Eh, I'm mostly focusing on us, not he competition. If the OL can hold up, Darnold can hold his own (not asking for Pro Bowl-type season out of him) and the team stays healthy...we can make some waves in the NFC regardless of how the rest of conference shakes out.

Me as well. I've said 9-10 wins earlier on. One of those games was a Joey Slye contingency, he was good for at least a loss. I'm solid at 10 wins now.

It's so ridiculous that the team is fighting against this. They made some bone-head FA signings, but instead of chalking it up a loss, they are damning the torpedoes and going full steam ahead with this train wreck on the left side.

My biggest concern is not rattling Wilson early and letting him get into a rhythm. Dude is a rookie starting his first game, the last thing we need is to let him get comfortable.
-
Mostly true. I would say O-line in general. While LT is the glaring issue, LG and center are by no means solid. Miller at RG is good enough, but really the only fixture is Moton. I'm still baffled by the Elflein signing, at least the amount we gave him. His contract keeps him here for at least two years unless we take a huge cap hit. Linebacker is set unless we have an injury...it just lacks depth.

I have to admit that I wasn't initially a fan of drafting TM88 and saw it as a slight to the Saints (rumored to be targeting him) more so than a real need/value. Pleasantly he seems to be the real deal. I'm still on the fence with the Tremble pick. To me he's going to have to be a real cog in the Panthers offense for him to be worth that pick, otherwise I feel we could have gone in another direction. Apparently he was one of Rhule's draft crushes. Outside of Shi Smith (I actually was wanting a slot WR on the last day since Curtis Samuel was on the out the door) the rest of the day 3 picks were...meh.

Question for you 50 years plus folk (and others)?

I'd bet the Jets would gladly have their lone Super Bowl revoked if it meant getting monkey off their back. -

Nope, I'd rather have a competitive team on the regular than a one-hit wonder. You can only bask in the glory one moment in time for so long. That would like saying, the Panthers always suck, but at least we have '03 and '15! -
I still like the 2020 class better. Granted we got more picks than the previous draft, but I wasn't exactly thrilled with what they did with the late selections. It seemed like they almost traded back too much and were grasping at straws with the last few picks. I would have looked at center, tackle, linebacker and end. Quality over quantity is the best way to sum it up.

Panthers waiver claims and practice squad signings
45catfan replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Still shocked no LBs have been signed. I guess there's no rush since it's a PS spot. At this point, any FAs remaining out there are going to be available for a while. I'm wondering if they are intentionally holding those spots open for potential injury/Covid case(s)? -

When Rhule praises you and you are a backup...best hit up Indeed pronto. Remember, Cannon was the best gunner in the NFL according to Rhule. -
LB and swing OT (backup) is really the only true holes we have left. It would be stupid to ignore it. I'm old school and still would like to see a true FB on the roster, but I think I'm probably going to have to let that go. Come Fitts, throw me bone here and at least put one on the PS!

Yep. me as well. I also recall having folks say taking a day 3 QB (I think I was targeting him in the 5th for us) was akin to throwing a draft pick in the toilet. Of course some would say that about drafting a long snapper too... The kid has a big arm from what I recall, he just went to a no name school with mixed results. You can tweak a QBs game with good coaching, but you can't teach a big arm. -

Ahem... -
Saw that one coming. I figured Brown would take his spot, but he ended up o the practice squad.

I'd be interested in some of these guys who are young and were productive in college, not necessarily to the 53, but as developmental guys on the PS: QB -James Morgan TE/FB: Ben Mason OLB- Jacoby Stevens ILB-Evan Weaver

Final cuts: Surprise makes and cuts for the 53 man roster
45catfan replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bump, wasn't too far off. -
I think we are still looking out for an OT, probably a LB too. Hoskins/Chandler are very much on the bubble. I wouldn't be shocked if Ricci is bumped by a true FB. That's the reason they say initial 53-man roster.

...and the very reason why people are freaking out about the O-line this year.

Another Trade Incoming! Bills trading DE Darryl Johnson to Carolina!
45catfan replied to joemac's topic in Carolina Panthers
After next week...week1. FYI, when you passed in front of me at training camp, you had put on some weight, I noticed, and didn't use enough gel for Spartanburg humidity...your hair has nearly flat! C'mon man, you can't let yourself go like this... My gut has been this big for years and I proudly show it off!!! -

I still think Clay Johnson should go to the PS, move Luvu to the middle and put Haynes on the outside to back up Reddick. I would still look for an upgrade to Stanford. While a good STer, he's not the best LB. At 30-years old and a career drifter in the League, he can't be in the team's long-term plans. -

^^^^This. Miller and Hoskins are PS bound. Hoskins for sure.
