  1. I know there's a lot of smoke and mirrors going on this time of year, so, despite Fitt being one of the most straightforward GMs I have ever seen or heard, we can't take everything at face value. That being said, I am disappointed to hear that there's no immediate trades on the horizon. If we were trying to deal Darnold, we clearly had a much bigger plan in mind.
  2. I'm thinking restructuring CMC plus the urgency to dump off Darnold this offseason means we're going after an established star, MVP-potential QB... I could only think of Carr off the top of my head, but this would be on par, of not better than that. I'm certain it's gonna be Murray or Carr. We're not moving that money for other positions bc we could fill those holes with the money we already had... it's gotta be a big name QB we're still going after.
  3. Ehh, Alexander seems to be pretty knowledgeable and I believe has a good "in" to Cam's camp. If anything last week taught me, there's a whole lotta garbage on Twitter, and I lost a lot of confidence in what the blue checks are supposed to signify, but Alexander is a legit, very good reporter.
  4. Well, I agree. I speculated in my other reply to snake, that I can't fathom what we would need the cap space for unless they are working on a trade for another established QB before the draft... I also mentioned how Fitt said our plan last year was to always fill our needs in FA so when the draft comes around we can just draft BPA. And then, even with the current cap space we have, we could still sign a guy like Clowney, re-sign Gilly, etc., so the only reason it makes sense to get Darnold off the books immediately is if we are trying absorb a bigger contract... the only guy I can think of that would be worth that, IMO, who was rumored to be available at various times the last two seasons is Derek Carr. If we trade for him, I will cream my effing pants.
  5. I asked him on Twitter yesterday, and I was a bit surprised by his response in contrast to the rumors we were hearing that he already had an offer from us and was just waiting to let everything else play out... the whispers in the other thread sounded like it was likely. Can't say I blame Cam considering who we have as coach, but I would've loved to see what he could do behind a legit OL with a legit OC calling plays.
  6. This is what concerns me about the push to get Darnold off the books now... Teddy was a bad investment, but could've been a useful one had they just ate their mistake after the first season, kept him as a mentor and drafted Fields or just waited to draft a guy this year. But nope, they knew they flubbed so they scrambled to get rid of Teddy and in their haste, compounded the original problem by trading for Sam's sorry ass and trying to make a reclamation project out of him when everyone with two eyes and a brain knew he sucked. And now, here we are again... instead of just eating that salary for one more year, we're talking about trading assets to get rid of him now. As I said in another post, if they have another move for an established, proven QB (requiring that cap space immediately) that I'm not seeing, I don't understand the point. Send him away from the team, release him, idgaf... his NFL career is probably over, he won't be playing here anymore, and he's in his last contract year, so why trade something to get rid of him unless you have a greater plan? I mean who realistically is out there they would need that space for now to upgrade the position? All the other spots of question, I think they could fill with the current cap space with Darnold on the roster. So what am I missing? Daniel Jones? Jalen Hurts? Maybe Derek Carr? That would be dope. I will say, I think it was Fitt last season that said the goal is to fill all your needs before the draft so when the draft comes around, you can draft the BPA. If they find a way to magically fill QB before that and we get a LT, that would be amazing, but I'm not seeing it...
  7. I'm just saying, at this point in FA, I'm not sure where that extra 18M would go wisely with what's left out there? We already have the most cap space in the NFL after the CMC restructure, and haven't spent much of it. With all of that space, there's been no movement at LT, in bringing Gilmore back, adding another (new) safety, or adding edge rush help to help with Reddick's departure. I just don't see the urgency in needing that cap space right now... Not unless there's another big move for a QB we're not seeing?
  8. Just not big on Burris. He's ok. But, he always looked very limited athletically. I really wish they would just hand KRob the keys and quit with the veteran favoritism.
  9. But apparently it doesn't matter... Sheena posed the question on Twitter and when someone said they wouldn't do it, she replied "that ship is already sailed." So apparently its done. Where is the "ink is wet" guy when you need him?
  10. If we're getting a pick back, cool... but I thought this was about getting rid of him, which usually costs the team unloading the bad contract a pick to get the other team to take it. And for us to need that cap space, I can't think of what expensive FA we could be adding at this point besides maybe bringing back Gilmore and getting Clowney? And I also hate to imagine what young player we're giving up to get a team to take him and give us a pick, unless its like YGM, it just seems like cutting your nose off to spite your face.
  11. couldn't think of a more deserving fanbase outside of the Saints, but they already had their stadium fire lol. It's forever fug the Broncos and Clete Blakeman.
  12. I just don't get that logic. He obviously is horrible and won't be playing here again and he's on the last year of his deal. Why not just essentially buy him out because you're paying him for the year anyway, and just pay him to go away... why would I offer assets to another team to do what I can do myself by just buying him out and sending him away? His hit is off the books next season anyway and its not like we're going to use that 18M this season, so whats the point?
  13. I dont buy that about having to trade up to get Willis. He's my pick, but if he's gone at 6, I'm trading back and taking Corral or Howell, picking up a 2nd rounder, and I'd be just fine.
  14. Never heard that before. Ooowee mayne... idk what either FO thought they were seeing in him, but boy, if we give our team a hard time for the 2nd and 3th, Niners fans would be losing their poo.
  15. Wow. Hadn't seen it. It just doesn't seem like a very deep FA class for pass rushers this year either.
  16. Good write-ups, Verge, as always... I really like Corral from what I watched of him in college. His leadership and processing seem like they will translate very easily into the NFL, and his athleticism is impressive as well, but man, I do not buy that listed weight at all, and thats what scares me about him. He looks really small and frail. If not for his build, I think he would be projected much higher, but it makes me worry for his longevity. And as I have repeatedly stated across the forum, Willis is the guy I'm most confident about because of his physical ability, character, and potential.
  17. I know our staff has said they see Luvu as a starter-quality edge guy, and while I appreciate his potential, I also think it is fairly important to bring in a proven guy just to cover all of our bases. I'm thinking Clowney or Zadarius Smith. Both guys can play all 3 downs, will provide pass rush but will also be more stout against the run than what we had last season. I wonder why we haven't heard any whispers about this position of need?
  18. In all seriousness, I have comped him to Russ and Lamar... I see traits of both. Interestingly enough, IIRC, didn't Lamar opt not to run at any point leading up to his draft? I'm hoping we can shore up the left side to complement BC and then can feel good about taking Willis in the Top 10 and bring Cam back to mentor him along until he's ready.
  19. Good counterpoint. I was just thinking about the proximity to Corral's pro day and figured it would be a good gesture to build that relationship with Coach Prime and his program. He is and will be making waves in college football for years to come.
  20. While I understand time and resources allocation, and that no school can stop a team from drafting their players, my opinion is, like in many, if not all avenues in life, relationships matter. And what makes it look worse is that we either already were down there last night or will be there today. I understand if we didn't have a prospect we are strongly interested in currently at JSU, but how do we know? Many times, scouts, despite all of their work, happen upon a prospect they previously overlooked because of pro days, and then they go back and study the tape... it happens every year. Considering that likely all of our brass is in Mississippi today, I think we could've spared a low-level scout. It's just not a good look... and no, they might not be teeming with NFL talent this year, but they have some, and they will definitely become a powerhouse in years to come as long as Deion is there. They are already luring top level, 5 and 4 star recruits. I just think it is just worth it to see what they currently have, as well as establish that relationship for down the road... I also understand that a large part of this is Deion looking out for his players and his program. It's 100% the right play on his part... it's just a bad look for us.
  21. Says when they arrive, they won't forget. Pretty inexcusable that we didn't send any sort of rep or scout at all, considering the full brass will be In Mississippi today for Corral's Pro Day anyway. https://fb.watch/bWPceiDDV8/
  22. I dont necessarily think he is, based off the resume... the QB class is just extremely thin this year, so guys who would've been projected bottom 1st/2nd round are now in consideration for Top 10. Bad year to need a QB, but I still like Willis' potential.
  23. Which is why I think he is gonna be Blaine Gabbert.
