Don't know if this would be better in this thread or the FA rumors one, but Woj just tweeted that we have been open to doing a sign and trade for Mo, being that we technically still own his FA rights with the cap hold. I could definitely see us using this to leverage something we'd like... And we wouldn't have to use our MLE in the process.

And for those of you thinking he may still be brought back on a cheaper deal... NOPE. Look at Biz's tweets. He's not coming back, and that was made clear to him. I'm implore you to go look at those plus/minuses from last season... Combined with actually watching Al suck ass defensively night after night, looking at them and realizing he makes our team WORSE despite his offense (which I'm still not a fan of), it's what finally convinced me he has to go.
-
I despised the pick when it was made. I did not want Biz. But once we drafted him, I figured let him develop and see what we have. He is among the elite rim protectors in the league. People can say what they want about his struggles on offense, but even with those, his plus/minus as the starter while Al was out was ridiculously higher than Al's last season. This is why I want Al gone... If you think we're building this offensive juggernaut that will outscore every opponent, then you aren't very smart. It takes 20 fuging minutes for Al to make it up court every possession, and that's after he let's his man score like he isn't even guarding him (because he's not). BBut oh well, I'm used to it by now. And since Cho doesn't understand drafting or how to retain players worth retaining, we may as well package our draft picks for the next 20 years to OKC for KD. We don't need them... He'll either draft the wrong guy AGAIN, or just let him walk once his contract is up, so what does it matter. poo is a joke. Can't wait to see our hamster wheel philosophy on the court next season and get pissed off all over again when Al scores 33 on 25 shots while his man scores 35 on 15.

Coming to terms with the Frank Kaminsky pick...
Proudiddy replied to Jeremy Igo's topic in Charlotte Hornets
To his credit, Frank has always seemed like a cool guy off the court too. I just didn't want to give it to him because I remembered he had said something negative about our franchise, but in my mind, I remembered it being something more like, "fug those hillbillies. their fans suck. I want to impregnate their mothers in front of them." -

Following our franchise model, I'd say go for it 100%, and then when we realize we fuged up, hit the reset button, blow in the cartridge, and do it all over again 100% next season. But, in all seriousness, ABSOLUTELY, YES! I would love it. -
Coming to terms with the Frank Kaminsky pick...

I really don't hold his comments about the "Bobcats" against him. I also REALLY didn't want to pick him. The pick makes no sense from a roster breakdown standpoint. After the trades, and considering no other moves were made before the draft yesterday after the Lamb deal, it actually would've made more sense to either go up for Mudiay (which we were rumored to have tried) or trade back a few spots and take Payne or Hunter. Size and quality backup play at PG was probably our biggest need. Instead, we took Frank. Now, if we could trust that Cho and Co. were capable of picking the BPA, then now sweat. But, he has never done that. And in my armchair-GM-opinion, there were plenty more prospects that offered tons more value at the 9 spot, regardless of needs, since that wasn't a factor in taking Frank either. So, if we take them at their word and believe that they believe a guy that wouldn't even come in for a private workout if the BPA, the biggest beef I have with the pick right now is his fit. We currently have Hawes, Al, Cody, Biz (if given the QO, which he should), and Frank. How the fug is that going to work??? A gluttony of bigs, and Clifford already has a hard time figuring out a rotation as it is. IMO, again, as I repeatedly exclaimed yesterday, Al is the odd man out, IMO. Is there a place for a back-to-the-basket big in today's NBA? Absoutely, if they have some semblance of athleticism, average passing ability, and PLAYS DEFENSE. Al has none of those, so he has to go. As of right now, I'm still not happy with the pick. If we moved Al, then I would like the pick, possibly even love it... Imagine a first unit with Hawes/Zeller and a 2nd with Biz/Frank. Nice spacing, nice balance of skill and offense and defense with either combo. Plug Al into either, and poo gets fuged up. But, this is our FO, so I fully expect us to not do this, instead, we'll probably let Biz walk and trade Cody before signing Al to a lifetime contract. The one thing I can take away from the pre-draft and draft acquisitions in a positive light is, from top to bottom, we are MUCH better now than we were a month ago. -
And I thought I was going to hate Devin Booker as the pick... Lol. It just makes no sense whatsoever. All the bigs we already have, why??? None of the pieces make sense, unless we are moving a significant part of the rotation... And if that is the case I wish we would hurry the fug up and do it so this pick looks less stupid. I just don't understand.

We poo the bed again. I'm going to sleep. fug this draft and our front office.

Wow, can't believe Winslow slipped, but knew someone would. I think he's a great player but we're already loaded on wings. I take Winslow and leverage another team to trade for him... Hopefully we get to dump Al.
-
I really hope we can move up via Al and take a franchise changer.
-
As much as I dislike Kaminsky, I actually wouldn't be mad with whatever we did with the pick as long as it rid us of Al, although if we went that high, my preference would be Hezonja.
-
I see... Sounds reasonable. I'd really like to see if we can talk Sacto or NY into taking Al. I saw some people speculating that we could be moving Kemba, but hopefully, if our FO has any sense, they see Kemba as one of few bright spots on the team. Unless a move would net us mudiay or Russell, then I would be hesitant to move kemba. I really hope we find a taker for Al. I feel like he's the biggest piece holding us back at this point.

Regardless, I just don't think any deal we do will be directly with the Celtics. Ainge just seems like a greedy asshole. Cho knows who the mark ass GMs are out there lol.
-
Curious Jase, why do you think the two are related?
-
Also, now that the Celts rumors have fell apart, I can't remember of I already mentioned it here, but I asked Steve Reed on Twitter if we were done dealing after the Lamb deal and he said, "nope." So something must be bubbling... I actually think several somethings are bubbling if MKG is the only safe Hornet.
-
Founding Hornet, the guy at HP who has claimed to have inside info, said last night that Cody was safe after the rumors initially came out... He just came back and said "scratch that, no one is safe except for MKG." Yes!!!! Bye bye Al!
-
I hope the knicks talks are going like this... "well, we're willing to give you Al Jefferson. you know, Al Jefferson. we have Al Jefferson. Al Jefferson is here."
-
Yeah, it appears Smart is only available for the #3 if Okafor is there. BUT, just read from another reporter that Philly called Boston about interest in the pick and they did not make that offer.
-
Now this... Remember Jase saying he was hoping we could get some length at guard? I think Jedi Master Cho is working his magic...
-
I thought maybe he was just a big fan of Cho's wheeling and dealing.
-
Yeah CB, I can see the advantages to having Sully. Definitely gives us added flexiibility on offense with his shooting and rebounding... He's also fairly rugged, hard-nosed... He's a good player, I was just hoping we could move up and move on from Al. But, who knows? As you said, this may open that possibility up. We keep stringing them together.

But now there is this... Berger is an excellent reporter:
