Everyone knew the Blazers wanted Scoot at #3 and we had both players equal but slightly preferred Miller. How can you not get literally ANYTHING and trade down 1-spot? I’m down with Miller but the front office’s strategic moves are infuriating. We could have easily had Miller and more!
-
That’s the whole thing. We went for a player we liked at #2 yet could have still had him trading down to #3 and a literal bag of chips. That’s completely infuriating.

Watch the Pelicans give the Blazers a haul for Scoot, so that the Blazers can keep Dame happy.
-
MJ must be the worst poker player ever.
-
The point is that OTHER teams want to trade proven STARS and their picks for Scoot. Pretty sure a proven All-star and #16 in this draft is way better value than just Miller.
-
The whole NBA wants the #3 pick right now to get Scoot. We have the #2 pick and are turning down Zion Williams and a 1st? To draft Brandon Miller? I mean I like the kid but come on front office. Draft the value not the fit on a losing team.

If the Blazers are forced to draft Miller at #3, Dame Liliard literally starts packing his bags tonight.

We don’t have to choose trade partners on draft day. We have all off-season. If I’m the front office I’m dreaming Franchise-Altering moves. For example…we draft Scoot at #2 and the Blazers are thoroughly screwed. Dame isn’t happy with them drafting Miller, declares he wants out next week. All of a sudden, we have a TON of assets we can throw at them in a (perhaps 3-team?) trade. Miles could be made available, Scoot, we still have that other 1st rounder, we have expiring contracts that are very appealing (Hayward and Oubre) and , we have attractive trade pieces in Terry and PJ. Take Scoot and see what deals you can work this off-season. No brainer. The NBA would be immediately altered and this whole roster could be reinvented by simply drafting and dealing Scoot. Just go in with that mindset please Mr. Jordan.

I’m fine with the mindset of just drafting Scoot and fielding all offers the rest of the draft/week/etc. Scoot’s demand league-wide is CLEARLY greater than Miller’s even if you ignore the gun thing and if we don’t see the “fit” with Scoot. You can move Scoot before the season starts if the offers are there. He simply has more value right now. This franchise needs TONS of VALUE out of this pick, not just a shooter. Draft Scoot and figure the rest out later.

If we don’t trade #2 for a haul or draft Scoot, we are stupid and don’t understand leverage. I have preferred Miller up until this past week - as we’ve seen all of these crazy leaks about teams desperately wanting Scoot (Pelicans, Blazers, many others). Even if you prefer Miller…you have to take Scoot at this point. Blazers have zero leverage here. If they draft Scoot, Lillard is gone. And if they want Scoot that bad, they have to trade up one spot. It’s been a long time since a team has had as much leverage at #2 that we do tonight. And for the Miller lovers (I’m one)…what does Portland do if we draft Scoot? Lol. We could later offer them Scoot for Miller and other assets. Or how about a package with Dame? Hopefully Kup and MJ have been playing the game correctly all along, saying Miller is the pick, despite teams apparently ready to throw proven stars and picks out there for Scoot. If you don’t get stars and picks for #2, just pick Scoot and field all offers. This has to be a franchise-changing move, not just adding a 19 year old. I love Miller’s shooting but you can’t draft him at #2 tonight.

Kyle Boller once threw it 50+ yards on his knees - and he’s in the NFL Hall of Fame.

We got a *basketball player* that is arguably the best BIG on this roster right now. And we gave up next to nothing. He just turned 28 so hopefully we can re-sign him this off-season; he’ll make a huge difference to these younger dudes. -

Hornets shooting for an all 6’7 lineup. 1: LaMelo Ball (6’7) 2: Gordon Hayward (6’7) 3: Miles Bridges (6’7) 4: Montrezl Harrell (6’7) 5: PJ Washington (6’7) (I kid, I kid. Kinda.) -

I like Montrezl, surprised we didn’t move PJ. -
Hornets trying to trade PJ for a big man

You probably know as little about Yurt as I do...but look him up. 23 year old 7-footer and better rim protector and scorer than what we have (Plumlee). PJ Washington is not a star, nevermind a starter on the 9th place team. This is not a barn-burner trade, it’s a slight upgrade at C and maybe PF if Morris becomes available soon. (This trade is still a rumor for the record). -

He’s been suffering from whiplash. Sabonis is hit him hard in the back/neck in October. He’s been wanting to play the past month but Miami has been holding him back. I like the Morris brothers a lot as “enforcers” at the PF position. And a true 7’0 center in Yurt...I’ll take that deal. We could use (need!) both. I hope this deal happens. (Note: KZ was just traded earlier today so he won’t be in this possible deal). -

https://heatnation.com/rumors/report-miami-heat-interested-in-trading-omer-yurtseven-kz-okpala-or-markieff-morris-for-p-j-washington/ Here’s an article from the past few minutes that confirms the interest. And it has a Heat insider as a source. -

Marcus Morris is on the Clippers. Markieff Morris is on the Heat and has been injured all season. Assuming they meant Markieff. -
So let’s package (PJ and Plumlee or a rookie) for a modest upgrade at the starting 5 that plays some D. No need to give up draft picks, as per this recent deal indicates. Not mortgaging the future, but some options above that would fit the new bill.

Guessing this means they decided to keep Myles Turner. Damn.
