RIP to a true legend. He got me addicted to football and was the gateway to me studying and learning the game from an early age. An icon. And it's crazy that the documentary on him just dropped this past weekend, IIRC, and he passed within days of it.

I think as long as Seimien (sp?) or Hill play, they will beat us... unless Payton pulls the old "no! Please don't beat us! We really want to win, I promise!" showing like he did a couple years back on Rivera... if they're playing to win and anybody but Book is playing, they will easily whoop our ass.
-
I read his excuse was that he accidentally must've liked it while having his phone in his pocket during mass. Lol... It almost makes you want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but being you're the GM of an NFL team, why would you be that deep into other people's tweets that you could randomly like any of them... he had to have already clicked on that tweet or a thread linking to it to even accidentally like it. I feel bad for Jimmy, lol.

Should the Panthers bot be banned to smack?
Proudiddy replied to PhillyB's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's definitely pushed the envelope as far as it can go. -
I said it in another thread, but watching that live was so cringe. The reference was awkward, out of place, and just seemed like a throwaway from someone who has no effing idea what they're talking about. Dude is out here trying to give us Jay-Z bio bullet points but when he was asked earlier in the season in a presser what is the one concert he would want to go see if he had the choice of any performer, he said Dave Matthews Band. I'm not trying to stereotype, but I have a feeling the guy who considers DMB as a lifetime bucket list experience isn't all that well-versed in Jay-Z, nor Roc-A-Fella's (the "agency" he referenced) origin stories... but, hey, the freshmen at Baylor ate it up! I'm sure it will work here, too! You can't make this poo up.
-
He told us, man! We lost our ST ace and 4th WR with no notice! And our #2 corner (although I still have no idea who he was referring to there? Bouye?)! And our guys still showed up and held them to under 60 points, and we drove right down the field two different times and kicked some legit FGs, bro. Like he said, the defense could've came out and said, "the offense is terrible today," and let the Bucs score two more TDs. But they didn't! They only let them score 32 points. Not 46. It's under the surface, man. The process. It's too bad you don't see it.
-
But, like he tells the guys all the time, Jay-Z took seven years to become an overnight sensation.
-
Yup, that whole presser was an absolute trainwreck of the highest magnitude. Revealed a lot about him and what he thinks of himself. Imagine you working a job, absolutely sucking and by all observable metrics are failing miserably at it, and then telling the people that evaluate you, "It's working. You just can't see it. There's a process underneath the results. I'm sorry you can't see it yet. But, it's 1000 percent working."

100% agree. I kind of said the same when the new regime released him the first time around - he's a guy that you let decide when he's ready to go because of what he's still capable of doing and because of what he's done for this organization as a whole. Now, there are things that have to be hashed out in that scenario - like I'm not sure you can afford to pay him 20 million a year in salary still, but I'm sure there are ways to give him that value without it affecting the cap (as it's rumored that is what the Pats did for Brady for years). The only thing that really bothers me about the legacy stuff at this point, especially with this poo coaching staff, is continuing to trot him out there as the starter for guaranteed losses. But, that is why I keep saying it - I really hope Tepper recognizes Cam's value both on and off the field through all of this BS, and brings him back next season with a competent NFL coaching staff that gives us and him a chance to win.
-
Me either. He was right in saying that Cam was a competitor and is really only concerned with winning and competing, but even in that vein, he denied him the opportunity. He knew what he was doing and what was on the line. And judging from Cam's comments afterwards and referencing all the great players he played with and learned from that "knew what it meant to Keep Pounding," as well as multiple allusions to the number of cowards who have stood at that podium and deferred responsibility, his being adamant that he isn't done, referencing his part in being part of the most successful season our franchise has had to date, as well as repeatedly talking about reflecting on all those things, times, and people over the years and his being a part of the community while he was standing on the sidelines and watching Sam run around like a chicken with his head cut off... yeah, I'd say Cam wanted to be in there. Again, I hope the saving grace is that he's back next season so that doesn't have to be his final home game, and its with a competent, NFL-caliber coaching staff.

And this thread seems like as good of a place as any to share this reminder again - when we offered Rhule the job, instead of accepting immediately, he took the contract offer to the Giants and asked them to match it in hopes he could use us as leverage and take that opening from Judge who they were locking in on. They rejected him. Yet another reason to fire his slimy, sorry ass.

What if Rhule hires NFL Coordinators and positions coaches?
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Nope, because 1) he wouldn't do it, and 2) even if he did do it, he won't ever defer to them because from everything we've seen and heard, he thinks he's the smartest guy in the building. -
Good. Hope he's out for awhile.
-
That presser was an absolute train wreck. He rambled on much more than usual, like a job interview answer that you knew you fuged up and just keep going to try to fix it but only make it worse. That Jay-Z anecdote was hilariously out of place, awkward, and inauthentic. He's running out of snake oil.
-
Also, Cam said the city has had multiple cowards as the face of the teams and he's not ever going that route bc he's an alpha and is accountable. Also said we've had multiple cowards step up to that podium and blame someone else. Very interesting.
-
I didnt hear that from Rhule. Cam said he wasn't saying he was done, "for more than one reason," and that was the only thing that sounded like an allusion to next season.
-
It was an intentional slap in the face to Cam from Rhule. Complete and utter bullshit. My only hope out of it is that he knows he's on the outs and was doing it as a shot across the bow and daring Tepper to make the move... I really, really hope we bring Cam back next season, even if it's as a backup, instead of letting him go out with Rhule fuging poo up and being a petty ass bitch.

Featuring: Lying your ass off about players and unceremoniously dumping the face of the franchise so you can trade for trash ass game managers and draft busts, while investing a 2nd and a 4th round pick and over 80 million dollars in them, only to bring the face of the franchise back to embarrass him and bench him again for the draft bust. Spend every pick in the 2020 draft on defense, including a Top 10 pick on a useless DT who spends more time on his ass than on his feet who is trending towards a bust, and at an increasingly rapid speed. Draft a CB with your 8th overall pick in 2021, over multiple franchise LTs who then gets injured in week 3 and misses the rest of the season. All of the aforementioned assets spent on defense over the first two years of your tenure, and yet, your defense is in the bottom quarter of the league against the run. Trade a 3rd rounder for a CB who is trending towards being a 1st round bust from the 2020 draft and is rumored to not even want to play football. Trade a 6th rounder for a DE who is inactive every week. Sign a LB as one of your FA headliners of the 2021 class, can't get him to buy into your garbage collegiate culture, so you trade him for a sandwich and he goes onto lead the league in tackles and make the Pro Bowl. Have opponents repeatedly mock your team and publicly discuss how they know what plays your offense is running before you run them, as well as opposing coaches repeatedly refer to your schemes as "that college stuff." Repeatedly throw that aforementioned face of the franchise under the bus in post-game pressers for your own shortcomings. Lead the league in penalties after humiliating yourself all preseason by carrying, promoting, and parading around a collegiate-reeking "DBO" sign to other teams' camps as well as your own. Sounds like must-see TV every Sunday.

Official Buccaneers at Panthers GameDay Thread
Proudiddy replied to Zod's topic in Carolina Panthers
Looking out for his sorry ass USC brethren.
