We can't forget about Atlanta. Just because all the talking heads are saying Cousins' is landing there, it is just speculation to this point. If they don't get a FA QB, you had better bet they are drafting one. They ain't rolling with that QB room again this season without an upgrade, real or perceived.
-
That's a possible destination for Wilson. Jimmy G still has some years on his contract so it would be as a backup, initially, if Fields went to the Raiders. I don't think Fields can beat out a healthy Jimmy G. Wilson supposedly got a call from the Giants. I don't see that happening though as Jones' contract is too steep right now to ditch and Wilson isn't signing as a backup. Maybe Fields ends up there as a back up for a season and then the main guy if they cut Jones in 2025.

We'd take that amount in dead cap if we cut him. Call it a wash and with one less hole to fill.
-
If this is true, they took him all the way down to his base salary, no bonuses.
-
The QB dominoes are starting to fall. Mac Jones is out in New England, Baker is staying in Tampa and Russell Wilson is out in Denver. From everything I'm reading, Cousins to the Falcons is almost assured unless the Vikings have a last minute change of heart to keep him. The two wildcards are Wilson and Fields. Once those two have been settled, we will see all the teams remaining with holes at QB1.

Yup, anytime you can snag a young FA(healthy) starter from the Cowboy's OL, you do it. With the Cowboys cap situation, they can ill-afford to overspend on a center.
-
Which FA centers do you like? I don't think we draft one high unless Powers-Johnson falls to #33. After that, we wait until day 3. Usually only 6-7 centers get drafted in any given year. It's skewed a little higher in recent years, but the bulk are still not taken until day 3.
-
Yup, most reputable mock draft sites has Powers-Johnson gone in the back half or round 1. The next two guys should be be available even in a trade back. The FA market is actually pretty good at center this cycle. It makes more sense to draft the WR and get the center in FA financially.

Post of the day! Well played, sir!

Here is his current deal. Let's see how much that changes.

I get it, but if Thomas got cut then that left Tremble and Sullivan as our TE room. Talk about thin! I'm all about Morgan firing shots across these dude's bows, but then there is completely spiting yourself and having your butt flapping in the wind.
-
It makes me think Morgan basically said, 'cut your contract or be cut.' Making some dudes an example. If the Ian Thomas "restructure" ends up being essentially a salary cut, then Morgan's message has been sent to the rest of the team.
-
I'm not sure, but unless Morgan is already talking out of both sides of his mouth, he said no kicking the can down the road. If tacking on a year while saving money overall is the move, then I can live with that.

I love the no BS attitude he's taking towards these underachieving players. It's refreshing for a Panthers GM to hold them accountable. It's the back fill I'm concerned about and how it's going to be a near impossible task. The reason I feel more and more that this will be a full rebuild (see tank) season.
-
It has to be his blocking. HAS TO! Dude is horrible in the passing game. One thing is for certain, after Hurst failing to restructure and most likely Bozeman, people are looking at modifying their contracts a bit differently now. Morgan is telling these dudes they are not playing up to their contract so they can take a cut and keep their job or not and go sit on the couch for a while longer.
-
One thing this does prove is while Fitterer and Morgan worked side by side and are still friends to this day, they don't necessarily approach building a NFL roster the same way. Morgan is already cleaning up some of Fitterer's past moves even though we have limited resources to plug new players into those holes.
-
Itty, bitty cap savings, little purchasing power in FA due to Burns and only six draft picks, yet we are creating more holes. I get the roster needs a make over, but if we keep cutting able bodied guys at even fringe starter quality and absorbing 99% of their cap hit just to be anywhere but here, then we are tanking. There's no question about it. What a fugged up year to tank. Lol at the PSL holders who got their ticket prices jacked up to watch the 2024 tank show.
-
Oh, throw in the Giants to move back up into round one mix too if they don't land a FA QB like Russell Wilson. They can move on from Jones after this year without too much damage while sitting the rookie QB. If the Steelers can't upgrade from Pickett, they may take a stab a #20.
-
This could end up matching the 1983 class in terms of first round QBs. I expect QBs to go 1,2,3 and then you have Minnesota and Denver. I know that's only 5, but look for a team like Seattle to possibly take a stab or teams like the Saints or Raiders to move back up into the first round to snag the last QB to sit a season and learn behind a aging veteran whose cap savings are significant in 2025.
-
LOl! Saving from the Hurst and Bozeman cuts COMBINED are less than 400K! Tagging Burns took us from one of the teams with the most cap room all the way down to 12M remaining because they can't figure out what to do the dude. One decent FA will wipe that out.
