Yup. If the season keeps going down the toilet, they may just shelve Brooks for the rest of the season. No need to risk re-injuring himself in a lost season. Sanders is gone after this season, so in a sense he's is replacing Sanders. If the O-line can avoid further serious injury and BC can anchor the center, I think any above average back can get similar production as Hubbard behind that line next season. Chuba can re-sign here for a decent price or test the market. I just hope Morgan isn't like Hurney in trying to keep guys in the fold. If Hurney liked a player, he would overpay them just to keep that guy here.

Clowney is a middling mercenary at this point in his career. He's chasing money. Not to mention he's injury prone. I knew this when we signed him and here he is hurt with a $10M 1-year contract. Yeah, trade him...if we can find any takers.

Cool, we aren't going to agree all the time. I'm fine if we re-sign Hubbard to be a backup. My biggest fear is overpaying a backup to starter money at an already devalued position. If he's here next year, he will be Brooks' backup and should be paid accordingly. I guess 15-20 carries a game will should suffice until Brooks comes back. When Brooks finally returns, they should roughly split the carries and go from there.

Depends on the O-line. Seriously, three games ago I would have said 20, but now it's a crap shoot with the OL injuries. They aren't as dominant. Also, I'm still lukewarm on Hubbard. A solid #2 RB, but he's not a #1. When a hole is there, he can hit it. He's gotten better at breaking tackles and pass catching, but still isn't stellar at either. My biggest gripe is his lack of vision and shiftiness...a linear runner who needs defined lanes.

Heck no, but the Panthers will do Panthers things.

BREAKING: Marquis Haynes, Ian Thomas added to active roster

A series of injuries. As mentioned, he couldn't get his back right all of last season. Besides, he's a one down, one trick pony. A 3rd down pass rush specialist and his one ace is a speed rush. -

You know Sanders has been in Thomas' ear saying: How did you manage years of lackluster performances into a sweet contract and somehow you still can't get cut?" Ian: "Tell them you were a steal at the top of the 4th round and you like to block." -
We are going to have to run the ball...a lot, and keep the Falcons' offense off the field. The only recipe for a victory is we must dominate the time of possession.

Yup, what a crappy thought.

The myth, the legend, THE Ian Thomas! Let's fugg'n go!!!!! -
What were your expectations for this season?
45catfan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
About 6 wins and for Young to be a modicum better as a NFL QB. We still might hit the wins...maybe, but the second point is hopeless. -
Yup. If not Nico, another stud. A deep class in '26. This year, it's Ward, Ewers and a bunch of question marks. At best it's a draft to take a late round flyer to develop a QB3.

This is usually an offseason thread. Damn, we are already doing an offseason topic five games in, lol?

Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers' Week 5 loss to Bears
45catfan replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Just like Ian Thomas. I can't scream from the mountain tops loud enough, bang my head against the wall long enough or grit my teeth hard enough any longer. FIX FUGG'N TE POSITION!!! And no, taking a dude who "dropped" to the 4th round in a sh*t TE class save the top guy, isn't going to do the trick. I'll even take a FA at this point. I wonder if the Raiders would swap Young for Mayer straight up? -
For injured RB who has yet to see the field for us.

Drafting Quality From 2019-2023(It could actually be worse)

I'm not sure where you got that data, but I would love to see just days 1 and 2 (rounds1-3). I'm certain that list would change a good deal. -

If I'm not mistaken, the Rams and Pats had a TON of day 3 picks the past several drafts. We all know those guys generally don't pan out. That would skew those number significantly. I mean, we have done worse with the fewest picks in the bottom 1/4 of that list in the League. The Vikings nearly doubled our picks and are only a couple spots below us. -
You know when this downward spiral started? When Tepper went all-in on analytics. Let scouts scout and let the nerds play Xbox.
-
WE keep changing GMs, but have largely left our scouting department in tact. Some turnover this offseason (after the draft) so we shall see.
-
Kinda like a favorite hobby you've nearly given up on. You miss it, but have moved on to other things to fill that void.
-
Passing up Payton Wilson for Tevin Wallace was a huge red flag for me. I think Morgan is a better pro scout than college.
-
Dalton was not the main problem today. Poor game planning, poor/no adjustments, shoddy defense and injuries. Dalton didn't have a stellar day, but he is way down the list of reasons for today's failure.

Carolina Panthers @ Chicago Bears Gameday Thread

Does anyone think that we didn't get anything short of completely fleeced in the Bears trade at this point? There has to be one knucklehead still out there. -

At this point, picking up limbs, sticks and pine cones seems like a better time than watching this game. -
