I actually still really like Monk as a player, but yeah. Another miss. -

Wait you don’t think MJ drafted well? All 1st rounders in the TOP-15 picks: Noah Vonleh Frank Kaminsky Adam Morrison Cody Zeller Bismack Biyombo MKG James Bouknight (I’ll throw Kwame Brown in there too at WAS) I know the NBA draft is tough, but that’s a really high bust rate for picks that high. -
In a deep qb class should the panther take one day 3?

To me, it’s more important that we upgrade our backup QB with a higher-end vet. Bring in Minshew, Tyrod, or Brissett to both mentor Bryce and also win us some games if we need them. Bryce should not be deemed “unbenchable” this year if we have a chance to win a game and he’s struggling or hurt. -
Hornets Trading Gordon Hayward to OKC

Never followed him, but Tre Mann’s highlights are VERY impressive. He was just buried on OKC’s depth chart, but looks to be a promising young asset at PG. #18 overall a couple years ago, former 5-star McDonalds AA and Jordan AA. Dude’s hesi game is nasty. Tre Mann highlights -

Miller is a stud. We just offloaded Terry, Hayward, and PJ. Got back two 1sts, two 2nds, a few good talents (Curry, Grant W), and two (I’m assuming) huge contract buyouts ie future Cap Space. Franchise reset, had to happen, I’m glad. -
Hornets Trading Gordon Hayward to OKC

APNEWS: CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte Hornets are sending often-injured small forward Gordon Hayward to the Oklahoma City Thunder for guard Tre Mann, forward Davis Bertans, point guard Vasilije Micic and second-round draft picks in 2024 and 2025, according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity Thursday because the deal had not yet been approved by the league. Also, I just saw that Bertans is making $17mil a year meaning he and Lowry are taking up almost $50mil/yr. Hopefully this means that some Kupchick salary cap wizardry is forthcoming. -
Didn’t realize Grant Williams is from Charlotte (Providence Day HS) and could have gone to Harvard or Yale but chose Tennessee basketball instead. Two-Time SEC Player of the Year. 25 years old and VP of the NBPA. On paper, I love it. You’d think he’d be an immediate starter even if everyone was healthy, right? WR1 has become the new QB1. You have to draft them and play them on their rookie deals for 4/5 years. Once they’re up for their second contract, they’re replaceable. WR is the sexy position in high school and college, NFL mindset needs to adapt.

Rumor of Burns traded to Baltimore (probably baseless rumor)
HardcoreHokie replied to JawnyBlaze's topic in Carolina Panthers
Burns for a 1st this year, a 2nd next year, and EDGE David Ojabo? Yes please. -
Would be funny if Dallas DC Quinn becomes HC in Washington…. And then former Washington HC Rivera becomes DC in Dallas. Bitter rivals swapping coaches.

But it’s worth noting a couple of other staff moves related to Tepper. The Athletic confirmed Friday that Canales is not retaining special teams coordinator Chris Tabor or offensive line coach James Campen, who had considerable influence with Tepper after the owner strongly encouraged Frank Reich to hang on to them from Matt Rhule’s staff. The various allegiances led to dysfunction and a “Hunger Games” culture, with assistants undercutting other coaches and taking suggestions to management, which eventually culminated in the in-season firings of Reich, quarterbacks coach Josh McCown and running backs coach Duce Staley. I’m holding out hope that the RB coach (Duce) and QB coach (McCown) disagreed with the OL coach (Campen) and that’s what largely led to our OL struggles (sacks, scheme, QB pressure, lack of rushing, Ickey’s regression). Since Campen (and Tabor) were from the previous regime and had a straight-line to ownership, they provoked the Hunger Games conflict, and initially survived. Talk about a toxic work environment. Time for a clean slate.

Nah, those were horrible drops. Like that’s your job, just make the easy catch in a huge moment drops. And then Zay with the taunting after a huge play and then cutting his finger lol changed the whole complexion of that game.
-
They will all talk about Lamar and Dan Campbell tomorrow, but Zay Flowers and Josh Reynolds lost those two games.

Did the panthers lose on the CMC trade?
HardcoreHokie replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
We traded the best playmaker in the league for Jonathan Mingo, DJ Johnson, Chandler Zavala and a 2024 5th rounder. There are reasons Fitterer isn’t here anymore and that’s one. -
Man, whoever loses they tear apart. I said at halftime Lamar and Purdy were gonna get abused by the talking heads on Monday. Now it’s gonna be Lamar and Dan Campbell. That’s just how it works in this era. Literally Monday Morning Armchair Quarterbacks. Should be talking about Lions WR #8 Reynolds. The first drop was very bad, the second drop lost the game.

As I suspected, Tabor (and Campen and likely Caldwell) going directly to the owner. Only reason they kept their jobs. Until now. As a manager, if my employees that I hired went straight to the owner on the regular I would be livid.

Tony Pauline: Campen was Tepper's "eyes and ears"
HardcoreHokie replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I called this yesterday in another thread. It always seemed sketch that both Duce and McCown went the same day as Reich. And then you promote your Special Teams coach!? to interim HC. Always smelled like a couple rats on staff and now they’re all gone. -
I’ve been saying we need to upgrade QB2 this off-season. Some free agent vets that can be available include Gardner Minshew, Tyrod Taylor, and Jacoby Brissette. It’s too early to bail on Bryce forever, but he needs to have a starter-level backup that can legitimately push him (and win us games in the process).

No way Evero replaces Carroll as the Seahawks HC.
-
That’s fine but it’s still a part of the business. You fire 3 head coaches in 5 years and also 3 interims…doesn’t exactly instill a lot of confidence for the organization.

What’s that bear doing? Whats his name? Sir Purr, you call him that? Okay. “Thats our mascot.” (Marshawn Lynch level.)
