Because he doesn't decide who starts and this was going on before Campen got here.
-
Thanks for clarifying. So, I was right in that it must've been with the twos because he was running Elf with the 1s from most reports throughout camp. So on one hand, yeah, it makes sense that they had Boze and Baker working almost exclusively together even if it was with the 2s to begin with, but it still frustrates me because the OL needs reps together, as a unit. So if Bozeman was gonna be the guy, he should've been in there with BC and Ickey. So, if that's because of that fake Asa QB competition, I think the complaint is still valid. It was a dumb way to arrive to the ultimate outcome.
-
No, the fact that he wasn't primarily running as the 1. Then he got hurt, and now he and the bought and paid for Panthers media are all now sharing this urgency that we need him back bc he's the 1. My point is, why was he not running with the 1s the whole camp and preseason, as he should've been. Because now he's lost another week to three weeks to injury in addition to all of the reps he lost while healthy to that bum Elf. And for what? Rhule just loves playing these little games like it's something of significance or he's falling someone. It's the same garbage he did with Baker and the QB comp, and the crap he did with Moton and the OL last preseason and camp. It's just stupid. It serves no purpose and all it does is hurt the team by not playing the guys where they should be to build chemistry with who they will be on the field with when it matters.

Also, didn't see it elsewhere, but apparently TMJ practiced yesterday, then came back today with a red jersey on. It think he's gone come the final roster cutdown.
-
I didnt recall hearing that. Maybe while Baker was working with the second team, because throughout camp, Rhule ran Elf as the starring center for the majority of it from what I recall. But no issue on my end. I'm just speaking from what I've seen reported. If you have info that counters that, I'm all for it.

You know, I hate to bitch and moan seemingly every practice thread, but again, it is just frustrating to see all of this concern for Bozeman now from our media guys. Now obviously, I never want any of our guys injured, and we definitely want and need Bozeman back asap,so I hope he gets healthy quickly... but I find it another example of an ongoing pattern that we discussed yesterday when it comes to Rhule. Everyone was banging on the table for Bozeman to get reps as the starring center and wondering why he was still wasting time and reps on Elf. He continued to play Elf. Now, Bozeman is injured, and it's like the staff and media have all become lockstep in their concern for getting Bozeman back, seemingly signaling that it is his job when healthy. It's mind boggling. If that is the case, aside should have been from day 1 of camp, AGAIN, WHY TF WAS HE NOT GETTING THE STARTER REPS TO BEGIN WITH???? This poo happens every year with Rhule and it is just maddening. If you planned for him to be the guy, why did you waste time that couldve been spent building chemistry and continuity?? Idc if they lessened his role this year, Rhule really is a fuging idiot. And it just sucks feeling like even if we win, we lose because it buys more time for said idiot. I believe people can learn and change at any point in their lives, but they have to want to, and it's like he has learned absolutely nothing.

I know Shoebert was really good a couple of years ago. Not sure about now, but if he's close, he could help.

Aqib Talib is a HORRIBLE HUMAN WHO I HOPE GOES TO HELL
Proudiddy replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
His brother shot snd killed the coach, but Aqib rushed him and threw the first punch. They were running up to jump him, but the brother just shot and killed him instead. -

I knew he had it in him from day one. From the late headshot at Pickles on the QB Sneak, to snatching Crabtree's chain, to his own off the field stuff, to trying to break Philly Brown's neck in the Superbowl... there's certain guys that you can just tell, at the end of the day, they have no regard or respect for human life. Yeah, football is a violent sport, but there are still means of respect and honor within it, and there's certain guys that have demonstrated the health and well-being of others means nothing to them, and Talib showed that multiple times. And sure, they're rich and can buy another chain, but I'm telling you, anyone that snatches a chain like that in the street is usually ready to kill somebody or die themselves. That right there showed me his mentality. He's always been that guy. Zero character. Complete dirtbag. I've known guys in real life like that. I've seen it in their eyes... that all they care about is themselves, and your, nor anyone else's life means anything to them, especially if it interferes with what they want or their objectives. That how Talib played the game. He couldn't have gave a fug less if he had paralyzed or injured anyone of those guys I named and it showed... I hope he gets charged and sentenced to the max. He is a scumbag. And idgaf what happens at a youth game, there is absolutely no reason as an adult man, let alone one that's mid 30s to 40, initiating or partaking in a fight for any reason. Grow the fug up. Like really, imagine telling people in the pen what you're there for, and it was for assaulting/shooting someone over a youth football game. Yeah, that seemed worth it. fuging dummies.- 55 replies

It wouldn't surprise me. I've been saying he may be on the outside looking in because of the emergence of Shi and Higgins mainly, but also accounting for Zylstra, Wright, and Saunders. All those guys are or have been healthy and producing. TMJ can't even get on the field... he flashed briefly last preseason and early on in the reg season, and even made a few plays in camp this year... but if you can't stay on the field, it doesn't matter how much potential you flash. I like TMJ, and I believe in his potential, but I think it's very possible he doesn't make it to the 53, and we couldn't really be upset about it.

This is a two-prong discussion, with one point being about Matt and the other about Baker. Was just watching his presser and when asked if they could see Baker as the long-term solution beyond this year, he responded that the media knows him well enough that he isn't going to talk about guys' futures, then said, "I'll leave that up to Scott and Dave." Now, that could just be coach speak deflecting responsibility in order to sidestep a question, but when asked about cuts and roles and potential additional signings, Matt had no qualms with throwing himself in there as part of the process. Could it be Matt accidentally acknowledged he doesn't have much say in anything pertaining to the future because that say was taken from him and he is coaching week to week, essentially? And interestingly enough, I was just thinking about Baker earlier and what our next few years look like in regards to him and the QB spot now. I don't doubt we could take another shot at a QB next draft to develop, but with what we know right now, this is now Baker's team and Matt Corral looks a long, long way from being ready to positively impact an NFL game from what we saw, and now he's injured. I'm thinking Baker is going to be here as the starter for the foreseeable future now. Had Corral looked better, maybe that would've changed things, but we have seen Baker perform on this level, know what he's capable of, and despite the dysfunction and lack of continuity around him in Cleveland, he had sustained periods of Top 10 QB success, stat-wise (especially when not playing injured), and has won a playoff game. We know he can be successful on this level. This is his team now, and I don't just mean because he was named starter for week 1... he's the starter for several years to come, at minimum.

And I've noticed that too... the flaws that many of us here constantly seem to call out, it's like he realizes it weeks to months later and then acknowledges the additional issues it caused. All those things really are why so many here are hard on him. We had out issues with Ron and his seeming stubbornness, but this isn't stubbornness with Rhule. It's so frustrating because it comes off as being clueless.
-
Yeah, they're saying that's his job moving forward. But that being said, I still agree the competition wad a charade and Rhule really missed the boat when it came to reps and getting guys in the best position to compete and be ready for the regular season. I trust Baker will be fine and the next week or two of practice will be good enough, but it would've been nice if he had been getting all of the time already lost to develop more chemistry with the 1s. But again, it'll be fine. But I think this is as good of a time as any to point out, that for all of his flaws as a gameday strategist, manager, etc., I think delegating reps, roles, and preparing guys for their roles may be Rhule's biggest weakness. The flipping and flopping has really hurt our team as a whole since he's been here. This goes all the way back to his first season with the Whitehead fiasco.

I think I said it at the draft, but I think Brandon Smith could be Micah Parsons-lite. Almost same size, same athleticism, similar versatility. He is going to be fun to watch. And all of the late draft guys are equally as exciting and intriguing to me. And i loved the Barno pick, as he could potentially and completely replace Reddick while growing into a much more well-rounded player, and Mays very well could end up a starter this year.
-
This honestly stinks. He looked bad, but again, I don't think he was ever given a chance by Rhule, and this ultimately feels like Rhule won. There definitely is something going on between Rhule and Fitt, and this feels like Rhule won off some bullshit. He gets to keep his beloved PJ and Darnold and never has to even try to help or develop Corral, which is what he intended all along. So glad we got Baker though. There's no denying he's the best QB on the roster, and I'm still excited about where he can take us if Rhule keeps his dumbass out of the way.
-
The scarier scenario is what if we do win those first 3 games, a la last season, and then he starts to go Super Rhule again, and we can't win for the next 10 weeks or so? Ahh, what a time to be a Panthers fan! Thanks Tepper!
-
And if I'm not mistaken, he also got destroyed on the sequence when PJ came in on the last drive.

My goodness. I just don't understand how Bama's offensive lines stay so dominant and then when these guys get to the pros they look like this??? Like wtf is going on. Just big for no fuging reason. He plays like he's 145 lbs., not 445 lbs.
-
That's what drew me in after last week. I kept noticing him blocking in-line during the game, but then there was one play where he chased a guy down during a run and completely obliterated him before the back wad tackled and I was like, "Damn. I'm in love."
-
I have been saying the reps were needed and having a better supporting cast made a huge difference, but he has not shown anything resembling promise of any kind in any of the snaps he's taken. If he had anything of promise, we'd see flashes. I really hope he pans out, but he looks about as bad as any rookie QB we've ever fielded.
-
Damn that looked good.
-
That was the one I saw before Ickey gave up two sacks. That was rough... and discouraging. I know he has time to get better, but I didn't expect to see that.
-
TBH, in terms of poise and composure specifically, he reminds me a lot of Darnold and Pickles. It just looks horrible. Happy feet, just tossing the ball up when he feels pressure, and despite being athletic, it looks like his legs are dead when he tries to take off to scramble. And yeah, those picks were about as bad as it can get. I understand he came from a very remedial offense in college and there's a steep learning curve, but that has very little to do with your decision making once the ball is snapped. I get he doesn't know fully what he's looking at yet, but that tossing the ball up like he is just looks like one of those traits that guys don't do/have if they're going to be any kind of good. In comparison, Zappe looked damn good and composed. He only fuged up on the pick because he clearly doesn't have a strong arm and he locked on to a sideline throw and threw it late. That's gonna happen to even the most seasoned QB on any late throw to the sidelines. Outside of that play, he was composed, decisive, showed great anticipation, and for the most part, accuracy. It looked like night and day in contrast with Corral.
