Looking around the web, most draft sites have him in the 3rd-to-4th round range right now. As we know, if he has a great pro day and Combine, he could make to the 2nd round. Will he be better than the dudes that will be sitting there at #33? I don't know, but he's a great trade down target if the team values him closer to the middle of round 2.

The problem being it's a super weak TE class. I would normally be on board with this. LaPorta has lived up to the billing where he was drafted, but Kelce an Kittle were late round gems. Kinda like saying we are going to find our starting QB in the 6th or 7th round because Brady and Purdy are evidence it can be done. We are going to have to find a TE in FA or hope a day 3 guy can turn into Kelce or Kittle lite. Absolutely zero reason to draft a TE in the second or third round due to the positional weakness this draft cycle.

Yup, my theory too. It wasn't too far fetched to think at least one of them would fall to #9. Only the paranoid QB obsessed types thought all four of them would be gone. Heck, this year's class is much better and may not have four QBs go in the top 10, although three will for certain. As we all know, Levis even fell to round 2.

Stroud looks like the real deal, but let's see his sophomore year. The rest of that QB class it's looking kinda how I envisioned thus far. I have to admit Young looked even worse than I thought (being on the Panthers is probably why) and yes, Stroud over-performed. As a class however, I wanted to stay away in favor of this year's QB crop. Man is it looking loaded! I was rounded mocked by people for wanting to kick the can one more season and thus was labeled the "One more year guy." I hate that we got stuck with a player that doesn't fit this team or the NFL in general, but for the folks that couldn't wait as this team is now mired down in squalor of the NFL basement, it's a bittersweet feeling for me.

I'm with you. I have just started getting the itch, but a mild one. The draft itch normally starts in late November for me, after conference Championships wrap up. This year it was late January and I'm still not super into it.

I hope so, unless there's a run on WRs.
-
Look at it like this, we acquired the Chiefs pick and then traded back one spot. It's not so bad then.

We have options at WR, guys. I have no idea what everyone is anxious over, outside of the fact the Carolina Panthers suck at drafting WRs...especially in the second round. Big board ranked 27-44 Again, there are plenty of options at WR, we just have to choose the RIGHT one of those remaining.

I know this is satire, however the irony is I knew it was a suicidal move last year although most fans were on board with it. As ridiculous as your statement looks now, it was THAT ridiculous to me last year.

There will be a WR there to draft at #33, that's not what is bothering me. The problem is we'll take one and the next one off the board will be the OROY.

Didn't love the mock, didn't hate it either. Hit the need positions mostly, but I would have taken different players and largely in different rounds.
-
In short; obviously, correct and doubtful. On the last point, IOL will not trump the need for a WR and we are not taking a tackle.
-
It's an offensive heavy first part of the draft. BPA will likely be an offensive player, probably even a WR. Although it could be a QB....just say'n.

Michael Pittman Jr., Calvin Ridley, JK Osborn?
-
I guess the question is now, since Higgins is likely tagged, who is the FA WR target now?
-
I'm warming up to both the Texas guys, especially Worthy.
-
Yup, being reported on sports talk radio as a very real possibility Higgins being tagged.
-
Preaching to the choir bother. All our starters on the OL are under contract and should be healthy by the start of the season. We even have several backups inked too. Let's see how they look if we go back to a run first approach, which has been implied, and they excel at. There's too many other holes on this roster to sign "competition" for the sake pushing these guys. They all know they are on the hot seat...so to speak, so wasting money on signing FA O-linemen to motivate our exiting guys is simply dumb.

Lol, I've been mocking that way. We aren't taking a QB (sadly) and there will be 1 or 2 premier guy(s) remaining. Somebody will want to jump up for McCarthy and possibly either Nix or Penix (whomever is left). Move back to the low 40's (thinking Giants, Vikings, or Raiders assuming they don't go QB in round 1). The elite WRs will be gone and there is a glut of second tier guys in the second round. We will still get a good WR 10 spots or so later.

Weak class for TEs. And no, we are not getting Bowers.
