Would keeping Burns require another big D-line addition?
PootieNunu replied to Donald LaFell's topic in Carolina Panthers
Burns is the type of guy that should only be on the field in obvious pass rushing situations. He is a hinderance in any other situation. -
The dudes price tag is going to be close to 30m to play for us. We are not in a position to add ANY high priced FAs. Those are the types of moves you make when you feel you are one piece away from competing for a super bowl. The best thing we can do is resign our own guys and pick up draft capital. not go on a spending spree for names.

He has gotten a raise 2 seasons in a row, he played on his 5th year option at 16m and now is on the tag at 24m. If he wanted a big payday he should have had a monster season last year, he didnt and now his contract will be adjusted accordingly. Spotrac has his value at 21m per.

What elite talent are you adding from FA? You have a tendency to want to sign every FA that has a recognizable name regardless of the price tag or team fit.
-
Incase you havent noticed we already have a roster full of nobodies. You dont build your team with high priced FA signings. You draft well and fill holes in FA. Our team sucks and overpaying for some mid ass WR is not going to fix BY. Which of the top teams got there on the back of their FAs? Resign Luvu and Brown. trade Burns, continue getting ird of players like Donte and Hurst. Embrace the suck this upcoming season, there is not a FA out there that will make us contenders next season.
-
We dont need to sign any FA's that are going to be costly. We arent winning poo this season, stop mortgaging the future to still fuging suck. Thats how we ended up where we are at now.
-
Thats because he is best used as a situational pass rusher, he is not an every down EDGE. You dont pay those type of players 30m+ a season. Of course if he goes to a team that scores a bunch of points and lets him rush the passer all game he will put up more sacks. He will still be the same player he has always been.

Should have been done years ago before our team was gutted.

If Fitt were still here Russ would already be otw the Charlotte to become the leagues highest paid QB and BY would be shipped off to the highest bidder.

2021 was three seasons ago....

Rizzuti & USA Today on prospects we've talked with
PootieNunu replied to top dawg's topic in Carolina Panthers
Probably was a no brainer, we are looking to pay him probably 20-25m and he is looking for 30+ Go suck an egg Burns. -
So 3 seasons ago he was elite? I just said that.
-
Pfft Round 2, Raiders are snatching this guy in the 1st.
-
I think Morgan was in charge of Pro personnel moves, probably why he got to keep his job, some of the guys he brought in last season were solid.
-
This x1000 Which I guess in reality is 32 teams, but get real.
-
Rodgers hasnt been elite for like 3 seasons now..... The guys in this thread set the bar for Elite QBs and Rodgers as of late is not it.
-
I guess he can only go to like 4 teams if he is looking for a truly elite QB. Ravens, Chiefs, Bills, or Bengals. He probably could be the featured WR with the Chiefs or Ravens so I guess that moves it down to 2 teams

The Texans hit on a QB and coaching, that was what turned them around. Sure Dell and Anderson were nice pieces, but they would still suck ass if they hired Reich, drafted Bryce, and kept everything else the same.
-
It is pretty hard to trade a free agent. The time to trade Burns was 2 years ago but Fitt fuged that up. We could have traded him again at last years trade deadline but again refused. The only options now are sign him to a long term contract, franchise tag him, or let him walk. The only way I see us getting any worthwhile draft capitol for him is by signing him to a deal and paying a good chunk of his salary and then trading him.

You guys steadily trashing the OL like it was a leagues worst unit. Back over here in reality where Bryce and the entire offense fuging sucks, he had 2.5 seconds of pocket time the same damn amount as Patrick Mahomes, you know the guy who just hoisted his 3rd lombardi. The difference is Bryce was sacked 62 knocked down 50 times and hurried 38 times. Mahomes was only sacked 27 times but he was knocked down 65 times and hurried 60 times. Some of Bryce sacks obviously fall on nobody being open because of the terrible scheme and weapons we trotted out, but lets not act like he didnt have NFL pocket time. Bryce needs to realize he is never going to get Alabama pocket time in the NFL even if we had Phillys OL. This is why Canales is talking about getting the ball out fast because thats what NFL offenses require.

More of the same until proven otherwise. They are just blowing hot air.

Getting Crunch Time for the Panthers and Brian Burns
PootieNunu replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Imagine if a team actually offered 2 firsts for Brian fuging Burns any GM in NFL history would snatch that up so quick....oh wait.....
