Okay, if these are the real numbers, then it isn't that bad. Two years, a little over $10M and $4M is due at signing. Back out yearly bonuses and is just under $5M in salary for the life of the deal. That I can live with.

So now it's just the Jets and Giants, really. The Colts and Titans have young QBs that are possible busts, but at this time they still have QBs--though with uncertain futures.

True, but one corner is a nickle and the other stays hurt. You really need four strong CBs to have a solid corner corps. Two starting safeties with one decent reserve is standard. I bet we sign at least one of the 5 safeties back we let walk when they realize there isn't a strong market for them. Safeties are the 'RBs' of the defense. Smart on us to let them ALL test the waters and not jump the gun on a new deal. Again, we will end up re-signing one or two of these guys later in FA.

Shouldn't we be focused on CBs in FA? Not a strong draft and we aren't exactly deep at corner.

Makes sense, following in Favre's footsteps. If Brett could pull of a come back as a Viking after a crappy Jets stint, then so can Aaron. My question is why did they draft McCarthy in first round? Did he have a rehab setback or is it a long recovery? I'm not sure Aaron wants to go somewhere just for one season if McCarthy is the 2026 starter.

This saves Carroll from drafting a rookie and basement dwelling for the next two seasons. Everyone knows new coaching staff + rookie QB = suck. Don't get me wrong, they ain't making the playoffs, but they will have a significantly better record than last year.

Zero chance. The gap between QB2 and QB3 this draft is about as wide as the Grand Canyon. I mean, there is always a stupid team that can ultra-reach, fortunately we don't need a starting QB from this draft class.

Pearce gives me serious Brian Burns vibes. I don't think he'd be a 3 down guy, especially early on in his career. He's a pass rush specialist and that may be all he'll ever be.
