thor, Kai, Bouknight, and Williams getting a ton of burn with Melo is really all I feel excited about. Between us giving away lottery picks and the Miles situation and then sitting on our hands all summer, we pretty much shat the bed this offseason about as bad as we possibly could have, all while teams we were vying to move up in the East with upgraded and got better. Sadly, for the first time in a few years, all my hopes are riding on the Panthers season (as long as Rhule stays out of the way), because our offseason really couldn't have went much worse.
  8. It sounds to me like Baker is telling the truth. I think she was looking to break something big and blew up a benign co-sign that she created to try to do it. Also, if I'm not mistaken she is fairly new to beat reporting and/or reporting in general... as long as I've been aware of her, she was a analytics/betting specialist on ESPN and then NFLN. When I saw the report and it cited her as the Browns best reporter I was like, "WTF? When did that happen?" As long as I've been seeing her on TV, she has NEVER broken stories, she strictly covered the analytics and betting stuff. So it seems to me like she was trying to get a story off... I dont think it was malicious or anything. I do believe she wanted to attention of breaking it, but I genuinely believe her that it stemmed from her excitement for Baker getting the opportunity to reestablish himself as a top QB in the league and they were likely just having off-the-record small talk and she wanted to get a great one-liner out there. And iirc, Baker said earlier that he's known her a long time, so it sounded like they had a friendly relationship prior... but, after this? She might've ruined that.
  9. Would like some updates on how Piniero looks. Curious why they haven't mentioned anything...
  10. Honestly, probably the best we can do. I hope he comes in confident and maintains that 86% career fg percentage.
  11. The man. The myth. The legend. He is back. I think the other thread served as an impromptu seance. Welcome back, SCP. YOU HAVE BEEN MISSED! And kicked the door right back in with 10/10 quality poo references... never missed a beat. Very few posts make me laugh out loud nowadays, but SCP always delivers.
  12. NGL, I feel like that was the least suspenseful final cuts ever (after the trades). Pretty much exactly what most of us suspected would happen across the board.
  13. Really wondering why we haven't heard anything about kicker since the workouts yesterday?
  14. Maybe they think if they keep all 6 that when need be, they can all morph into a TE Megazord, Power Rangers-style. Thus making one uber-talented TE instead of 6 mediocre ones, and it would save 5 roster spots.
  15. That's it? Wow. I thought his value was higher.
  16. And honestly, I feel like KRob got a bad rap from the beginning with Rhule. Rhule constantly talked sout both sides of his mouth with him, and he just never got a real chance, imo. And he damn sure should be on the roster before Chandler.
  17. Welp. That's probably the end of that.
  18. Wow. Was never sold on him from college but knew he had potential. Surprised they moved in that quickly from a 3rd round investment though.
  19. We need to get him, but I don't think we will show any interest.
  20. Didn't we bring him in for a tryout last year?
