The various allegiances led to dysfunction and a “Hunger Games” culture, with assistants undercutting other coaches and taking suggestions to management, which eventually culminated in the in-season firings of Reich, quarterbacks coach Josh McCown and running backs coach Duce Staley. I’m holding out hope that the RB coach (Duce) and QB coach (McCown) disagreed with the OL coach (Campen) and that’s what largely led to our OL struggles (sacks, scheme, QB pressure, lack of rushing, Ickey’s regression). Since Campen (and Tabor) were from the previous regime and had a straight-line to ownership, they provoked the Hunger Games conflict, and initially survived. Talk about a toxic work environment. Time for a clean slate.

They are all free agents this year. Upgrade QB2 and let Bryce compete each week this year (but not career).

Just sign Minshew, Tyrod, or Brissette. Bryce needs game-day competition but not career competition. And the Panthers need wins.

I’ve been saying we need to upgrade QB2 this off-season. Some free agent vets that can be available include Gardner Minshew, Tyrod Taylor, and Jacoby Brissette. It’s too early to bail on Bryce forever, but he needs to have a starter-level backup that can legitimately push him (and win us games in the process).

Seems like Tabor and Campen (and maybe Caldwell?) were the initiators of the Hunger Games? They benefitted initially but are getting cleaned out fast now.

Was Tabor the one texting Tepper? I really really want to hear some of these guys interviewed about what happened. Definite Hunger Games environment. There’s a reason none (McCown, Duce especially) have not spoken out (NDA).

This board would flip if we tried to replace a 5’10 QB with a 5’10 QB.

Broncos board I don’t support this nor think it will happen, but this Broncos board is suggesting Russell Wilson to the Panthers (Canales was with Russ a long time in Seattle, ). Russ is almost definitely getting moved (or cut) but I highly doubt it’s to Carolina. FWIW

I agree with that, that’s why I say we need to have the best backup QB in the league with the most upside. Tyrod, Minshew, a few others are just better than Dalton and still won’t threaten Bryce long-term - just push him. When Bryce needs to be benched, Bryce needs to be benched. And we need to still have a chance to win the game.

You changed this whole topic around, but that’s what we do on The Huddle I guess. Gardner Minshew, Tyrod Taylor, and Jacoby Brissette are better starting QB’s than Bryce Young or Andy Dalton *RIGHT NOW*. Bryce should start, but he needs a vet at #2 that will push him and also keep the fans happy (wins) if inserted into the lineup. Not someone to threaten his career (Fields, rookie) but a vet to compete.
