  1. I get Hurst, he supposedly declined a pay cut plus coming of a injury filled season and we are looking to upgrade anyway. Bozeman would at least be a solid backup. His salary is already on the books whether he's here or not. As mentioned, his cap savings a minimal with the release. The only think I can think of is he declined a pay cut and/or was told he wasn't starting no longer whereby he asked to be released.
  2. Making even more holes on a already Swiss cheese roster. Create the competition, but taking the dead hit for a guy who -at bare minimum- would be a heck of back up makes zero sense. Cap savings are tiny, FYI, so it's not a cost saving move.
  3. Eh, I think it's lying season in an attempt to get people to look for tea leaves that don't exist. Unless Kirk Cousins, Justin Fields or Russell Wilson ends up in D.C. or New England, QBs will go 1,2,3. Bank on it. Neither of those situations are going to leave the QB question unaddressed. We all know the Bears are taking a QB.
  4. Ugh, will he retire already? Newton put sources to what we all already knew. The staff had too many voices, put too much on Bryce's plate and we lacked the personnel to run the offense we were attempting to run...all meaning Young will probably look better this year. Earth shattering!
  5. You don't sit at #3, just traded you QB and can get one of the top QBs in a super talented class just to move out and take a non-QB. I mean a spot or two in a move down if you are 100% sure the next team isn't taking a QB, but why take the risk? If they move to #5, they could get leapfrogged because the next several teams after that pick are in the QB market.
  6. TE, CB and WR at #2 quality in FA. Outside of that, trade down in the draft and accumulate a couple extra picks. Top of the first round picks are worth gold; bottom of the round silver. After that you are looking for copper around the scrap yard. We just have to be able to locate it. Meaning, since we don't have the lucrative first rounder, we might as well take the time to look for the value in the mid to late rounds. The more we have, the better chances of finding what we are looking for. It can be done, we haven't had the scouts and GMs to pull it off in the past. The Rams have been killing it of late finding those mid-round gems and they haven't had high picks in the past few drafts.
  7. The Combine is becoming more irrelevant. In a few more years, it will take a back seat to pro days in terms of importance. Heck, instead of opting out of parts of it, top prospects may even skip it altogether.
  8. It was the first attempt to roll with someone other than Thomas. Yes, many of us were happy. Hurst got cut and still was better than Thomas.
  9. Yup, they are going to force it even though Bryce doesn't fit.
  10. Cool and we roll with arguably the worst TE room in the League...again. Why not, it hasn't been a priority since Olsen left. Why change things now?
  11. Yup, too many holes to be cutting/restructuring starters already under contract.. We are at League average in cap space. I don't understand rush to create a bunch of cap space this year when all that will do is add to cap overhead in future years and/or more dead cap. Tepper will be patient this year, take advantage of it. Clean up the books as much as possible without adversely impacting future years.
  12. A thought...could we just let him walk? I know that was a poll question, but kinda tongue-in-cheek. I didn't honestly think it was a viable option. Most of the tag targets around the League have already been addressed. However, even though talks have stalled, no word from the Panthers' camp yet.
  13. Purely scheme related. We didn't utilize him as such last season, but he is what he is. A threat in the passing game he is NOT. A blocking back and a short yard rusher are his best traits. A gimmick pass in the red zone...sure why not, nobody is expecting it and there you get your 3 TDs a season. I mean if 10 yards a game on average is a your idea of an effective TE in the passing game, then I guess he's a stud. A TD every 7 games on average is rock star material too.
  14. We don't need to crate a ton of cap room this year. We will suck. Take the hit this season and re-work his contract or cut him in 2025. No kicking the can down the road as Morgan said.
  15. They have been consistent. Gesicki was buried on a 3-headed monster TE room last year with the Patriots and his stats suffered. Both guys have put up three 500+ yard seasons. Which of our TEs can boast that? None. Hurst has done it once and nobody else has even come close. Tremble is an H-back and not a true TE. He's not a threat in the passing game.
  16. Who are his potential suitors: Falcons, Washington, Steelers or the Patriots? He's going to look to start somewhere first before taking a backup gig.
  17. Sneed got the tag today. The Dolphins opted NOT to tag Wilkins
  18. He knew it was coming. Apparently he's had him home in Denver with 12 bathrooms up for sale for a while now.
  19. How about the Jags wished a player happy birthday today and then cut him hours later. Ooops! https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/39653533/source-jags-release-dt-folorunso-fatukasi-birthday Oh, there's a decent DT now available!
  20. Nearly the end of the business day. Apparently the team is going to drag this all the way out until tomorrow even though EVERYONE knows Burns is getting the tag. It's been leaked that negotiations are on hold.
  21. If he's still on the board in the sixth round when we pick, that would be a nice selection to wrap up our draft. He had a solid combine, so his stock will rise.
  22. Olsen was elite before injuries derailed his career. Injuries were the only reason we let him go. He couldn't replicate his pre-injury numbers. We ain't getting Bowers and there's not even another guy in the the same zip code as him. We have three options: roll with what we got, get a project TE in the mid-late rounds or upgrade in FA. None of those options other than the last one gives an immediate upgrade, even if there's no Greg Olsen-ish guy on that list. Also, Olsen was a former first rounder if you recall. Gesicki and Fant gets us much better instantly at the TE spot.
