Dolphins Releasing Starting S and Team Captain Bobby McClain
Proudiddy replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wow, Blount still has kids young enough to be signed to play pro football? -
A couple things from the bullet points I've read here: I really, really hope our staff and so many of the analysts (Riddick, Kiper, McShay) out there who have spoken on it are right on Darnold. Everything hinges on it. As I've stated elsewhere many times, I just never saw "it" from him coming out of college, and what he looked like in NY was about what I expected. Now, could having a coach who wasn't a coked out idiot made all the difference? Sure. But, we just don't know. One thing I will say that stood out to me from Louis Riddick's comments about it during the draft was not only his conviction that Darnold was good still, but that when they interviewed him before their Jets' games, he would not make excuses or throw anyone else under the bus. And from Riddick's take, it sounded like everyone knew how bad the organization was and Darnold had every right to throw them under the bus. So, that really stood out to me and impressed me. But again, I just was never impressed by what I saw physically, but I really hope I'm wrong. And just to play devil's advocate, I know he mentioned the hit rate on QBs in the first round being so low, but you never know, this year could be the year that all of them hit. Again, I just hope they're more right about Darnold than they are wrong for passing up Fields. Also, they seemed to love Stafford, and he's really good, but I really prefer a QB who can not just extend plays with his legs, but is a threat with them a la Cam and Fields. If you remove their names and tell me I can choose from a QB who has been in a dysfunctional organization for 3 years, has statistically been one of the worst QBs in that time, has a good but not great arm, and is an OK athlete, or I can have a guy who is a rookie, has put up huge numbers against the best programs in the country on a few occasions, can throw it 70 yards on a rope, has 4.4 speed, and their both roughly the same age - I'm taking the latter. But, I also see and agree with the logic of getting Horn to fill a need and hoping you're right on Darnold. Anyway, as someone else said in another post, at worst, if we are wrong on Darnold, the 49ers have provided a great blueprint... if you do a magnificent job of building up the rest of the team first and all thats left is QB, the price to get one is one worth paying at that point, as they did this year (if they're right with Lance). Also, it could be recency bias, but I just don't remember Hurney or Gettleman ever speaking on their picks with this much certainty and conviction that they were coming in to contribute right away. Part of it may have to do with, even from the outside looking in, that there appears to be a legit plan in place, and the picks bear that out. They took guys that made sense, filled a need, and clearly show they plan on throwing them in the fire immediately. Under Gettleman and Hurney, we always had those headacratching picks where it literally felt like they just were throwing darts in the war room - no need, not athletic, etc. And in the presser, it also was clear through their generic responses that they weren't clear on how that pick was going to be used or if they even planned on them being on the roster come August. We are clearly in a different era, and I love it.

Tryin’ to make a roster out of Fitty cents (A Horn and a tackle)
Proudiddy replied to SCP's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's baaaaaack... and no opposing team's fan base nor toilet is safe. -
I guess if he comes as a cheap insurance policy, but according to my friend who is a Bears fan, this dude sucks. And the fact they released him after drafting a rookie LT tells me I dont think this was just cap related.

Relative Athletic Score for all drafted players
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just to play devil's advocate, because I do believe he looks fairly out of shape, even for a big boy... but, I don't think Norwell was super athletic. I have hope for him though. He has the pedigree and there have been quite a few interior OLs taken over the last decade who have succeeded in the league with pretty disgusting measurables. -
Interesting note about Terrace Marshall
Proudiddy replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Wow, did not know that was his uncle! I was just thinking about this story yesterday... ESPN made a 30 for 30 short on it and it makes me tear up everytime I watch it. -
Welp, I had no idea about that. I was referring strictly to my knowledge of JOATs existence and content within the Panthers forum. I had no knowledge of any of that.
-
Just wanted to recognize JOAT for stepping up yesterday and creating the draft pick threads. He has been a Huddler since our earliest of early days and one of the good guys. Thank you for your help, JOAT! Everybody show JOAT some love and #KeepPounding!

Round 4 - Carolina Panthers select Chuba Hubbard, RB, Oklahoma State.
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
I liked him in 2019, but he seemed to tail off... hoping for the best. -
Yeah. I'm not gonna get worked up about it. I just liked his value in the 4th because of his athleticism. And we could use a good coverage LB.
-
I know what you're saying, but I'm not sure if that's what Rhule was inferring.
-
That is the first one I am legitimately upset about missing on in Jabril Cox. We were there and could've taken him and traded back.
-
Lol, ahh... well, there's that.
-
This is getting ridiculous. See y'all in the 2022 Draft, because apparently we aren't picking in this one. But, I will say, again, that last night Rhule said their guys have said a 3rd rounder this year is the equivalent to a 2nd next year, and I'm assuming they've applied that logic for each round, with the implication being this draft is deeper and has more value. Also, they Fitt said they felt comfortable trading down bc they know there is more value grouping in the areas they're trading to versus where they were originally picking. But this is crazy.
-
Welp, see you guys at the 2022 draft. wtf???
-
I like Wade, too. Why did he drop? Was it off-field stuff? I thought he was once considered a first round guy.
-
Carter is gonna be steal.
-
Welp, nevermind... fuging Jets.
-
I'm liking Cox, Michael Carter, and Gillespie here with our next pic.
-
What did we actually gain with the trading down
Proudiddy replied to AU-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Also, in last night's presser, Rhule And Fitt said according to their guys (scouts?) a 3rd this year is the equivalent to a 2nd next year, and Rhule said when they viewed it that way, they essentially paid off the Darnold trade already. I thought that was fascinating.- 80 replies

Well, it wasn't my comp lol. Still, maybe he was referring to frame and measurables/potential? Tremble's athleticism is mentioned all through his scouting report.
-
Which is funny, bc I watched the post-rounds presser and when they asked Fitterer about what traits the players we picked so far shared, he said stuff like leadership, loves the game, has an edge, great teammate, great work ethic, etc. And then Rhule followed him up immediately and said athleticism. And I think he said something like, when we know they have transferable athletic traits that carry over from college to the pros, it's easier to develop their football skills. So, yeah, it's clearly something we are targeting and we prioritize. From the metrics people have shared showing how athletic our guys are compared to the rest of the prospects, even compared to previous drafts, let alone the current one, to Rhule actually stating it, it's clear we have stepped into a new era... and I love it. I know Rhule wanted advanced analytics at the forefront, as did Tepper, and it seems Fitt was the perfect fit (pun intended) to punctuate the direction in which we were going. Seattle was doing this stuff for years ahead of many other organizations and it's how they found guys like Kam Chancellor and Sherman in the later rounds and turned them to all-pros.

Ahh yes, Gettlemagic. And so commenced the post-Superbowl destruction of a potential dynasty thanks to that dumbass draft and then letting Norman walk for nothing. Smh, what a dickhead.
-
Went back and watched NFLN's coverage of our picks to see their breakdown of them and it was all love, but the most interesting take to me? Daniel Jeremiah, who I really like and respect, said Tremble reminds him a lot of George Kittle when he was coming out of college. If he can become THAT or even close? A reliable pass catcher, combined with his athleticism and nasty streak... My God. Edit: sorry for the initial typos that I hopefully corrected, my kids are up and blasting Gangam Style (with dance party) from Alexa and I can't hear my own thoughts.

Good. Even though I hate/hated the Saints, I always had a soft spot for Joe as he is a Fayetteville (my hometown) legend. Nice to see things come full circle and he is back in NC via his son. Happy to have them both here. Jaycee is gonna be a beast. Also, someone let Joe know, if he didn't realize how the media feels about us, check out when they go to extended commercial breaks during the draft. P.S. - Aaron Rodgers is a whiny, attention whore, just like his predecessor, and is following his exact same late-career-crisis blueprint.
