It's 50/50. I think the 49ers loved Jones' stat line and film, however, once they realized what Lance could be in a year or two, it made them reevaluate. Remember, Jimmy-G is the guy THIS year. Jones would be the guy if he had to start this September, but he's not. In a year's time I think Lance and Jones are on equal footing with Lance having the higher ceiling long-term. While Jones still may be the pick, I don't think it's a slam dunk anymore.

Analytics that will shape Draft Strategy or my name isn't MHS831
45catfan replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
That's the reason I go straight to the summery/conclusion with reading the entire report; I have little patience for all minutiae! I enjoy cooking and eating a sausage and could care less about the process in which it was made. -
Either Detroit or us will trade back to a team wanting Lance if the 49ers or Falcons don't take him. He absolutely does not slide past #8. If Sewell is gone, we may even draft him (fingers crossed).

One will be there, likely Horn. I think this is the reason we are trying to trade down because the value isn't there at #8, but a team may want to move up for a player with that #8 value. That way we get the corner at the correct value (not reaching) and gain some additional draft capital as well. -

Man, that was a long-winded post by the OP to say we need a CB. I already knew that, duh! Now, I disagree it needs to be in the first as corner is probably the deepest position in the draft besides WR (and were are mostly good there). We won't take one at #8; only in a trade back. I'm certain of that. If we trade back with Sewell already gone I won't be too perplexed. If we trade back with Sewell still there, I can't say the same. -
Which end of that bet are you on to be clear? You have Lance within 10 or the other guy? I'm certain Lance goes within 10 of Fields, that's like taking candy from a sleeping baby. Heck, the better bet would have been which one of the two gets drafted first. Lance to 49ers is picking up a TON of steam.

Yeah, I remember the commercials. They were actually quite good as far as beer commercials go. I actually prefer XX amber to standard lager though. If I get a beer at a Mexican restaurant, that's my go-to.

All of a sudden these bold internet GMs have clammed up, huh? Seemingly so sure of themselves they are not even willing to put even a silly avatar on the line, lol!
-
Ah, you were talking about your personal one. Yes, changing yours would not make much sense. I would suggest not losing an avatar bet then!
-
Is Sam a one-yer rental? That honestly depends on Sam. If he balls this year, then he's very likely to stay.
-
We have an avatar bet about the amount of DTs going in the first 3 rounds. Basbear thinks it's 5 or less and I think it will be about 7 (6 is a push). So we are betting our avatars to the choice of the victor. It can't be anything that can get the losing person banned, but it can be shaming/funny/mocking. I think the loser has to sport the avatar until opening game, so the rest of the offseason. Yes, avatars can be changed..I've done it several times. I haven't had this Trey Lance avatar forever.

The “Deep OT class” may not be as deep at LT in scouts eyes
45catfan replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
If we trade back more than several picks, the staff has to love Darrisaw because Slater will be gone. Personally, I'm not sold on Darrisaw. He's not athletic enough for me. -
What would you give up to trade up to 4?
45catfan replied to irrevalentfalconsfan's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Zip, nadda, zilch. That boat sailed when we acquired Darnold. As for a non-QB? That trade up would be BEYOND stupid. -
The Jimmy Johnson Trade Value Chart
45catfan replied to theinstrumental's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes. -
I wonder of the 155 prospects, how deep they have the WRs and CBs...the deepest groups of the class? Maybe 15-20 deep? That may seem high, but remember positions like RB, TE and QB aren't going to hit double digits on their board.

Only 250-something are going to be drafted, so it really doesn't matter how many UDFA-types got agent representation. Maybe, just maybe, this is the reason why we are not leaving so many openings for UDFAs this year. We hit on our draftable players and the handful of camp bodies we sign after the draft will be just that...camp bodies. Honestly, we keep 1-2 of these guys a year as cusp roster guys. Not that big of a deal that we are only bringing in about half the number we normally would this year. I know Marty Hurney is heart-broken he doesn't have nearly 2,000 diamond-in-the-rough guys to pick from this year. With the numbers so low, maybe he actually finds that hidden gem. Eh, that's Washington's problem now.

The Jimmy Johnson Trade Value Chart
45catfan replied to theinstrumental's topic in Carolina Panthers
Most trade value charts are based off Jimmy's, so while I voted "no, others" his chart set the standard that others modeled theirs after. Truth be known, there are only subtle differences anyway. Most start at 3000 and work the way down to 1. The biggest difference with the contemporary charts is the 7th round is basically weighted the same where Johnson's still placed value throughout the round. -
The “Deep OT class” may not be as deep at LT in scouts eyes
45catfan replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Tackle is deep for RT and developmental LTs. Day one starters at LT are Sewell & Slater and obviously KC had no shot at them. They are in 'win-now' mode so no time for a rookie LT to slowly develop. Tackle "not being deep" has to be taken with some perspective. Day one starting LTs? Nope, only two. The tackle class overall? Yes, it has some really good depth. -
I see what you did there. Getting nervous, lol?
-
Chiefs got screwed. However, if they think he's the missing piece to another Super Bowl run, then they did what they had to do to ensure that. Waaaaaay too steep for me. The Darnold trade keeps looking better and better as long he just doesn't flat out suck.

-McNeill-NT -Togiai/Williams-3-tech -Rogers- slot WR -Adebo- outside corner -Chritensen/Walker-LT -Brown-RT -Roche-DE (Rotational 3rd DE) If we had another pick or two, throw in TE Jordan and/or Trask as a developmental QB. I would have no complaints with that draft.
-
Man, I wish we had another 3rd round pick. The middle of the round is STACKED! 78. DL Alim McNeill North Carolina State 79. DL Tommy Togiai Ohio State 80. WR Amari Rodgers Clemson 81. S Andre Cisco Syracuse 82. CB Paulson Adebo Stanford 83. QB Kyle Trask Florida 84. RB Kenneth Gainwell Memphis 85. TE Tommy Tremble Notre Dame 86. WR Nico Collins Michigan 87. OT Brady Christensen BYU 88. OT Spencer Brown Northern Iowa 89. DL Milton Williams Louisiana Tech 90. TE Brevin Jordan Miami (FL) 91. TE Hunter Long Boston College 92. OT Walker Little Stanford 93. EDGE Quincy Roche Miami (FL) I mean, I could make an entire draft just from this section alone and be thrilled with it.

I'm going to puke when I see a TE wearing a single digit.

Hidden Gem on Day 3? Simi Fehoko, WR from Stanford
45catfan replied to blueandblackattack's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
Yep, I've mocked him a few times now. He's actually in my latest mock. I know the Panthers are looking for a tall red zone target since they have Zoomed with Strachen (sp), the small school WR product that's 6'5". Fehoko would be more polished coming in being from a Power 5 School.
